Village Fete socks

De Village Fete sokken zijn af. Dit is een patroon van Kay Jones en ontzettend leuk om te breien.

The Village Fete socks are finished. This pattern is by Kay Jones and is incredibly fun to knit.

Verder kwam ook de eerste zelfstrepende streng binnen van Nicole C Mendez uit de serie Zodiac (sterrenbeelden). 

Also arriving was the first self-striping skein from Nicole C Mendez's Zodiac series.

Dit is de kleur Aquarius (waterman) en de kleuren zijn echt prachtig.

This is the color Aquarius and the colors are truly beautiful.

 

Cross stitching sheep

Naast de quiltsampler ben ik ook verder gegaan met de Little Sheep virtues van Little House Needleworks. Er waren pas 5 patroontjes geborduurd (ergens gestart in 2013) en inmiddels staat patroontje 6 er ook op.

Besides the quilt sampler I also continued with the Little Sheep virtues of Little House Needleworks. There were only 5 patterns stitched (started somewhere in 2013) and now pattern 6 is also on there.

In totaal zijn het 12 patroontjes die ik op 1 lap borduur. Ik heb de eerste 5 schaapjes uitgehaald (ze waren geborduurd met chenille garen en het was niet mooi meer) en toen opnieuw geboruurd met DMC.

In total there are 12 patterns that I stitch on 1 piece of fabric. I frogged out the first 5 sheep (they were stitched with chenille yarn and it wasn't pretty anymore) and then re-stitched them with DMC.

Ik ben al gestart met patroontje 7.

Vorige week werd onze jongste kleindochter Loïs alweer 4 jaar. Afgelopen zondag hebben we het samen gevierd.

Last week our youngest granddaughter Loïs turned 4 years old. Last Sunday we celebrated it together.

Tot slot kwamen ook de maart mini strengen binnen van Mooike, ze laat steeds een inspiratie foto zien zodat je een beetje weet welke kleuren je kunt verwachten.

De afgelopen dagen hadden wij prachtig weer en kon je regelmatig buiten zitten maar vanaf vandaag is het weer een heel stuk kouder.

Picked up cross stitch again

Zoals ik al vertelde heb ik het borduren na vele jaren weer opgepakt en als eerste pakte ik de Quiltsampler VI van Linda Myers die ik ergens in 2006 was gestart.
Als eerste borduurde ik het roze patroontje af, want daar waren al wat steekjes aan gemaakt, daarna heb ik er nog 3 bij geborduurd.

As I already mentioned, I picked up crossstitch again after many years and first I picked up the Quiltsampler VI by Linda Myers that I started somewhere in 2006.
First I finished stitching the pink pattern, because there were already some stitches on it, then I stitched 3 more.

Zaterdag kreeg ik ook het maart pakket binnen van S7ors met het thema Carnaval dat hier in Limburg nog volop bezig is.

On Saturday I also received the March package from S7ors with the theme Carnival that is still in full swing here in Limburg.

Love story socks and doing cross stitch again

Ik heb andere medicatie gekregen voor de neuropathie omdat ik de pregabaline niet langer kon verdragen, ik bleef constant duizelig. Ruim 14 dagen geleden gaf de arts me een ander medicijn dat amitriptyline heet. Ik begon met 10 mg en dit wordt steeds verder verhoogd zodat je het langzaam opbouwt.

I was put on different medication for the neuropathy because I could no longer tolerate the pregabalin, I remained constantly dizzy. More than 14 days ago the doctor gave me another medicine called amitriptyline. I started with 10 mg and this is gradually increased so that you build it up slowly.

De bijwerking tot een paar dagen terug was dat ik echt nergens zin in had, ik raakte geen breinaald meer aan. Er was wel iets waar ik weer zin in kreeg en dat was borduren. Ik haalde de Quiltsampler VI van Linda Myers tevoorschijn en heb sinds jaren weer eens wat steekjes gezet en ik moet zeggen, het kriebelt weer.

The side effect until a few days ago was that I really didn't feel like doing anything, I no longer touched a knitting needle. There was something that made me want to do it again and that was embroidery. I took out the Quilt Sampler VI from Linda Myers and put some stitches in the past few years and I have to say, I enjoy it again.

De Love story sokken had ik 14 dagen geleden al af en door met verschillende kleuren te breien zijn ze heel erg leuk geworden. Het garen is van The Woolly Chicken.

I finished the Love story socks 14 days ago and by knitting with different colors they became a lot of fun. The yarn is from The woolly Chicken.

Wat ik wel nog heb gebreid is de vierde kleur van de Perfect socks. Deze kleur stelt de herfst in New York voor.

What I did knit is the fourth color of the Perfect socks. This color represents autumn in New York.

En op 11 februari begon weer de cursus Sokken breien op de rondbreinaald. Dit is de 5e keer dat ik hem samen met Francien geef bij Tante Tuttebol. Voor mij ook de laatste keer, want ik merk dat het mij gewoon teveel energie kost en ik dagen nodig heb om bij te komen.

And on February 11, the sock knitting course on circular needles started again. This is the 5th time that I give it at the shop of Tante Tuttebol together with Francien. Also the last time for me, because I notice that it simply costs me too much energy and I need days to recover.

Naast de Quiltsampler VI heb ik nog een ander borduurwerk uit de kast genomen en dat zijn de schaapjes (Little Sheep Virtues) van Little House Needleworks. Volgende keer zal ik hier een update van laten zien.

Give a book as a gift

 Elk jaar houden de Bakery Bears Valenvent. Dit begint op 1 februari en eindigt op 14 februari. Kay geeft de patrons dan een patroon dat ze kunnen breien. Twee jaar geleden was dit de Cerish Cowl.

Every year the Bakery Bears hold Valenvent. This starts on February 1 and ends on February 14. Kay then gives the patrons a pattern to knit. Two years ago that was the Cerish Cowl.

Ik gebruikte hiervoor de Rosy en de Purple Posy mini set van The Woolly Chicken en ik hield van elke kleur tussen de 9 en 10 gram over.

Dit jaar kregen we de Love Story sokken als patroon en ik ben hiervoor de restjes gaan gebruiken die ik over had van de col.

This year we received the Love Story socks as a pattern and I used the leftovers I had from the cowl for this.

Vorige week dinsdag was ik naar de sokkenclub bij Tante Tuttenbol die eens in de 6 weken wordt gehouden en ik heb de dames daar uitleg gegeven over hoe ze een ajourpatroon kunnen breien in hun sok. Ze kwamen er achter dat het niet eens zo moeilijk is.

Last Tuesday I went to the sock club at Tante Tuttenbol's that is held once every 6 weeks and I explained to the ladies there how they can knit a lace pattern in their sock. They found out that it's not even that difficult.

Afgelopen week was ook de startdatum voor "Geef een boek cadeau", dit gebeurd eenmaal per jaar. Ze hebben dan een bekend boek opnieuw gedrukt tegen een zeer lage prijs, 2,99 euro. Dit jaar is het Superjuffie van Janneke Schotveld. Ik kocht er weer vier (voor zoon en dochter en hun kinderen, voor petekind en 1 voor mezelf).

Last week was also the start date for "Give a book as a gift", this happens once a year. They have then reprinted a well-known book at a very low price, 2.99 euros. This year it is Superjuffie by Janneke Schotveld. I bought four books (for son and daughter and their children, for goddaughter and 1 for myself).

Morgenavond begint ook weer de sokcursus die Francien en ik geven, alweer voor de vijfde keer.  Ook dit keer zat de cursus weer snel vol met 10 deelneemsters.

Tomorrow evening the sock course that Francien and I are giving will start again, for the fifth time.  This time too, the course quickly filled up with 10 participants.

A quiet week

De derde kleur van The perfect socks staat erop en ik heb weer de 3e toer averecht gebreid. Kay Jones verft steeds een kleur naar een scene uit de film "You've got mail" in 12 afleveringen in hun video's.
Deze keer de scene van de Storybook lady die tussen allemaal kleurrijke kinderboeken zit. Ik koos een kleur van Fiberfever en hij heet I wanna see the rainbow high in the sky.

The third color of The perfect socks is knitted and I have again knit the 3rd row purlwise. Kay Jones dyes a color after a scene from the movie "You've got mail" in 12 episodes in their videos.
This time the scene of the Storybook lady who is sitting among all the colorful children's books. I chose a color from Fiberfever and it's called I wanna see the rainbow high in the sky.

Op 31 januari was de laatste uitzending van De Slimste Mens met Maarten van Rossem en Philip Freriks en wat was het spannend. In de eindstrijd stond Fank Heinen tegenover oud-politicus Klaas Dijkhoff en Frank Heinen won op het nippertje.

The last broadcast of De Slimste Mens with Maarten van Rossem and Philip Freriks was on January 31 and it was so exciting. In the final battle, Fank Heinen faced former politician Klaas Dijkhoff and Frank Heinen narrowly won.

Afgelopen week kwam ook de februari club binnen van S7ors. Ook deze keer had ik 5 mini's en een 50 grams streng.

Voor de rest was het een rustige week. Op dinsdagavond hebben Francien en ik de dames van de sokkenclub uitleg gegeven over hoe je een ajourpatroon in je sok breit. Ze hadden het snel onder de knie. Aanstaande dinsdag begint ook weer de sokkencursus voor de 5e keer.

For the rest it was a quiet week. On Tuesday evening, Francien and I explained to the ladies of the sock club how to knit a lace pattern in your sock. They quickly got the hang of it. Next Tuesday the sock course will start again for the 5th time.

My perfect socks and hospital visit

Geïnspireerd door de Hollywood-films uit de jaren negentig, deelt Kay Jones van de Bakery Bears in twaalf afleveringen 'My Perfect Socks', dat vanaf 3 januari op YouTube te zien is. Elke maand een nieuwe video.
In elke aflevering creëert Kay een kleurencombinatie die is geïnspireerd op een van haar favoriete scènes uit de film, 'You've Got Mail'. Vervolgens neemt ze je mee door elke fase van het breiproces van 'My Perfect Socks'.
Kay breit de sokken in effen vanille, maar ik voeg een averechte rij toe in de 3e toer.

Ik kreeg op 23 januari een herinnering op facebook van 6 jaar geleden. Dat was de dag dat we op een bewolkte dag een restaurant binnen liepen om samen te lunchen met dochterlief die 2 dagen erna naar Engeland zou verhuizen. Samen met andere familieleden en vriendinnen hadden we genoten van een heerlijke middag.

On January 23, I received a memory on Facebook from 6 years ago. That was the day we walked into a restaurant on a cloudy day to have lunch with our daughter who would be moving to England 2 days later. We enjoyed a wonderful afternoon together with other family members and friends.

Onze verbazing was groot dat toen we buiten kwamen het volop aan het sneeuwen was, er lag al een behoorlijke laag en Bowy (die toen nog leefde) genoot van hiervan.

Our surprise was that when we got outside it was snowing heavily, there was already quite a layer and Bowy (who was still alive at the time) enjoyed it.

Gisteren om 13 uur had ik ook de gastroscopie en coloscopie en om iets na 15 uur was ik weer thuis. Ze hadden me proposol gegeven ivm mijn longen. De sedatie is best wel snel uitgewerkt als de behandeling achter de rug is.
In de darmen hadden ze niets gevonden en in de maag volgens mij een paar oppervlakkige adertjes die misschien de oorzaak waren van het steeds ijzertekort wat ik heb. Er stond in elk geval APC maag op het formulier. Op 9 april moet ik terug komen bij de MDL arts en ik moet 1 week daarvoor weer bloedprikken om te zien of het ijzergehalte nu goed gebleven is.

Yesterday at 1 p.m. I also had the gastroscopy and colonoscopy and at just after 3 p.m. I was back home. They gave me proposol for my lungs. The sedation wears off quite quickly once the treatment is over.
They had found nothing in the intestines and I think there were a few superficial veins in the stomach that may have been the cause of the persistent iron deficiency I have. In any case, the form said APC stomach. I have to return to the doctor on April 9 and I have to take blood tests again 1 week before that to see whether the iron levels have remained good.
