The yellow brick road

Of was Jane helderziend?

A lot of blocks are now prepared, so I can start making new blocks again. Here is block 37, this is L8 Box Kite. The box kite was invented in 1893 by Lawrence Hargrave, an English-born Australian, as part of his attempt to develop a manned flying machine. Now the Dear Jane quilt was made in 1863, 30 years earlier. You can tell by that fact that it is Brenda Papadakis, who gave all blocks a name when she published the book the Dear Jane in 1996. Or was Jane clairvoyant?

Then we come to block 38, J6 Granny Weaver. You can see why this block is so called, the strips seem almost woven. In the past, for example, we received strips of paper at school and you could weave them. It would look exactly like this block.

Every time blocks are ready, I immediately sew on the sashings. So I don't have to do everything at the end.

You know what this reminds me of when I see it this way ...

Follow the Yellow Brick Road. Follow the Yellow Brick Road.
Follow, follow, follow, follow,
en ga zo maar door ...

on the yellow brick road from the Wizard of Oz. I can't get the song out of my mind anymore.
Follow the Yellow Brick Road. Follow the Yellow Brick Road.
Follow, follow, follow, follow,
And so on ...

I put the first 9 blocks together and then you see exactly what I mean with the yellow brick road 😀

Mooie blokken!
Bij The Wizzard of Oz moet ik altijd aan 'Somewhere over the rainbow' denken. Follow the yellow brick road was ik alweer helemaal vergeten.

Groetjes,
Yvonne
