Busy with stitching

Michiel is gisteren op controle bij bedrijfarts geweest en hij moet komende week ook nog thuis blijven, daarna mag hij voorzichtig eens proberen om eventjes te gaan werken. Naast de hoofdpijn heeft hij nog last van snel moe zijn, fel licht en bij bepaalde bewegingen last van duizeligheid. Gelukkig kan hij af en toe wel wat steekjes zetten aan een borduurwerkje.

Zelf ben ik nog bezig aan de stitcheries die ik komende week als freebie ga plaatsen, maar ook heb ik nog 2 stitcheries afgemaakt voor de Around Christmas quilt.

Michiel had to visit yesterday the doctor from work and he said Michiel can't go back to work next week. After that week he can try for a little to see if he can. Besides the headaches he is fast tired, has trouble with bright light and with certain movements suffer from dizziness. Fortunately he can occasionally do some stitching.
I myself am still working on the stitcheries that I will post later this week as a freebie, but I also finsihed 2 more stitcheries for the Around Christmas quilt.

Ik had ook nog 2 ontzettend leuke ornamentjes gekregen. Dit gingerbread ornamentje kreeg ik van Sylvia.

Vanmiddag ben ik nog bezig geweest met de pc want die is ineens sinds 2-3 dagen enorm traag met alles, maar ik kan nog steeds niet vinden waar het precies aan ligt.

This afternoon I have been busy with my pc because since a day or 2 -3 he is very slow with everything, but I still can't figure out what the problem is.

Slow motion ...

Afgelopen zaterdag zijn we bij Elly geweest omdat we nu wel eens wilde weten hoe we een pop of dier in elkaar gezet krijgen. Michiel keek af en toe wel behoorlijk wit en je merkte dat hij nog niet de oude was, maar hij wilde deze afspraak graag door laten gaan. Hij wilde graag een kip maken en hij kon al snel goed uit de voeten met de naaimachine. 

Last saturday we went to Elly, because we would love to know how to make dolls or animals from fabric.  Michiel looked occasionally pretty white and you could see that he still wasn't himself but he didn't want to cancel this appointment. He wanted to make a chicken and soon he was sewing at the sewingmachine.

Het kipje zelf is grotendeels door Elly in elkaar gezet, want ondanks haar goede uitleg, is het meeste toch langs hem heengegaan. Op wat hoofdpijn na, gaat het best redelijk met hem en hij zegt ook dat het lijkt of alles nog steeds iets in slow motion gaat. Het kipje moet wel nog verder afgewerkt worden.

The chicken itself is largely assembled by Elly, because despite her good explanation Michiel couldn't follow everything. He still has the headache and he said that it looks of everything goes in slow motion. As you can see there is still some work to do on the chicken.

Zelf kon ik weer eens niet kiezen en begon met het maken van een beertje en later werd er nog een begin gemaakt van een muis. Beide moeten nog verder afgewerkt worden. Helaas kreeg ik 's avonds nog meer last van mijn maag, die al een paar dagen overhoop ligt, en dit weekend heb ik grotendeels op de bank doorgebracht. Buikgriep in aantocht?

I couldn't choose between two things, so I started first with a bear and later I made a beginning with a mouse. Both still need some work. Unfortunately later the day I got trouble with my stomach, I hope I don't get the flu again.

Afgelopen vrijdag had ik weer 3 stitcheries af. Zoals je ziet hangen er kerstballen in de bomen. Nog 2 kleinere te gaan en 1 grotere stitcherie.

Last friday I finished another 3 stitcheries. As you can see the trees have christmasballs. Only 2 small to go and 1 larger stitchery.

Ik vertelde dat dit quiltje mijn eigen ontwerp is en daarmee bedoelde ik de lay-out, want de stitcheries heb ik niet zelf verzonnen. Het stof wat ik gebruik is van Anni Downs en van die serie is ook een stofpaneel met aparte afbeeldingen. Daarvan heb ik er een paar nagetekend en hier en daar wat aan mijn eigen wensen aangepast. Wel heb ik al een aantal ideeën voor wat eigen stitcheries, maar dat moet nog even wachten  :-)

I told that this quilt is my own design but I referred to the lay-out, because the stitcheries I haven't invented myself. I'm making this quilt with fabric from Anni Downs and in this serie is also a fabric panel with seperate images. I have drawn a few of these onto my fabric and some I have change a bit. I have already a few ideas for making my own stitcheries, but that has to wait for now :-)

Bang on the head

Woensdagavond half 7 telefoon: "Schat ik ben vanavond vroeg thuis".

Ik: "Is het dan niet druk op het werk?".

Michiel: "Jawel, maar ik zit nu in het ziekenhuis, er was een ongelukje op het werk".

Wat was er nu gebeurd ...

Michiel had een kooi met goederen op de pompwagen en stond net te overleggen met een collega, toen een bundel ijzeren pijpen naar voren kwam. Deze kreeg Michiel met een klap tegen de zijkant van zijn hoofd en stapte hij van de pompwagen af omdat hij dizzy begon te worden.

Wednesday evening 6.30 PM phone: "Honey I'm home early tonight".
Me: "Is it not busy at work?".
Michiel: "Yes, but I'm now at the hospital. There was an accident at work".
What happened was ....
Michiel had a cage with goods on the palletruck and was just talking with a colleague, when a bundle of iron pipes came forward. This came with a bang against the side of Michiel's head and he stepped down of the pallettruck because he began feeling dizzy.

Collega's zagen hoe Michiel in elkaar zakte en vingen hem op. Het volgende moment dat hij zich herinnerd is dat er veel collega's om hem heen stonden en ze vertelde hem dat hij 2 minuten helemaal van de wereld was geweest. Daarop werd een ambulance gebeld en hij moest mee naar het ziekenhuis, waar verschillende testen gedaan werden en voor de zekerheid een CT-scan. Gelukkig was er niets verontrustend te zien op de CT-scan en mocht hij met zijn lichte hersenschudding naar huis.

Colleagues saw how Michiel collaps and they catched him. The next moment that he remembered, was that there where many colleagueas around him and they told him that he was unconscious for 2 minutes. An ambulance was called and they took him to the hospital, where different tests were done and for the certainty a CT-scan. Fortuanately there was nothing disturbing seen on the CT-scan and he was allowed to go home with his slight concussion.

De komende dagen zal hij nog last hebben van hoofdpijn en hij moet rustig aan doen. Het gaat nu goed met hem en de humor zit er al weer goed in, want hij zei de volgende dag dat hij nu zwart op wit heeft dat er hersenen zitten, want wat er niet is kun je niet schudden. Waarop ik zei: "Dat je ze hebt wil nog niet zeggen dat je ze ook gebruikt".

The next few days he will still suffer from headaches and he has to do calm with everything. He is doing fine now and his humor is back because he said the next day that he had it now black and white that he has brains because  you can't shake what ain't there. To which I said: "That you have them does not mean that you are using them".

Ik heb ondertussen ook nog gewerkt aan de Around Christmas quilt en de eerste 3 blokjes zijn klaar.

In the meantime I also have been working on the Around Christmas quilt and the first 3 stitcheries are done.

Playing with fabrics

Na het maken van het kerstboomquiltje en de stitcherie hanger is het tijd om verder te gaan met mijn andere twee grotere kerstquilts; Christmas Bakeshop van Michelle Ridgway en de andere is een eigen ontwerp met de stofjes die ik 2 weken geleden kocht bij The Log Cabin.

After making my little christmas tree quilt and the stitchery hanger its time to work on my two other larger christmas quilts; Christmas Bakeshop from Michelle Ridgway and another which will be my own design making with the fabrics I bought two weeks ago from The Log Cabin.

Het was even brainstormen maar al snel had ik mijn ontwerp, grotendeels uitgetekend, op papier staan. Inmiddels  is het begin gemaakt en vanavond ga ik hiermee verder. De naam van deze quilt is Around Christmas.

I had done some thinking and soon I had my design draw onto paper. Now I have make a beginning, first blocks are done and tonight I'm going to work further on this one. The name of this quilt will be: Around Christmas.
