Bowy in bad

Als Bowy aan het wandelen is, dan vind hij een modderpoel altijd even leuk. Ook een grote plas water schuwt hij niet en het liefst gaat hij er midden in zitten.

When Bowy is walking, he always likes a pool of mud. And when he sees a large pool of water healways wants to sit in it. 

Maar thuis is water een ander verhaal ... Gisteren was het echt tijd om hem weer eens te wassen en bij het zien van het bad was meneer het liefst er vandoor gegaan.

But at home, water is a different story ... Yesterday it was time to wash him and when he saw the bad he would ran away if we let him.

Ondanks alle bedrijvigheid heb ik toch kans gezien om de 2 blokken van de Star and Plume quilt van vorige maand te maken.

Dit keer blok 2 Friday the 13th (Vrijdag de 13e) ...

Dit is het huis waar Sue woont en ze houdt wel van een beetje gezelligheid, daarom dat er een leuk gordijn voor haar raam hangt.

This is the house were Sue lives and she likes it there, thats why she has a nice curtain for her window.

Er zijn nu 8 blokken gemaakt van deze quilt en de volgende 2 liggen al klaar om gemaakt te worden. In onderstaande tekst van het liedje heb ik aangegeven welke blokken al gemaakt zijn.

I made 8 blocks so far and the next 2 are ready to sew. In the song text below I have marked the blocks I already made.

Two blocks made

Nu het kompas klaar is van de LE quilt en deel 2 pas maandag komt, heb ik de laatste 2 dagen besteed aan het maken van de 2 blokjes voor de Star and Plume quilt die ik begin juli ontving.

Bij het eerste blok ging ik al meteen de fout in, want ik heb het in spiegelbeeld gemaakt. Ach ja, dan is mijn blokje Card Trick toch net even anders als het origineel.

Now that my compass of the LE quilt is ready and part 2 isn't released yet, I have worked the last 2 days on the 2 blocks of the Star and Plume quilt I got at the beginning of this month.

With the first block I went wrong straight away, because I made it in reverse. Oh well, then my block Card Trick is a bit different then the original.

Daarna was het de beurt aan het Log Cabin blok en ik mag het misschien niet zeggen, maar een log cabin blok vind ik helemaal niet leuk om te maken ... al die rechte lijnen. Maar goed ... ik heb hem toch gemaakt want hij hoort tenslotte in deze quilt ;-) En in het midden staan 2 schaapjes vrolijk te blaten.

Then it was time for the Log Cabin block and I may not say it, but I don't like to make a log cabin block ... all those straight lines. But ... I made it because it belongs in this quilt ;-) In the middle I have put two happy sheep.

Bowy is ook weer blij dat de zon weer schijnt, want nu kan hij weer rollebollen op het gras met zijn tennisbal.

Bowy is also glad that the sun is shining again, because now he can play with his tennis ball on the grass.

Vandaag ook weer een aantal foto's gemaakt in de tuin, zoals deze van de Abutilon die nu volop in bloei staat.

Today I also made some garden pictures, such as this one of the Abutilon which is blooming now.

Ook deze spin vind onze stokroos erg mooi ;-)

Deze bloem steekt toch zeker niet zijn middelvinger naar me uit ? hihihi ...

I hope not that this flower sticks out his middle finger to me, hihihi ....

Next two blocks ...

Sinds 3 dagen ben ik weer steekjes aan het zetten, want ik ben, in overleg met dochterlief, gestopt met het zwachtelen van mijn elleboog. Het hielp namelijk helemaal niets. De elleboog zou al in dikte moeten zijn afgenomen, maar neehoor ... het enige wat er gebeurde was dat mijn vingers gingen opzwellen.

Anderdaag moet ik toch terug op controle bij de huisarts en als de elleboog dan nog hetzelfde is, dan laat ik hem maar doorprikken en hopen dat er geen infectie bijkomt.

* EDIT: lezers nemen aan dat ik morgen naar de dokter moet, maar ik bedoel met anderdaag, over een paar weekjes :-)

Voordeel van mijn "vrije" arm is, dat ik weer quiltsteekjes kan zetten. Afgelopen weekend kwamen de volgende 2 blokken binnen voor de Star and Plume Quilt (klik) en die heb ik maar meteen gemaakt. Dit keer was het blok 19 en 37.

Since 3 days I can stitch again, because I am, in consultation with my daughter, stopped bandaging my elbow. It helped nothing at all. The elbow would already have to have diminished in tickness, but no ... the only thing that happened was that my fingers began to swell.

Soon I have to go back to my doctor for my blood pressure control and if the elbow is still the same, I let him puncture it and hope that I don't get an infection from that.

Advantage of my "free" arm is that I can make stitches again. Last weekend we get the next 2 blocks for the Star and Plume Quilt (click) and I have made them immediately. This time we get the blocks 19 and 37.

En begint dan eindelijk de lente? Gistermiddag was het heerlijk vertoeven in de tuin en ik heb enige tijd heerlijk buiten gezeten, werkend aan de blokjes van een quilt die al een tijdje te liggen lag om afgemaakt te worden.

And starts then finally spring? Yesterday afternoon it was great to relax in the garden and I have been sitting outside for some time, working on blocks of a quilt that was lying for quite some time now and screams to be finished.

Terwijl ik pompoenen aan het appliceren was, lag Bowy zoals gewoonlijk als de zon schijnt, heerlijk te slapen op het gras ... met tennisbal uiteraard :-)

While I was appliquéing pumpkins, Bowy was as usually when the sun is shining, sleeping on the grass ... with tennis ball of course :-)

Ook de kikker in de vijver lag heerlijk te zonnebaden !

Also the frog in the pond was sunbathing !

Star and Plume Quilt

Cathy Miller, ook wel bekend als de zingende quiltster, heeft naast haar vele cd's, ook verschillende quilts op haar naam staan. Zelf heb ik 4 cd's van haar en ik luister er altijd graag naar, omdat elk lied een quilt thema heeft. Op You Tube vond ik dit filmpje waar ze een van haar liedjes zingt.

Cathy Miller, also know as The Singing Quilter, has besides her many cd's, also made many quilts. I have 4 cd's of her and I enjoy listen to them because every song has a quilt theme. On You Tube I found this film where she sings one of her songs.

Sommige liedjes worden door haar omgezet in een quilt, zo ook het liedje Star en Plume (te vinden op haar cd A Quilter's World). Jarenlang vroegen quiltsters of ze niet een patroon uit wilde brengen van deze scrappy sampler quilt en enige tijd geleden besloot ze dit te gaan doen in de vorm van een BOM. Hier is de tekst van het liedje Star and Plume en de quiltblokken die in de quilt zitten zijn onderstreept.

Some of her songs are translate to quilts, also the song Star and Plume (you can find this song on her cd A Quilter's World). Several years quilters ask her if she would be willing to make a pattern of this scrappy sampler quilt and some time ago she decided to do it in the form of a BOM. In dit bericht op haar BLOG (klik) kun je alles lezen over deze BOM. De quilt bestaat uit 48 blokken van 9 inch en elke maand stuurt ze 2 patronen per email op, zodat je na 2 jaar de quilt kompleet hebt. Bij elk blok zit een hele duidelijke uitleg (met foto's) over hoe dat betreffende blok te maken.

Eigenlijk wilde ik voorlopig geen nieuw project onder handen nemen, maar ik hou nu eenmaal van haar liedjes en ook nog eens van scrappy samplers, dus de keus om mee te doen was niet moeilijk. Bovendien zijn 2 blokken per maand makkelijk bij te houden. Ik ga hem maken met allemaal verschillende rode en wit/creme stofjes. Op 1 mei kregen we de eerste 2 patronen die ik meteen gemaakt hebt.

In this messages on her BLOG (click) you can read all about this BOM. The quilt contains 48 blocks of 9 inch and every month she send 2 patterns through email, so after 2 years the quilt is complete. By every pattern she explains (with pictures) how to make the block.

I didn't want to start a new project but I just love her songs and I love scrappy samplers, so the decision was made quick. Besides, 2 blocks a month is easy to make. I'm going to make it in all kind of red and white/creme fabrics. On may 1 we got the first 2 patterns which I already made.
