Another week has passed

 In de nacht van 8 op 9 januari viel er sneeuw, niet heel veel maar Mees vond het geweldig.

On the night of January 8 to 9, snow fell, not a lot, but Mees loved it.

Voor de vogels wordt ook goed gezorgd.

Er viel op 10 januari ook nog iets sneeuw en Michiel kon een kleine sneeuwpop maken op de tuintafel. De kleindochters vonden het geweldig toen ze de volgende dag kwamen.

Some snow also fell on January 10 and Michiel was able to make a small snowman on the garden table. The granddaughters loved it when they came the next day.

Ze kwamen het dekentje halen dat ik voor Loïs had gehaakt. Dit is het 2e dekentje voor haar stapelbed in haar poppenhuis.

They came to get the blanket that I had crocheted for Loïs. This is the 2nd blanket for her bunk bed in her dollhouse.

Maar ze kwamen ook omdat mijn dochter Lindy haar sok kwam passen. Ze had al vaker gevraagd om een paar zelf gebreide sokken. Ze houdt van roze en dus zocht ik verschillende bolletjes Opal bij elkaar.

But they also came because my daughter Lindy came to try on her sock. She had often asked for a pair of self-knitted socks. She likes pink so I looked for several balls of Opal together.

De maat was goed en ik heb nu bijna de sokken af.

The size was right and I have almost finished the socks now.

Op 7 januari was er ook een sokkenclub avond bij Tante Tuttebol. Gewoon dames die gezellig bij elkaar komen om sokken te breien. Ze hadden gevraagd of ik uit wilde leggen hoe je scrappy sokken breid en hoe je dan de draadjes allemaal instopt. Dit heb ik die avond uitgelegd en ze zijn aan de slag gegaan met hun restjes om daarvan sokken te breien.

On January 7 there was also a sock club evening at Tante Tuttebol. Just ladies who get together to knit socks. They asked me to explain how to knit scrappy socks and how to weave in all the ends. I explained this that evening and they started working with their leftovers to knit socks.

Mijn dochter stuurde me deze foto op 9 januari, het was toen precies 5 jaar dat we in Engeland waren om kleindochter Lana te zien die op 13 december geboren was. We zijn toen 10 dagen daar geweest en wat hebben we toen genoten. In augustus dat jaar (2020) precies tussen 2 golven van de corona golf, kwamen ze definitief in Nederland wonen en we zijn daar nog steeds heel blij om. Ze wonen nu dichtbij en we zien ze regelmatig.

My daughter sent me this photo on January 9th, exactly 5 years ago that we were in England to see granddaughter Lana who was born on December 13th. We were there for 10 days and we enjoyed it so much. In August that year (2020), exactly between 2 waves of the corona wave, they came to live in the Netherlands permanently and we are still very happy about that. They now live close by and we see them regularly.

Het eerste boek van dit jaar is ook gelezen: Sneeuw, sterren en kaneel van Helene Holmström, wat een geweldig boek om te lezen. Inmiddels ben ik begonnen in het nieuwste boek van Karen Swan, de Canadese ontmoeting en ik zou zeggen ... zeker lezen !

The first book of this year has also been read: Snow, Stars and Cinnamon by Helene Holmström, what a great book to read. I have now started Karen Swan's latest book, Christmas under the stars and I would say... definitely read it!

Advent day 4

Gisteren een heerlijke dag bij vrienden gehad die we al enige tijd door omstandigheden niet gezien hadden. Wat heb je dan veel bij te praten. Terwijl we daar zaten begon het te sneeuwen, zo mooi. Gelukkig hadden we er niet al te veel last van op de terugweg 's avonds.

Yesterday we had a wonderful day with friends that we had not seen for some time due to circumstances. You have so much to catch up on. While we were sitting there it started to snow, so beautiful. Fortunately, it didn't bother us too much on the way back in the evening.

De Sonnentor kalender kreeg ik gisteren pas en ik heb meteen de eerste 3 dagen uitgepakt.

I only received the Sonnentor calendar yesterday and I immediately unpacked the first 3 days.

Pippi Langkous vriendenswap (door mij gemaakt), het garen is van Nicole C. Mendez in de kleur Christmas Cookies en Yogi thee.
Na de eerste 3 kleuren heb ik de hak gebreid, de andere 5 kleuren zijn voor de voet.

De Granny square sjaal die ik gehaakt heb voor de winkel van Tante tuttebol is ook af. Hij is gemaakt met 3 bollen Lang Yarns Mille Colori Socks & Lace Luxe in de kleur 859 met haaknaald 4.5 mm. Ik heb meteen het patroon op papier gezet, zodat als iemand garen hiervoor koopt, ze het patroon erbij krijgen.

The Granny square schawl that I crocheted for Tante Tuttebol's shop is also finished. It is made with 3 balls of Lang Yarns Mille Colori Socks & Lace Luxe in color 859 with a 4.5 mm crochet hook. I immediately put the pattern on paper, so that if someone buys yarn for this, they will receive the pattern with it.

My plans for December

Ik mocht vandaag al een cadeau uitpakken van de vriendinnen swap en kijk eens wat voor moois daar uit kwam. Een prachtige breitas, wat heeft ze die schitterend gemaakt.

Today I was could unwrap a gift from the friends swap and look what a beautiful thing came out of it. A beautiful knitting bag, how beautifully she made it.

Wat ga ik verder allemaal doen in december? Als eerste ga ik kijken welk project Kay van de Bakery Bears gaat maken dit jaar. Ze heeft al laten weten dat we 3 kleuren van 50 gram nodig hebben en het thema is notenkraker. Als het ontwerp me aanstaat dan ga ik deze kleuren gebruiken van Wol met Verve.

What else am I going to do in December? First I'm going to see what project Kay from the Bakery Bears will make this year. She has already let us know that we need 3 colors of 50 grams and the theme is nutcracker. If I like the design, I will use these colors from Wol met Verve.

Ik weet niet hoeveel werk het advent project van Kay is, maar ik wil graag proberen om ook elke dag de kleur te breien voor de Pippi Langkous vriendinnen swap die ik gemaakt heb.
De bedoeling is namelijk om samen met de 24 bolletjes sokkenwol die ik bijgesloten heb en waarvan ze er elke dag 1 gaat openen per 1 december, om daar 3 paar sokken van te breien. 8 bolletjes voor een paar sokken. De 3 bolletjes die ik er extra bij had gedaan zijn voor boorden, hakken en tenen. De gele hoort bij bolletje 1 tm 8, de oranje bij bolletje 9 tm 16 en de groene bij bolletje 17 tm 24. De bolletjes hebben per 8 ook een ander merk/thema, dus 3 paar sokken die elk hun eigen merk/thema hebben.
Ze mocht op 20 november deze 3 bolletjes al uitpakken (samen met een projecttas), zodat ze alvast de boorden zou kunnen breien van de sokken, wat ik ook gedaan heb, zodat die klaar zouden zijn als het 1 december is.

I don't know how much work Kay's advent project is, but I would like to try to knit the color every day for the Pippi Longstocking friends swap that I made.
The intention is to knit 3 pairs of socks together with the 24 balls of sock wool that I have included and of which she will open 1 every day from December 1st. 8 balls for a pair of socks. The 3 extra balls I added are for cuffs, heels and toes. The yellow one belongs to balls 1 to 8, the orange to balls 9 to 16 and the green to balls 17 to 24. The balls also have a different brand/theme per 8, so 3 pairs of socks, each with their own brand/theme.
She was allowed to unpack these 3 balls on November 20th (along with a project bag), so that she could knit the cuffs of the socks, which I also did, so that they would be ready when December 1st came.

En een verhaal uit 24 Stories for Advent (24 verhalen voor Advent) van Brigitte Weninger. Een Duitstalig kinderboek (een boek voor het kind in mij) dat vertaald is in het Engels.
Als Kerstmis voor de deur staat, is alles mogelijk: vier elfjes brouwen een wenspunch in het bos, mevrouw Holle bedekt de aarde met sneeuw en de kinderen wachten op het Christuskind. Brigitte Weninger begeleidt ons door de adventstijd met 24 betoverende verhalen. Een schat voor een heel bijzondere tijd, prachtig geïllustreerd door Eve Tharlet.

Verder heb ik ook het boek The Christmas Murder Game (alleen in het Engels te verkrijgen) gekocht. In totaal is dit boek in 43 hoofdstukken verdeeld, met clues verspreid over elke dag. Ik ga de ene dag 1 en de andere dag 2 hoofdstukken proberen te lezen zodat ik met kerst weet wie het gedaan heeft.

I also bought the book The Christmas Murder Game (only available in English). In total, this book is divided into 43 chapters, with clues spread throughout each day. I'm going to try to read 1 chapter one day and 2 the next so that I know who did it at Christmas.

En mocht ik dan nog meer willen lezen, dan kan ik altijd een van deze 2 boeken pakken die ik vorige maand kocht. Er staan hele mooie korte verhalen in. Helaas ook alleen in het Engels te verkrijgen.

And if I want to read more, I can always pick up one of these 2 books that I bought last month. It contains very nice short stories. Unfortunately only available in English.

Uiteraard ga ik ook weer de nodige vlogs volgen op youtube want er zijn er weer heel veel die vlogmas doen. Ze maken dan elke dag een kort filmpje over hun bezigheden. Het worden er elk jaar meer.
De  granny square sjaal vordert goed, ik hoop hem vandaag of morgen af te krijgen.

My advent calendars for this year

Hier een overzicht van de adventskalenders die ik dit jaar hebt.
Dit jaar zijn het er een paar meer dan vorig jaar, maar dat komt omdat er 1 was die vorig jaar geen adventskalender deed en van 2 heb ik ontdekt dat die ook een kalender maakte dit jaar.
Tja, dan heb je er al snel 6 voor elke dag en daar komen ook de 2 kalenders van de swap nog bij. Ik heb geen quiltstof kalenders dit jaar.
De eerste is van The Woolly Chicken, deze had ik vorig jaar ook en die was schitterend. Het thema dit jaar is A Country Walk, het zijn weer 24 x 20 grams strengetjes.

Here is an overview of the advent calendars I have this year.
This year there are a few more than last year, but that's because there was 1 who didn't make an Advent calendar last year and I discovered 2 dyers that also made a calendar this year.
Well, then you quickly have 6 for each day and then I still have the 2 calendars from the swap. I didn't bought any quiltfabric calendars this year.
The first is from The Woolly Chicken, I had this one last year and it was beautiful. The theme this year is A Country Walk, again 24 x 20 gram skeins.

Als nummer 2 is daar de kalender van Het Wolbeest, vorig jaar had ik er geen van, maar nu had ze er een met een thema waar ik gek op ben. De kalender is geïnspireerd op Pippi. Het zijn 24 x 20 grams strengetjes en ik heb er ook de projecttas bij besteld.

Number 2 is the Het Wolbeest calendar, last year I didn't have one of those, but now they had one with a theme that I love. The calendar is inspired by Pippi. They are 24 x 20 gram skeins and I also ordered the project bag with them.

Nummer 3 is de kalender van Crealien Designs, vorig jaar had ze er geen gemaakt omdat ze er geen tijd voor had, maar dit jaar lukte het haar wel. Het zijn 24 x 20 grams strengetjes op haar gold sparkle base, met een glittertje dus, geverfd in een gradient/fade. Ook zit er een 100 grams streng bij. Die streng kon je ook nog een keer los erbij kopen, wat ik gedaan heb.

Number 3 is the Crealien Designs calendar, last year she didn't make one because she didn't have time, but this year she managed to. They are 24 x 20 gram skeins on her gold sparkle base, painted in a gradient/fade. There is also a 100 gram skein included. You could also buy that skein separately, which I did.

Kalender nummer 4 had ik vorig jaar ook. Hij is geverfd door Wat Wollie en Bad Cattoo Yarns, elk van hen heeft voor 12 strengetjes gezorgd. Dat maakt 24 strengetjes van 20 gram.

Calendar 4 I also had this last year. It is dyed by Wat Wollie and Bad Cattoo Yarns, each of whom provided 12 skeins. That makes 24 skeins of 20 grams.

Door met de 5e, deze is nieuw voor mij. Het bleek dat Therese Notenboom ook een adventskalender maakte dit jaar. Het zijn 24 x 10 grams strengetjes met een 100 grams erbij.

De laatste van de gekochte kalenders is die van Piratenwolle. Ik kwam er vrij laat achter dat ze ook een kalender deed met mini bolletjes, dus die heb ik toen nog snel besteld. Het zijn 24 x 10 grams bolletjes met een 100 grams streng erbij.

The last of the calendars that I purchased is the one from Piratenwolle. I found out quite late that she also made a calendar with mini balls, so I quickly ordered that. They are 24 x 10 gram balls with a 100 gram skein.

Dan zijn er nog 2 kalenders van een swap (je maakt er een voor iemand en je krijgt er dan een terug). De eerste is van de Dutch Advent Swap. Je moest zorgen voor 20 strengetjes van 10 gram sokkenwol en 4 cadeautjes erbij doen.  Ik maakt er een voor Aafke van Dijken en ik kreeg er van Evelien Ras-neve een terug.

Then there are the 2 calendars of a swap (you make one for someone and you get one back). The first is from the Dutch Advent Swap. You had to provide 20 skeins of 10 grams of sock wool and add 4 presents. I made one for Aafke van Dijken and Evelien Ras-neve gave me one in return. 

Dan is er de swap die ik al een paar jaar doe met een vriendin die wat verder weg woont, de vriendinnen swap. En laten we nu, zonder dat we het wisten, hetzelfde thema gekozen hebben, ... Pippi Langkous. Hoe geweldig is dat ! Het is ook zo'n lieverd.

Then there is the swap that I have been doing for a few years with a friend who lives a little further away, the girlfriend swap. And now, without knowing it, let's have chosen the same theme, ... Pippi Longstocking. How wonderful is that! She's such a sweetheart too.

Verder heb ik dan nog de My Muesli havermout adventskalender (voor de eerste keer), verschillende theeën en de DM kalender. Ook heb ik weer de Frog Coffee thee adventskalender voor 2 personen. Deze is zo leuk omdat er theesoorten van veel verschillende merken inzitten en voor elke dag zitten er 2 zakjes in. Ik drink deze 's avonds samen met Michiel als we onze puzzel oplossen van de Sherlock Holmes adventskalender.

I also have the My Muesli oatmeal advent calendar (for the first time), various teas and the DM surprise calendar. I also have the Frog Coffee tea advent calendar for 2 people again. This one is so nice because it contains teas from many different brands and there are 2 bags for every day. I drink this with Michiel in the evening when we solve our puzzle of the Sherlock Holmes advent calendar.

Ook zijn er nog 4 adventskalenders voor alleen de advent zondagen. Deze worden geopend op 3, 10, 17 en 24 december. De laatste advent zondag valt dit jaar op kerstavond.
De eerste is van Atelier Sopra, 6 strengen van 100 gram met een 20 grams mini erbij. Thema is Early Summer, wat lichtere pastel kleuren met af en toe een uitschieter.

There are also 4 Advent calendars for Advent Sundays only. These will be opened on December 3, 10, 17 and 24. The last Advent Sunday falls on Christmas Eve this year.
The first is from Atelier Sopra, 6 skeins of 100 grams with a 20 gram mini. The theme is Early Summer, some lighter pastel colors with an occasional highlight.

 De volgende is van Wol met Verve, 5 strengen van 100 gram en een projecttas. Thema is Boho Soft.

 Nummer 3 is die van Nicole C. Mendez met 4 zelfstrepende strengen. Ze schreef: Dit jaar zal elke streng meer verschillende strepen hebben dan in voorgaande jaren.

De laatste is van The Happy Kiwi stitchmarkers, deze had ik vorig jaar ook. Het thema van dit jaar is Elf (film/ noordpool thema). Vier steekmarkeerders en een bonus item.

The last one is from The Happy Kiwi stitch markers, I also had these last year. This year's theme is Elf (movie/North Pole theme). Four stitch markers and a bonus item.

En dan is er nog de Pippi Langkous adventskalender die ik zelf 2x heb gemaakt voor de vriendinnen swap. Voor de vriendin die ver weg woont  en voor mezelf zodat we samen kunnen Pippi Langkousen. Ik had er een brief bijgedaan waarop stond dat ze het eerste pakje op 20 november mocht openen. Daarin zat een Pippi projecttasje dat ik had gemaakt in de kleuren geel, oranje en groen (Pippi's kleuren), met erbij 3 bollen sokkenwol van 25 gram, van Wol met Verve ook in de Pippi kleuren.

And then there is the Pippi Longstocking advent calendar that I made twice for the girlfriend swap. For the friend who lives far away and for myself so that we can do Pippi Longstockings together. I included a letter stating that she could open the first package on November 20th. It contained a Pippi project bag that I had made in the colors yellow, orange and green (Pippi's colors), with 3 balls of sock wool of 25 grams, from Wol met Verve also in Pippi's colors.

Dat is een hele waslijst, maar wat hadden jullie verwacht, ... ik en adventskalenders 😄😄😄 Och, de een gaat 1 of 2x per jaar op vakantie, ik blijf liever thuis en koop een kalender. Ieder zijn ding toch?
