Potpourri quilt is finished !!

Finally I finished my Potpourri quilt. Total time I worked on this quilt is 11 weeks. All handpieced and handquilted. The size is 50" x 58"

In the block with the cross stitch border I sewed 5 old buttons

On each corner I quilted a heart

The last thing to do was making the label for the back of the quilt

I'm very happy with this quilt and it is hanging above the sofa, so when I sit there I can look up and see it ....

Potpourri quilt top

Finaly my shoulders are alot better so I could iron the quilt top and make the photo.

And now I can sandwich the quilt and start quilting !!!

My next large project will be the SBS (short for the Sylvia bridal Sampler). I'm going to make this with a white background fabric (which I have orderd and will arrive soon) and combine it will all sort of blue fabrics.

But I still have to wait for the white fabric to arrive, so till that time I have began te make some little basket blocks. 

This is for a little wall quilt with a total of 12 blocks. The blocks are only  4 inch.

And YES .... The Netherlands won last night and there are going to play in the final of the FIFA world cup in South Africa on sunday !

Potpourri quilt row 6

Yes ... I finished row 6. This was the last row and all 30 blocks are done !!

I liked working on these blocks, they where so much fun to do.

In this row there was only one stitching piece;

a sewing machine

On one block came some lace

Currently I'm working on the border. Thats alot of work because the border are many, many little strips sew together. The next few days I'm also going to work on the July ornament of LHN because June is almost over and I want my calendar to be finished at that time.

My summer jasmine is blooming in the garden and it has so many little pink flowers.

And the smell ..... Ohhhh ..... pure jasmine scent is hanging in the air.

Potpourri quilt row 5

Well ... I still have the flu but in between being sick, I also have been working on the potpourri quilt. So row 5 is finished now.

In this row where 2 stitching pieces;

this one had bobbins (do you call them so?) and buttons

On the second one there is a border. In this border I'm going to sew some antique buttons, after the quilt is completed, because otherwise the buttons get in the way when I'm quilting this quilt.

Now I'm working on the last row (row 6) and there is only 1 stitching piece in it.

Potpourri quilt row 4

I hope you all had a nice weekend, we didn't do much besides pay a visit to a friend on saturday.

Sice yesterday I have been sick, I got the flu, so I don't think I can stitch much.

I did finish row 4 of the potpourri quilt

 and in this row there where 2 stitching parts;

first a ABC

and a little sampler with a applique heart

here the complete row 4

and ofcourse I sew row 4 for together with the other 3 rows

Only 2 rows to go :)

Potpourri quilt row 3

And row 3 of the potpourri quilt is ready, in this row there where 3 stitching pieces;

first some lace stitching

This one I have change. In the original quilt I had to stitch a house with two people but I didn't like that one, so I stitch these flowers from the pattern Boite a boutons from Tralala

And then there was the heart that I showed you yesterday

And now the complete row 3

I sew row 3 together with row 1 and 2 and this is what its look like right now

I'm half way whit this quilt, 3 rows to go :)

Another 5 blocks are ready, this is the second row

On the left there's a heart

and on the right there are 3 thimble's

I sew row 1 and row 2 together so it already begins to look as a quilt

The sun is shining and the blocks wanted some sunshine :)

First row of the potpourri quilt

Do you remember the fabrics I showed you a few messages back?

Wel ... I started with this quilt.

The originel name of the Dutch pattern is "Celine" but I have changed it into "Potpourri" because its a mixture of fabric, stitching pieces and some lace and .... I found it a realy good name for this quilt.

The originel quilt was made with onlu red and white fabric but I have choose for a "antique" look.

Okay ... the first 5 blocks (of 30) are finished and sew together
