Pumpkin Spice socks

 Het breien gaat steeds beter en dat is wel te zien want mijn Pumpkin Spice sokken zijn klaar.

Knitting is getting better and better and it shows because my Pumpkin Spice socks are ready.

Het garen is van Little Bishes Stitches in de kleur Pumpkin Spice. Ik heb geen patroon gebruikt maar gewoon hier en daar wat ribbels gebreid.

The yarn is from Little Bishes Stitches in the color Pumpkin Spice. I didn't use a pattern but just knitted some purl rows here and there.

Vorige week 10 oktober kon ik ook het eerste pakje open maken van de Halloween box van Nicole C. Mendez. De kleur heet Cauldron.

Last week, October 10, I could open the first package of Nicole C. Mendez's Halloween box. The color is called Cauldron.

Gisteren 17 oktober was pakje 2 aan de beurt. Deze kleur heet Halloween Costumes.

Yesterday 17 October it was package number 2 that I could open. This color is called Halloween Costumes.

Begin oktober kwam ook mijn Peter Rabbit advent kalender binnen. Een internet vriendin maakte me erop attent. Ik had hem wel al vaker in Engelse winkels voorbij zien komen maar met de invoerrechten werd die erg duur.
Nu had de winkel Sugar and Spice in Den Haag hem ook te koop dus ik had hem meteen besteld.

At the beginning of October, my Peter Rabbit advent calendar also arrived. An internet friend pointed it out to me. I had seen it in English shops before, but with the import duties it became very expensive.
Now the store Sugar and Spice in The Hague (Netherlands) also had it for sale, so I ordered it immediately.

Ook de 2 persoonse thee kalender is een paar dagen terug aangekomen, deze keer van Frog.coffee. In deze kalender zit thee van verschillende merken, voor elke dag 2 zakjes zodat Michiel en ik 's avonds samen van deze thee kunnen genieten.

The 2 person tea calendar also arrived a few days ago, this time from Frog.coffee. This calendar contains tea from different brands, 2 bags for each day so that Michiel and I can enjoy this tea together in the evening.

Twee weken terug kwamen ook deze 3 strengen nog binnen van Little Bishes Stitches. De kleuren van links naar rechts zijn Woodland, By the fire en Bloodmoon.

Socktober / Sockoween

 Inmiddels zijn er weer 2 weken om. Het gaat weer ietsjes beter, hoewel er ook dagen waren waarop ik teveel deed en dat liet mijn lichaam meteen weten. Maar ik kan nu een klein rondje lopen van een 60 tot 80 meter aan de arm van Michiel, dus dat gaat ook vooruit. Verder ben ik ook weer steeds een paar naalden aan het breien.
Deze maand is het socktober/sockoween, wat betekent sokken breien in oktober. Ik koos deze mooie streng uit van Little Bishes Stitches met de naam Pumpkin Spice.

Now 2 weeks have passed. I'm doing a little better again, although there were also days when I did too much and my body let it know right away. But I can now walk a little of 60 to 80 meters on Michiel's arm, so that is also improving. I am also back to knitting again, a few needles each time.

Ik heb dit jaar ook de Halloween box van Nicole Mendez. Ik mag op 10, 17, 24 en 31 oktober een zakje open maken waar dan een zelfstrepende streng in zit, in een halloween kleur.

Gisteren zijn we even naar Duitsland gereden. Gelukkig kan ik goed zitten in de auto en in de winkels liep ik met de rollator. Bij de Rewe weer thee gekocht en bij de DM waren de advent kalenders weer op voorraad.
Ik kocht weer de Bio kalender want die is me vorig jaar goed bevallen.

Yesterday we drove to Germany. Fortunately I can sit well in the car and in the shops I walked with the walker. Bought tea at the Rewe again and the advent calendars were back in stock at the DM.
I bought the Bio calendar again because I liked it last year.

Uiteraard kreeg Mees ook weer de honden kalender.

Of course Mees also got the dog calendar again.

Daarnaast kwamen ook deze 3 boeken binnen van De-Ann Black. Ze zijn helaas alleen in het Engels verkrijgbaar.

En gisteren kwam ook de 3e zending van mijn Opal abonnement van 2022 (4x per jaar 6 bollen) binnen en wat zijn de kleuren weer mooi. De 3 van de onderste rij zijn mijn favoriet.

And yesterday the 3rd shipment of my Opal subscription from 2022 (4x a year 6 balls) arrived and the colors are beautiful again. The 3 in the bottom row are my favorite.

 

A mystery and a disaster

Laten we maar als eerste met een mysterie beginnen. Woensdag zat er bij de post een envelop en toen ik die opende zat er dit boek in. Het kleine huis in het grote bos van Laura Ingalls Wilder, het eerste deel van deze serie. Wie had me dit gestuurd? Het is via een winkel op bol.com schijnbaar besteld en die hebben het naar mij gestuurd, maar er zat geen briefje bij wie dit nu voor mij gekocht heeft.
Uiteraard ben ik hier echt super blij mee en ik ga ook proberen om de hele serie bij elkaar te krijgen. Maar ik zou zo graag diegene willen bedanken die dit voor mij gedaan heeft, maar omdat ik dit niet weet zeg ik het maar hier: Super bedankt voor dit mooie boek, ik ben er echt blij mee.

Let's start with a mystery first. On Wednesday there was an envelope in the post and when I opened it, it contained this book. The Little House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder, the first part of this series. Who sent me this? It was apparently ordered through a shop on bol.com and they sent it to me, but there was no note with who bought this for me.
Of course I'm really happy with this and I'm also going to try to get the whole series together. But I would really like to thank whoever did this for me, but because I don't know this I'll just say it here: Thank you so much for this beautiful book, I'm really happy with it.

Het ene moment (woensdagmiddag) heb je tranen in je ogen van geluk doordat je zo'n mooi boek cadeau hebt gekregen, het andere moment (woensdagavond) tranen in je ogen vanwege deze ramp. Deze deken gehaakt met de mooie mini bolletjes van Opal hing op de armleuning van mijn stoel en op een gegeven moment hoorde ik iets en keek omlaag. Mees lag erop en was bezig met de deken te vernielen. Het huilen stond me nader dan het lachen kan ik je vertellen, ... zucht. Ik heb de deken maar boven bij mijn garen neergelegd, geen idee of ik hem nog gemaakt krijg.

One moment you have tears in your eyes of happiness because you received such a beautiful book, the next moment tears in your eyes because of this disaster. This blanket crocheted with the beautiful mini skeins of Opal hung on the armrest of my chair and at one point I heard something and looked down. Mees lay on it and was busy destroying the blanket. The crying was closer to me than the laughter I can tell you, ... sigh. For now I put the blanket upstairs with my yarn, I have no idea if I can fix it.

En hier is de bandiet, sinds gisteravond gedeeltelijk uitgeschakeld door tabletten tegen de vuurwerkknallen, want hij wordt er helemaal hyper van en blijft aan het blaffen. Hij kreeg donderdagmorgen zijn jaarlijkse inenting en toen hebben we meteen medicatie gevraagd om hem rustig te houden tijdens oud en nieuw.

 

And here's the bandit, partly knocked out by tablets against the firecrackers since last night, because it makes him all hyper and he keeps barking. He received his annual vaccination on Thursday morning and we immediately asked for medication to keep him calm during New Years.

 

De kerstdagen waren heerlijk verlopen en ik had voor de kleinkinderen naast een boek en iets van speelgoed, deze houten hangers laten maken. Ik probeer elk jaar iets leuks voor ze te vinden dat ze in de boom kunnen hangen, zo krijgen ze een mooie collectie bij elkaar.

The Christmas holidays went wonderfully and I had these wooden hangers made for the grandchildren in addition to a book and a toy. Every year I try to find something nice for them that they can hang in the tree, so they get a nice collection together.

Mijn Christmas cast-on (kerstavond opzet project) was deze sok met de grote streng van Crealien die ik bij de advent kalender had meebesteld. Ik ben voorbij de hak, dus hij schiet lekker op. Als contrastkleur heb ik een lila kleur van Opal gebruikt.

My Christmas cast-on was this sock with the large skein from Crealien that I ordered with the advent calendar. I'm past the heel, so he's getting along nicely. As a contrast color I used a lilac color from Opal.

Deze streng van Little Bishes Stitches die ik een tijd terug besteld had, heb ik ook klaar liggen om mee te beginnen. Het is de kerst kleur Run, run Rudolph. Hier wil ik de Skyppy Stripes sokken mee breien, een gratis patroon op Ravelry (klik). Als contrastkleur gebruik ik de groene kleur, Dark mint 2133, van Durable Soqs.

I also have this skein of Little Bishes Stitches that I ordered a while back to start with. It's the Christmas color Run, run Rudolph. I want to knit the Skyppy Stripes socks with this, a free pattern on Ravelry (click). As a contrast color I use the green color, Dark mint 2133, from Durable Soqs.

Jullie denken vast na het zien van al die garens uit de advent kalenders, dat ik geen garen meer besteld heb? Mis ! Vorige week kwamen net voor kerst mijn 3 strengen binnen van Crealien. Ik had al een paar keer misgepakt op de zelfstrepende streng met de naam Christmas Cookies, hier links op de foto. Telkens was deze kleur met een paar minuten uitverkocht. Bij haar laatste update had ik eindelijk gelukt en gelukkig maar, want ook deze keer waren ze in een paar minuten weer uitverkocht. Erbij kocht ik Frozen Lake en Joy, beide ook kerstkleuren.

After seeing all those yarns from the advent calendars, you must think that I haven't ordered any more yarn? Wrong ! Last week just before Christmas my 3 skeins arrived from Crealien Designs. I got my eyes on the selfstriping skein Christmas Cookies, every time with her shop updates I was too late and it was sold out again. On the photo on the left. This color was always sold out in a few minutes. With her last update I finally succeeded and luckily, because this time they were sold out again in a few minutes. I also bought Frozen Lake and Joy, both also Christmas colors.

En gisteren kwam er nog een pakket uit Duitsland van Little Bishes Stitches. Zij had een mooie aanbieding met flinke korting ruim 2 weken geleden en dus heb ik nog wat kleuren besteld die ik niet had en die ik mooi vind. En ja die gele rechtsboven is echt een Neon gele kleur. Hoe ouder, hoe gekker is het toch?

And yesterday another package came from Germany from Little Bishes Stitches. She had a nice offer with a big discount over 2 weeks ago and so I ordered some colors that I didn't have and that I like. And yes, that yellow one at the top right is really a Neon yellow color. The older, the crazier it is, right?

De Harry potter streng van december is ook binnen gekomen maar die moet ik nog even tot een bol opdraaien. Dan wil ik jullie allemaal een fijn oudjaar wensen en voor het nieuwe jaar de beste wensen en een goede gezondheid, want dat is toch wel het belangrijkste, nietwaar?
Over 2 dagen post ik uiteraard weer alle projecten die afgekomen zijn in 2021 en ook mijn boekenlijst met de gelezen boeken van dit jaar.

In 2 days I will of course post all projects that have been completed in 2021 and also my book list with the books read this year.

Vandaag op 1e kerstdag wordt deze knappe jongen 1 jaar. Hij zit nog steeds vol kattenkwaad en sloopt alles wat hij tegen komt. Mees gefeliciteerd !

This handsome boy turns 1 today on Christmas Day. He is still full of mischief and destroys everything he comes across. Congratulations Mees!

Vandaag mocht ik ook nog een paar pakjes open maken. Als eerste  nog een strengetje van Crealien Design.

Dan had ik nog een volle 100 grams streng van Little Bishes Stitches voor kerstdag die Merry and Bright heet. Ze had er ook een mini streng bij gedaan.

Vanmiddag gaan we naar mijn dochter en haar partner en onze kleindochters Lana en Loïs en we gaan daar een heerlijke Engelse Sunday Roast eten.
Morgen gaan we eten bij mijn zoon, schoondochter en kleindochter Yara.
Het is voor het eerst dat wij beide kerstdagen ergens anders gaan eten. Op zich vind ik dit wel heerlijk omdat ik zelf nog steeds niet goed uit de voeten kan, hoewel de covid revaladatie steeds beter gaat als ook de oedeem therapie. Het probleem zit hem nog steeds in de zenuwen van mijn benen die verkeerde info naar de hersenen doorgeven en ik daardoor vaak mijn evenwicht niet kan houden. Maar ook dit komt wel goed !

Wij wensen iedereen hele fijne feestdagen.

This afternoon we are going to visit my daughter and her partner and our granddaughters Lana and Loïs and eat a delicious English Sunday Roast with them.
Tomorrow we will have dinner at my son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter Yara house.
It is the first time that we eat somewhere else on both Christmas days. In itself I think this is wonderful because I still have trouble with walking, although the covid rehab is getting better and better as well as the edema therapy. The problem is still in the nerves of my legs that transmit wrong information to the brain and because of that I often can't keep my balance. But this too will be fine someday!

Fourth Advent Sunday

 Vandaag is het de vierde en tevens laatste advent zondag van dit jaar. Twee 100 grams strengen mogen weer uitgepakt worden.

Today is the fourth and last Advent Sunday of this year. Two 100 gram skeins may be unpacked again.

De eerste is weer van Nicole C Mendez, het is een zelfstrepende kerstkleur.  Vandaag is het de kleur Silent Night.

The first is again from Nicole C Mendez, it's a self-striping Christmas color. Today it is the color Silent Night.

De tweede is van Little Bishes Stitches. Dit is de kleur Mistel Toe.

The second is from Little Bishes Stitches. This is the color Mistel Toe.

Beide strengen zijn weer zo mooi. Van Nicole was dit de laatste streng, maar van little Bishes mag ik op 1e kerstdag nog een streng open maken. Elke zondag een grote streng open maken vind ik net zo leuk als elke dag kleine strengetjes. Wie weet ga ik volgend jaar hier weer voor.

Both strands are so beautiful again. From Nicole this was the last skein, but from little Bishes I can open another skein on Christmas Day. Opening a large skein every Sunday is just as much fun as opening small skeins every day. Who knows, I might go for this again next year.

Third Advent Sunday

Op deze 3e advent zondag worden er 3 kaarsen aangestoken. Ook mogen er weer 2 extra pakjes open gemaakt worden, dus ook 2 berichtjes vandaag.

On this 3rd Advent Sunday, 3 candles are lit. 2 extra packages can also be opened, that means also 2 messages today.

De eerste is weer van Nicole C Mendez, het is een zelfstrepende kerstkleur.  Vandaag is het de kleur Candy Cane.

De tweede is van Little Bishes Stitches. Dit is de kleur Cruela de Vil. Wat zal deze leuk zijn met een rode mini streng, ik zie het al voor me.

Beide zijn 100 grams strengen en wat gaan dit weer super sokken worden. Als ze me vandaag zouden vragen wat het leukste om te breien is dan zeg ik volmondig sokken met op de 2e plaats sjaals. Dit had ik enkele jaren geleden nooit gedacht.

Both are 100 gram skeins and these are going to be nice socks again. When they ask me today what the best thing to knit is, I say wholeheartedly socks with shawls in second place. I would never have thought this a few years ago.

Second Advent Sunday

Vandaag is het de 2e advent zondag, vandaar een 2e blogbericht. Deze zondag worden er namelijk 2 extra pakjes open gemaakt.

De eerste is weer van Nicole C Mendez, het is een zelfstrepende kerstkleur.  Vandaag is het de kleur Christmas Cookies (kerstkoekjes).

De tweede is van Little Bishes Stitches. Dit is de kleur Fake Plastic Christmas Tree (Nep Plastic Kerstboom).

Beide 100 grams strengen vind ik weer super mooi, altijd spannend als je niet weet welke kleur je gaat krijgen. Gelukkig zijn er niet veel garens die ik niet mooi vind.

I think both 100 grams skeins are beautiful, always exciting if you don't know what color you're going to get. Luckily there aren't many yarns I don't like.

First Advent Sunday

Mijn tweede advent zondagkalender kwam gisteren binnen, net op tijd. Op elke advent zondag ga ik dan 2 pakjes open maken waar een volle 100 grams streng in zit.

My second advent sunday calendar also arrived yesterday, just in time. So on every Advent Sunday I will open 2 packs containing a full 100 gram skein.

De eerste is van Nicole C Mendez, van haar heb ik ook elke maand het Harry Potter zelfstrepend garen. De komende 4 zondagen nu dus ook een zelfstrepende kerstkleur. Ik heb de streng nog niet opgedraaid, dat komt wel als ik ermee ga breien. Vandaag is het de kleur Christmas tree (kerstboom).

Van haar kreeg ik net na mijn verjaardag ook nog 3 strengen binnen (nog voor mijn verjaardag). Dit waren de kleuren Pumpkin Spice, Gingerbread House and Run Run Rudolf.

Just after my birthday I also received 3 skeins from her (gift for my birthday). These were the colors Pumpkin Spice, Gingerbread House and Run Run Rudolf.

Wat betreft mijn Covid update. De huisarts heeft voorgesteld dat ik covid revalidatie met oedeemtherapie ga volgen. Hij vindt dit beter dan gewoon medicatie te geven.

As for my Covid update. The GP has suggested that I follow covid rehabilitation with edema therapy. He thinks this is better than just giving medication.

Aangezien ik nog steeds slecht loopt, komt mijn eigen fysiotherapeut Petra, waar ik elke week long fysio van krijg en die nu ook de covid revalidatie doet, voorlopig aan huis. Dinsdagmiddag is de eerste keer.

Since I'm still walking badly, my own physiotherapist Petra, from whom I get lung physio every week and who now also does the covid rehabilitation, comes to my home for the time being. Tuesday afternoon is the first time.

Daarnaast komt Natalie, die de oedeem therapie gaat geven ook voorlopig aan huis en zij komt donderdagmiddag. Ik hoop dat dit snel resultaat gaat geven en ik weer normaal kan lopen en fietsen.

In addition, Natalie, who will give the edema therapy, will also come to my home for the time being and she will come Thursday afternoon. I hope this will give results soon and I can walk and cycle normally again.

Mijn laatste bestelde boeken waren ook binnen gekomen, zoals De zilverboom van Lucinda Riley.

En deze tweedehands boeken die ik al enige tijd zocht, De Graces 1 en De Graces 2 van Laure Eve. Ook had ik de serie van Dr. Quinn (naar de gelijknamige serie) binnen maar helemaal vergeten een foto te nemen. Ze staan inmiddels in de boekenkast boven.

And these second-hand books I've been looking for for some time, The Graces 1 and The Graces 2 by Laure Eve. I also had the series of Dr. Quinn (after the series of the same name) but completely forgot to take a picture. They are now in the bookcase upstairs.
