Love story socks and doing cross stitch again

Ik heb andere medicatie gekregen voor de neuropathie omdat ik de pregabaline niet langer kon verdragen, ik bleef constant duizelig. Ruim 14 dagen geleden gaf de arts me een ander medicijn dat amitriptyline heet. Ik begon met 10 mg en dit wordt steeds verder verhoogd zodat je het langzaam opbouwt.

I was put on different medication for the neuropathy because I could no longer tolerate the pregabalin, I remained constantly dizzy. More than 14 days ago the doctor gave me another medicine called amitriptyline. I started with 10 mg and this is gradually increased so that you build it up slowly.

De bijwerking tot een paar dagen terug was dat ik echt nergens zin in had, ik raakte geen breinaald meer aan. Er was wel iets waar ik weer zin in kreeg en dat was borduren. Ik haalde de Quiltsampler VI van Linda Myers tevoorschijn en heb sinds jaren weer eens wat steekjes gezet en ik moet zeggen, het kriebelt weer.

The side effect until a few days ago was that I really didn't feel like doing anything, I no longer touched a knitting needle. There was something that made me want to do it again and that was embroidery. I took out the Quilt Sampler VI from Linda Myers and put some stitches in the past few years and I have to say, I enjoy it again.

De Love story sokken had ik 14 dagen geleden al af en door met verschillende kleuren te breien zijn ze heel erg leuk geworden. Het garen is van The Woolly Chicken.

I finished the Love story socks 14 days ago and by knitting with different colors they became a lot of fun. The yarn is from The woolly Chicken.

Wat ik wel nog heb gebreid is de vierde kleur van de Perfect socks. Deze kleur stelt de herfst in New York voor.

What I did knit is the fourth color of the Perfect socks. This color represents autumn in New York.

En op 11 februari begon weer de cursus Sokken breien op de rondbreinaald. Dit is de 5e keer dat ik hem samen met Francien geef bij Tante Tuttebol. Voor mij ook de laatste keer, want ik merk dat het mij gewoon teveel energie kost en ik dagen nodig heb om bij te komen.

And on February 11, the sock knitting course on circular needles started again. This is the 5th time that I give it at the shop of Tante Tuttebol together with Francien. Also the last time for me, because I notice that it simply costs me too much energy and I need days to recover.

Naast de Quiltsampler VI heb ik nog een ander borduurwerk uit de kast genomen en dat zijn de schaapjes (Little Sheep Virtues) van Little House Needleworks. Volgende keer zal ik hier een update van laten zien.

Give a book as a gift

 Elk jaar houden de Bakery Bears Valenvent. Dit begint op 1 februari en eindigt op 14 februari. Kay geeft de patrons dan een patroon dat ze kunnen breien. Twee jaar geleden was dit de Cerish Cowl.

Every year the Bakery Bears hold Valenvent. This starts on February 1 and ends on February 14. Kay then gives the patrons a pattern to knit. Two years ago that was the Cerish Cowl.

Ik gebruikte hiervoor de Rosy en de Purple Posy mini set van The Woolly Chicken en ik hield van elke kleur tussen de 9 en 10 gram over.

I used the Rosy and the Purple Posy mini set from The Woolly Chicken and I had between 9 and 10 grams of each color left.

Dit jaar kregen we de Love Story sokken als patroon en ik ben hiervoor de restjes gaan gebruiken die ik over had van de col.

This year we received the Love Story socks as a pattern and I used the leftovers I had from the cowl for this.

Vorige week dinsdag was ik naar de sokkenclub bij Tante Tuttenbol die eens in de 6 weken wordt gehouden en ik heb de dames daar uitleg gegeven over hoe ze een ajourpatroon kunnen breien in hun sok. Ze kwamen er achter dat het niet eens zo moeilijk is.

Last Tuesday I went to the sock club at Tante Tuttenbol's that is held once every 6 weeks and I explained to the ladies there how they can knit a lace pattern in their sock. They found out that it's not even that difficult.

Afgelopen week was ook de startdatum voor "Geef een boek cadeau", dit gebeurd eenmaal per jaar. Ze hebben dan een bekend boek opnieuw gedrukt tegen een zeer lage prijs, 2,99 euro. Dit jaar is het Superjuffie van Janneke Schotveld. Ik kocht er weer vier (voor zoon en dochter en hun kinderen, voor petekind en 1 voor mezelf).

Last week was also the start date for "Give a book as a gift", this happens once a year. They have then reprinted a well-known book at a very low price, 2.99 euros. This year it is Superjuffie by Janneke Schotveld. I bought four books (for son and daughter and their children, for goddaughter and 1 for myself).

Morgenavond begint ook weer de sokcursus die Francien en ik geven, alweer voor de vijfde keer.  Ook dit keer zat de cursus weer snel vol met 10 deelneemsters.

Tomorrow evening the sock course that Francien and I are giving will start again, for the fifth time.  This time too, the course quickly filled up with 10 participants.

Quick (long) update

Elke keer weer neem ik me voor om niet zo lang te wachten met het schrijven van een nieuw bericht, maar voor ik het weet zijn er weer weken voorbij gevlogen. Soms denk ik weleens, moet ik wel doorgaan met mijn blog als het schijnbaar zoveel moeite kost, maar ik schrijf hier al vanaf 2006 en ik wil er niet mee stoppen.
Ik kijk zelf nog zo vaak op mijn blog als ik weer eens iets terug moet zoeken, dus nee ... ik stop niet met dit blog ook al duurt het soms weken voor ik een update plaats. Ja Mees, ik zou er ook moe van worden.

Every time I resolve not to wait that long before writing a new post, but before I know it, weeks have flown by. Sometimes I think, should I continue with my blog if it apparently takes so much effort, but I have been writing here since 2006 and I don't want to stop.
I still look at my blog so often when I have to look up something, so no ... I will not stop this blog, even though it sometimes takes weeks before I post an update. Yes Mees, it would make me tired too.

Na het laatste bericht heb ik 5 paar sokken gebreid en ik heb ze even op een rijtje gezet.
De nieuwste serie van Opal is de Regenwald 20 jarig jubileum. Dat betekent 20 jaar de regenwoud serie en om dat te vieren heeft Opal 16 kleuren gekozen uit de meest populaire kleuren van voorbij gaande jaren.

The latest series from Opal is the Rainforest 20th anniversary. That means 20 years of the rainforest series and to celebrate, Opal has chosen 16 colors from the most popular colors over the years.

Ik heb ze verdeelt in 2 groepen en heb de eerste 8 bollen opgedraait tot cakes (zo kan ik voelen of er knoopjes in het garen zitten).Voordat ik met elke kleur een paar sokken ga breien, brei ik eerst een paar scrappy sokken met deze 8 kleuren. De kleuren zijn: 4004, 5145, 8460, 8467, 8972, 9622, 9770 en 9777.

I divided them into 2 groups and wind the first 8 balls into cakes (this way I can feel if there are knots in the yarn). Before I knit a pair of socks with each color, I first knit a pair of scrappy socks with these 8 colors. The colors are: 4004, 5145, 8460, 8467, 8972, 9622, 9770 and 9777.

De Waffle socks, een patroon dat eigenlijk bedoeld was voor DK garen maar ik heb ze gebreid met gewoon sokkengaren. Het patroon is van kay Jones, het 4e platium patroon voor patrons.

De Spring Shorty socks, ze zijn gebreid met het garen van The Woolly Chicken in de kleur Goudvink (bullfinch) uit haar maandelijkse vogel serie.

Sockoween begon ook weer op 1 oktober, dit wordt elke jaar georganiseerd door de Bakaery Bears voor hun patrons.
Mijn eerste paar was de Incantation socks van Kay Jones. Het garen was van Nicole C. Mendez in de kleur Happy Halloween.

Als tweede paar voor Sockoween gebruikte ik de mini strengen uit de oktober yarn club van s7ors. Ik noem ze mijn Autumn Ghost sokken, want het grijs is het spook tussen de herfstkleuren.

As a second pair for Sockoween I use the mini skeins from the October yarn club from s7ors. I call them my Autumn Ghost socks, because the gray is the ghost between the autumn colors.

 

 

Op 18 oktober waren we op weg naar Maastricht voor mijn jaarlijkse MRI, met op de naald mijn 3e sok voor Sockoween (op 1 november weer terug voor de uitslag).

On October 18 we were on our way to Maastricht for my annual MRI, with my 3rd sock for Sockoween on the needle (and back on November 1 for the resultst).

Het prachtige halloween zelfstrepend garen is van Crealien design  en  heet Sweet 'n Spooky. Ik had gekozen voor de gold sparkle streng.

The beautiful Halloween self-striping yarn is from Crealien design and is called Sweet 'n Spooky. I choose the gold sparkle skein.

 

Naast sjaals vind ik cols ook fijn om te dragen dus daar werd ook aan gewerkt.
Het vijfde boek voor de Reading Corner cowl was The Christmas Holiday van Phillipa Ashley.
Kay had dit keer 2 kleuren geverfd, een in een traditionele kleur en een in een moderne kerstkleur. Ik had nog een kleur liggen van Little Bishes Stitches in de kleur Merry & Bright die er perfect bij paste.

De kleur die Kay omschrijft van een rose kamer met uitzicht op zee vond ik in mijn voorraad. Deze streng is van  Sandra craftfulness in de kleur Garden Party die er goed bij paste.
Het gratis patroon is van Kay Jones, op hun youtube kanaal Bakery Bears zijn de afleveringen van the Yarny Book Club te vinden.

The sixth and final book for the Reading Corner cowl is Coming Home from Rosamunde Pilcher (a brilliant book to read).
I found the color that Kay describes of a pink room with a sea view in my stash. This skein is from Sandra craftfulness in the color Garden Party which matched it well.  
The free pattern is from Kay Jones, the episodes of the Yarny Book Club can be found on their YouTube channel Bakery Bears.

Ik had een col gebreid voor de winkel van Tante Tuttebol  en ook het patroon voor deze Bandana col geschreven.
Dit patroon krijg je gratis bij aankoop van het garen dat je nodig hebt om deze te breien (1 bol terrazzo van Scheepjes in veel kleuren verkrijgbaar).
Hij draagt heerlijk en is lekker warm rondom je nek.

I knitted a cowl for Tante Tuttebol's shop and also wrote the pattern for this Bandana cowl.
You get this pattern for free when you purchase the yarn you need to knit this (1 ball of terrazzo from Scheepjes available in many colors).
It is comfortable to wear and is nice and warm around your neck.

 

Een tijdje terug waren we ook naar Marie-louise Van Het Breipunt geweest, want ik wilde graag een paar bollen Soft Donegal. Hiermee wilde ik de Bombini breien, een col patroon van Kay Jones.
Ik kon geen keuze maken tussen deze 2 combinaties, dus kocht ik alle 4 de kleuren.

Awhile back we went to Het breipunt, because I wanted a few colors of Soft Donegal. With this I wanted to knit the Bombini, a cowl pattern from Kay Jones.
I couldn't make a choice between these 2 combinations, so I bought all four colors.

 

De eerste Bombini dan ook snel gebreid.

The first Bombini was a fast knit.

 

Verder zag ik nog een prachtige sjaal hangen in streep patroon en ook hiervoor kocht ik de garens. Deze wordt gebreid met Het Breipunt Supersoft.

I also saw a beautiful shawl hanging in a stripe pattern and I also bought the yarn for this. This is knitted with Het Breipunt Supersoft. 

 

Er worden 15 kleuren Supersoft gebruikt die steeds mooi in elkaar overlopen.

There are 15 Supersoft colors that blend beautifully into each other.

 

Twee weken later nogmaals naar Marie-louise Van Het Breipunt gereden omdat ik 2 kleuren supersoft moest hebben die bij de kleur Robins Eggs past. Ik ga hiermee de Dobbinwood van Kay Jones maken, een grote omslagdoek. Ik koos voor Mariner en Iced.

Two weeks later we drove again to @het_breipunt because I needed 2 colors of supersoft that match the color Robins Eggs. I am going to use this to make Kay Jones' Dobbinwood, a large shawl/wrap. I chose Mariner and Iced. 

 

Ook nog 4 kleuren Donegal uitgekozen voor nog 2 Bombini's.

Daarna doorgereden naar de Midgetgolfbaan in Geldrop, we zijn hier al vaker geweest en door de vele bomen was het toch te doen ondanks het warme weer. Ik was weer de grote verliezer.
Daarna heerlijk uit eten geweest bij restaurant Heidehof.

Then we drove to the Minigolf course in Geldrop, we have been here before and because of the many trees it was still manageable despite the warm weather. I was the big loser again.
After that we had a lovely dinner at restaurant Heidehof.

 

Twee weken geleden ben ik ook verder gegaan met de linen stitch deken, hij lag al meer dan 1 jaar stil.
Hij wordt gemaakt met 36 mini strengen van 20 grams, dubbel gehouden met een draad zilvergrijs. Hier ben ik bezig met kleur 23, dus het schiet op.

Two weeks ago I picked up again the linen stitch blanket, it had been lying still for more than 1 year.
It is made with 36 mini skeins of 20 grams, held double with a silver gray yarn. Here I was working on color 23, so I am making progress. 

 

En na een paar dagen was ik al aan kleur 28.

In september hebben Francien en ik ook weer een workshop Sokken breien op de rondbreinaald gegeven bij Tante Tuttebol. Dit was voor de vierde keer nu.

In September, Francien and I also gave another workshop on knitting socks on circular needles at Tante Tuttebol. This was the fourth time now.

 

Ook kwamen er weer 3 kleuren binnen van de maandelijkse Vogelclub van The Woolly Chicken, van links naar rechts Boomklever, Zwaluw, Goudvink (Nuthatch, Swallow, Goldfinch).

In september kwam ook de 3e zending van mijn Opal abonnement van 2024 (4x per jaar 6 bollen)  binnen en ze zijn weer prachtig.

The third shipment of my Opal subscription of 2024 (6 balls 4 times a year) arrived this afternoon and the colors are beautiful again. 

 

Je kon er ook 2 bollen bij bestellen met spikkels die ik enorm leuk vond (onderste 1660, bovenste 1661). Het tijdschrift kreeg ik er gratis bij.

You could also order 2 balls with speckles, which I really liked (bottom 1660, top 1661). I received the magazine for free.

 

Van Laurie Gilmore kwamen 3 boeken uit die me super mooi leken. Nadat ik het eerste boek The Pumpkin Spice cafe had besteld, had ik de andere 2 als pre-order besteld. In een tijdstek van een paar weken kwamen ook deze op de markt. In het voorjaar komt het 4e boek uit.

Laurie Gilmore published 3 books that seemed great to me. After I ordered the first book The Pumpkin Spice Cafe, I pre-ordered the other 2. These also came onto the market within a few weeks. The 4th book will be published in the spring.

De eerste adventkalenders zijn ook weer binnen gekomen en jullie weten wat dat betekend. Voor diegene die het leuk vinden post ik in december weer elke dag een berichtje. Voor diegene die het niet leuk vinden, gewoon de berichten overslaan, heel eenvoudig !
Over een paar dagen komt er nog een bericht want ik heb nog leuke foto's van de kleindochters en aangezien deze post al zo lang werd, post ik ze in een nieuw bericht.
