July Cottage

De cottage van de maand juli straalt rood-wit-blauw uit, echt Amerikaans en ik weet dat vele Nederlandse borduursters dit de minst leuke cottage vonden. Ik daarentegen vind hem juist erg leuk, tenslotte zijn het Amerikaanse patroontjes en bovendien is onze vlag ook rood-wit-blauw ;-)

The cottage of the month July shows a lot of red-white-blue, real American and I know many Dutch embroiderers found this the least fun cottage. I like this one, because finally they are American designs and besides that, our flag is also red-white-blue ;-)

Bij deze cottage heb ik een paar siersteekjes gebruikt en wel in de blauwe  bloemen boven en onder in de rand. Bovendien heb ik ook de kleur geel eruit gelaten.

I did some special stitches in the blue flowers on top and bottom. I also left out the color yellow.

In DIT (klik) bericht schreef ik al over het patroon dat Little House Needleworks ontworpen had voor het goede doel. Ik had het meteen besteld en gisteren viel het op de deurmat. Nog even een stofje zoeken en het garen en dan ....

In THIS (click) message I already wrote about the pattern that Little House Needleworks designed for charity. I had ordered it right away and yesterday I recieved it by post. Now only look for a piece of fabric and some thread and then ...

Ik was al begonnen aan de cottage van augustus maar ik denk dat die even moet wachten ;-)

I already started on the cottage of August but I think that one has to wait ...

Verder had ik ook op mijn verkoopblog (klik) stofjes toegevoegd (waarvan er inmiddels al veel verkocht zijn) en bij boeken heb ik nog een aantal quiltboeken en tijdschriften geplaatst.

June Cottage

De 6e maand van de Cottage of the Month serie van Country Cottage Needleworks is ook af. De maand juni staat vol met heerlijke zomerse aaardbeien. Deze keer geen speciale siersteken gebruikt, want de aardbeien staan al vol met franse knoopjes.

The sixth month of the Cottage of the Month series from Country Cottage Needleworks is finished. The month June is full with delicious summer strawberries. This time I didn't use any special stitches, because the strawberries are full with french knots.

Helaas worden mijn nieuwe patronen van deze maand later bezorgt, omdat er een probleem met de groothandel was. Ze hadden namelijk te weinig patronen van de Calender Girls February binnen gekregen. Zoals het er nu naar uitziet krijg ik ze ergens in de 3e week van februari. 

Wel jammer want ik had ook het nieuwste patroon van CCN erbij besteld met een valentijn thema en dat kan ik nu pas maken als valentijn al voorbij is. Gelukkig hoef ik niet stil te zitten want ik kan gewoon met mijn juli cottage verder ...

Unfortunately my new patterns of this month will be delivered much later, because there was a problem with the distributor. They had a short on the Calender Girls February. As it now looks I will get them around the 3th week of february. 

Its a pity, because I also ordered the newest pattern from CCN with a valentine theme and now I have to stitch it when valentine is over. Luckily I don't have to sit still, because I can move on with my july cottage ...

May Cottage

De serie "Cottage of the Month" van Country Cottage Needleworks kocht ik in 2012 elke maand toen ze uitkwamen. Ik maakte de eerste 4 maanden en daarna bleven ze liggen. Vraag me niet waarom, want ze zijn toch wel erg leuk.

Daarom heb ik me ook voorgenomen om ze nu maar eens af te maken. De maand mei is inmiddels geborduurd en afgewerkt als een groter ornament dat aan de kastdeur komt te hangen.

The series "Cottages of the Month" from Country Cottage Needleworks I bought in 2012 each month. I stitched the first 4 and the rest I didn't. I don't know why because they are so pretty.

So I made the decision to stitched them all this year. I stitched the May cottage and finished it of as a larger ornament that is hanging on my closetdoor.

De volgende keer zal de cottage van juni wel af zijn, ... vol met aardbeien.

Next time I think the june cottage is finished, ... with lots of strawberries.

April Cottage

Het heeft even geduurd maar ik heb het april huisje van CCN af. Ik heb wel een paar kleurtjes vervangen. Zo heb ik de vogels niet lichtblauw gemaakt en de bloemen boven en onderaan lila ipv rose.

It took some time but I have finish my april cottage. I did made some changes on the colors. The birds I did not stitch in blue and the flowers at top and bottom I stitched lilac instead of pink.

Threads: DMC (white), Weeks Dye Works (artichoke), The Gentle Art (cinnamon, chives), Victorian Motto (autumn orange B, purple 111, purple 113, sunset LT), Wisper thread (for the rabbit).

Het dak heb ik met stiksteekjes gemaakt ipv kruissteekjes zodat het net een rieten dak is.

The roof I didn't stitched in cross stitch as you can see.

En het hart van de bloemen heb ik weer gedaan met een speciale steek.

The heart of the flower I did with a special stitch.

En het konijn heb ik geborduurd met wisper garen zodat die een beetje wollig is.

For the rabbit I used wisper thread so he is a bit wooly.

March Cottage

Nadat ik het borduren vanmiddag af had, heb ik de maart cottage maar meteen afgewerkt en zo ziet hij er nu uit.

After the stitching this afternoon, I finished the March cottage into an ornament and this is how it looks like.

De kleuren heb ik  weer iets veranderd, hier zie je de kleuren zoals ze op het patroon staan.

The colors I changed again a bit, here you see the colors as on the chart.

En dit zijn de kleuren die ik gebruikt heb, zoals je ziet is het rose bij mij een oranje tint geworden.

And these are the colors I have used, as you can see I changed the pink into a orange color.

DMC (B5200, 3031), WDW (Pecan), Nina's Threads (Apricot, Pine tree, Spring grass), Wisper (W88) and Victorian Motto (Autumn orange)

De schaapjes heb ik met Wisper geborduurd, dat is een mohair draad en de schaapjes worden zo heerlijk wollig.

The sheep I stitch with Wisper, this is a mohair thread and the sheep look now very wooly.

En net als de vorige 2 maanden heb ik de bloemen boven- en onderaan weer gedaan met een speciale steek, ditmaal de spiderweb steek ipv in kruissteek zoals op het patroon staat.

And just as the 2 other months I have stitch the flowers on top and bottom with a special stitch, this time the spiderweb stitch, instead of the cross stitches as charted.

February Cottage

Het modelwerk voor Atelier Soed Idee is af en al aangekomen bij haar. Gisteren ben ik bezig geweest met eerst de fouten uit te halen van de februari cottage van Country Cottage Needelworks, zodat ik daarna ermee verder kon gaan. Gisteravond had ik hem helemaal af en vanmorgen heb ik er weer een ornament van gemaakt afgewerkt met wijn rode chenille.

The modelstitching is finished and its already arrived bij Atelier Soed Idee. Yesterday I had to remove the stitches that where wrong on the February cottage of Country Cottage Needleworks and when that was done I could stitch further. I did finish it before I went to bed and this morning I made it into a ornament. All the way around I sewed wine red chenille.

Ik heb de kleurtjes een klein beetje veranderd en ook de hartjes aan de boven- en onderkant ipv kruissteekjes veranderd in speciale steken.

I did change the colors a bit and I also made on the top and bottom the hearts not in cross stitch but with special stitches.

January Cottage and Brumelda wins ...

Gisteren kon ik eindelijk weer eens borduren. De griepverschijnselen zijn aardig weggetrokken, ik begin het idee te krijgen dat de medicatie die ik nu 3 weken achterwege kan laten er veel mee te maken hebben gehad. Met het innemen van de betablokkers had ik nergens last van, behalve het dan ijs en ijskoud hebben en toen de huisarts me de nieuwe medicatie in plaats van die gaf begonnen de problemen. Vanaf afgelopen vrijdag moest ik ook met deze stoppen omdat mijn handen zo'n pijn deden en dat is nu ook aardig weggetrokken. Als ik over 3 weken terug moet en toch terug aan de medicatie moet, dan stel ik voor om dan maar terug naar de betablokkers te gaan ... dan trek ik maar een extra trui aan tegen het koud hebben :-)

Doordat ik me gisteren een stuk beter voelde, begon ik meteen aan de January Cottage van Country Cottage Needleworks want die was bijna af. Ik hoefde alleen nog maar een paar sneeuwvlokken te borduren en het randje bovenaan en dat is nu gebeurd. Vanmiddag heb ik het afgewerkt als hangertje, voor aan de kastdeur. Ze brengen elke maand een nieuwe maand cottage uit en zoals jullie in het vorige berichtje al hebben kunnen zien is die van februari al hier.

Yesterday I could stitch again. The flue is almost gone and the pain in my hands are almost over. The January Cottage of Country Cottage Needleworks was still not ready and I only had to stitch some snowflakes and the border on top. And that is what I did yesterday and finished it. This afternoon I made it into a hanger. CCN comes each month with a new cottage and the february cottage I already have here.

Bovenaan heb ik een strikje met een knoop bevestigd en de kleine blauwe bloemetjes in de borders heb ik met een speciale steek gemaakt in plaats van met kruissteek zoals het op het patroon staat.

On top I attached a small ribbon with a button and the little blue flowers in the borders I made with a special stitch instead of  cross stitches as on the chart.

En dan hebben Brumelda en ik ook nog HEEL leuk nieuws te vertellen. Die kleine deugniet was gisteren, toen ik even van de pc weg was, stiekum naar Supergoof's weblog gegaan en had daar een reactie achtergelaten bij de give away die Supergoof had. Want Brumelda houdt nu eenmaal van blauw, dat kun je wel zien aan de SBS die volledig in blauwtjes gemaakt wordt. En daar die voor haar niet blauw genoeg kon zijn, wilde ze ook graag een gokje wagen op die prachtige blauwtjes die Supergoof weg gaf. Vanmorgen vroeg ze al een aantal keren "Carin kijk nu eens op ons favoriete blog wie de blauwe stofjes gewonnen heeft". Maar na een aantal keren kijken stond er nog steeds niets. Wat duurde het wachten lang.... en toen opeens stond er een nieuw bericht en nog voor ik het goed en wel gelezen had, gilde er hier een kleine heks ....

Brumelda and I have some great news. Yesterday she wrote a message on Supergoof's blog who organized a give away for some wonderful blue fabrics. And as you know Brumelda loves blue's because her SBS is full of it. This morning she couldn't wait and ask me if I wanted to check Supergoof's blog but there was still no nws about the winner. The waiting seems to take forever but then .... there was a new message and before I could read who the winner was, Brumelda was screaming ....

Ik moest wel 3x lezen voor het tot me door gedrongen was dat Brumelda de winnaar was. Tenslotte waren er meer dan 350 reacties achter gelaten en dat zij, uitgerekend zij die lapjes zou winnen, was een erge kleine kans. Maar ze is blij, HEEL blij dat kan ik jullie vertellen en wat NOG leuker is, ... is dat zij mij vertelde dat we van de blauwe lapjes mijn idee gaan maken ipv ze in de SBS te stoppen. Ik had namelijk direct een idee bij het zien van die prachtige lapjes en droomde al  ik ze zou winnen. Ik zou er dan een quiltje van maken dat direct laat zien welk blog ons favoriete blog is en dat de naam Supergoof Blues zou krijgen. Ik vertelde Brumelda dan ook mijn idee en in goed overleg is nu besloten om ze hiervoor ook gaan te gebruiken, tenslotte leest Brumelda ook altijd Supergoof's blog.

Well I had to read the message 3 times before I realized that Brumelda was the winner. There where more then 350 replies so the change was very small to win. When I saw the fabrics for the first time I immediately had a great idea for those pieces. I would make a quilt that shows what blog our favorite blog is and it would get the name Supergoof Blues. But I didn't win ... Brumelda did ! The best part is that Brumelda loves my idea and together we are going to make that Supergoof Blues quilt.
