Mijn kerst traditie heb ik overgenomen van mijn moeder die in 2001 plotseling overleed op 65 jarige leeftijd. Zij maakte op kerstavond altijd champion ragout pasteitjes en dat heb ik ook altijd gedaan sinds ik uit huis ging. Jullie weten dan gelijk wat wij vanavond eten. Van te voren gaan we naar de Engels militair begraafplaats in onze woonplaats waar we met heel veel mensen alle lichtjes op de graven aan gaan steken, zodat ze weten dat wij hun niet vergeten zijn.

I took over my Christmas tradition from my mother who died suddenly in 2001 at the age of 65. She used to make mushroom ragout pies on Christmas Eve and I have always done that since I left home. Then you know right away what we're having for dinner tonight. In advance we go to the English military cemetery in our hometown where we light all the lights on the graves with a lot of people, so that they know that we have not forgotten them.

Alle wolletjes van The Whoolly Chicken kalender zijn uitgepakt, dus ik heb de eerste 4 bolletjes  opgedraaid voor de Dust of Snow sjaal zodat ik 4 dagen vooruit kan. Mijn vriendin die dezelfde advent kalender had gaat ook deze sjaal breien.

 The first 4 balls are wind up for the Dust of Snow shawl so that I can go ahead for 4 days. My girlfriend who had the same advent calendar will also knit this shawl.

Direct na kerst plaats ik weer foto's met alle wolletjes en quiltstofjes bij elkaar, dan kun je precies zien wat in een kalender zat.
Vanavond en morgen heb ik nog een paar pakjes uit te pakken, want sommige hadden een pakje voor kerstavond en voor op 25 december.  Morgen hebben we ook feest want dan is Mees jarig.

Tonight and tomorrow I still have a few packages to unpack, because some had a package for Christmas Eve and for December 25th. Tomorrow we also have a party because it's Mees' birthday.

Deel 11 van de Yuletide sokken zijn de tenen en daarmee zijn de sokken af. Wat een leuk patroon was dit om te breien. Kay Jones ontwierp dit voor haar patreons in 2019.

Part 11 of the Yuletide socks are the toes and that's the end of the socks. What a fun pattern this was to knit. Kay Jones designed this for her patrons in 2019.

Wij gaan dit jaar 2e kerstdag naar onze zoon en zijn gezin, onze dochter met haar gezin komt ook, net als mijn petekind met haar man. Heerlijk gezellig met elkaar, daar draait het om.

We are going to our son and his family on Boxing Day this year, our daughter and her family are also coming, just like my godchild with her husband. Having fun together, that's what it's all about.

Je hebt wel erg veel thee kalenders dit jaar, wordt me regelmatig gevraagd en of ik die ook allemaal zelf op drink. Aan het einde van dit bericht mijn antwoord.

Vandaag in het (Duitse) adventskalender boek van Martina Behm weer een patroontje.

Today in the (German) advent calendar book by Martina Behm another pattern.

Deel 9 van de Yuletide sokken. Dit patroontje heet Advent Candle.

Dan nu waarom ik zoveel thee heb dit jaar. Vorig jaar pakte ik mis op de 3 doosjes die ik bij de DM in Duitsland kocht, de kalender van DM zelf, die van de Cupper (Clipper) en Yogi Tea. Nu was ik er op tijd bij en nam ze ook alle drie mee (van de Yogi thee nam ik er zelfs 2). Deze kalenders bevatten alleen maar kruiden theeën en daar hou ik ontzettend van. Voorgaande jaren had ik vaak de losse theesoorten kalenders en daar zaten er echt veel bij waar ik niet van hield.

Now why I have so much tea this year. Last year I missed out on the 3 boxes I bought at the DM in Germany, the calendar from DM itself, the one from the Cupper (Clipper) and Yogi Tea. Now I was there on time and so took all three with me (I even took 2 of the Yogi tea). These calendars only contain herbal teas and I love that very much. In previous years I often had the loose tea calendars and there were really a lot of them that I didn't like.

Omdat ik elk jaar ook een tweepersoonse theekalender heb, die Michiel en ik samen 's avonds drinken, ging ik dit jaar voor de Frog.Coffee kalender. Wij (Michiel en ik) houden ook erg van de Duitse merken thee, zoals Teekanne en Meßmer en in deze kalender zitten rond de 8 verschillende Duitse merken thee in. Elk merk heeft er dan 3 soorten van hun thee in gedaan. Tot nu toe bevalt deze ons uitstekend en elke thee is nog heerlijk geweest. Deze ga ik zeker volgend jaar weer kopen, net als de 3 van DM en ja .... alle thee drink ik zelf dagelijks op (behalve de tweepersoons, die deel ik met Michiel).

I also have a two-person tea calendar every year, which Michiel and I drink together in the evening, I went for the Frog.Coffee calendar this year. We (Michiel and I) also really like the German brands of tea, such as Teekanne and Meßmer and this calendar contains around 8 different German brands of tea. Each brand has then put 3 types of their tea in it. So far we like it very much and every tea has been delicious. I will definitely buy this again next year, just like the 3 from DM and yes .... I drink all the tea myself daily (except for the two-person one, which I share with Michiel).

 

Advent day 20

Gisteravond las ik weer een boek uit, volgens mij mijn 50ste van dit jaar. Ik hou elk jaar een boekenlijst bij die je aan de rechterkant op mijn blog kunt vinden. In de eerste week van het nieuwe jaar plaats ik dan een bericht met een overzicht waarin ik alle gelezen boeken laat zien.

Als je me vraagt wat zijn de leukste boeken die je gelezen hebt dit jaar dan zijn dat de boeken uit de Valerie Lane serie van Manuela Inusa. De meningen zijn verdeelt hierover maar ik persoonlijk had elk boek in 2 of 3 avonden uit en ik kijk in spannning uit naar deel 5.

If you ask me what are the best books you've read this year, those are the books from the Valerie Lane series by Manuela Inusa. Opinion is divided on this, but I personally finished each book in 2 or 3 evenings and I'm anxiously awaiting volume 5.

Advent day 19

Vaak wordt er gevraagd: Heb je een lievelingskleur? Ik vraag dan meestal om wat het gaat, want ik heb voor kleding een andere lievelingskleur dan bv voor het interieur in ons huis. Meer hierover aan het einde van dit bericht.

Deel 9 van de Yuletide sokken. Dit patroontje heet Snowed in for Christmas, want het lijkt net alsof er een sneeuwstorm gaande is.

Wat betreft lievelingskleuren, bij kleding ga ik als eerste voor blauw, daarna is groen aan de beurt en anders rood.
Als ik naar mijn interieur kijk dan zie ik niet echt 1 kleur, maar meerdere kleuren die terug komen. Het zijn vaak de wat antieke kleuren zoals donkerrood, grijsblauw, bruin, creme, ook de kleuren die ik weer vaak in mijn quilts gebruikt.
Moet ik een keuze maken wat breigaren betreft dan is mijn eerste keus vaak roze.
Zo zie je maar dat je meer lievelingskleuren kunt hebben.

As for favorite colors, when it comes to clothing I go for blue first, then green is next and red otherwise.
When I look at my interior I don't really see 1 color, but several colors that come back. It is often the somewhat antique colors such as dark red, gray blue, brown, cream, also the colors that I often use in my quilts.
If I have to make a choice when it comes to knitting yarn, my first choice is often pink.
So you see that you can have more favorite colors.
