Brumelda is happy

(Vorige week dinsdag, 13 mei)

"Brumelda wat doe jij op het dak?".

"Ik kijk of Wil er al aankomt, want ze heeft beloofd om samen met mij blokjes te gaan maken voor mijn quilt".

 "Brumelda what are you doing on the roof?".

"I'm checking if I see Wil coming, because she promised to make some blocks for my quilt".

"Ohhh, je bedoelt de Sylvia Bridal Sampler oftewel 

de Smiling Brumelda Silvermoon quilt".

"Ja die bedoel ik Carin, dat is mijn quilt, want hij draagt mijn naam".

Je begrijpt al dat toen Wil hier aankwam vorige week dinsdag ze geen moment rust kreeg, want Brumelda bleef maar stukjes stof aangeven zodat Wil blokjes kon maken. Brumelda wilde graag een heel gezond blokje in haar quilt en daarom koos ze voor een stofje met een appel erop.

"Ohhh, you mean the Sylvia Bridal Sampler aka

the Smiling Brumelda Silvermoon quilt".

"Thats right Carin, that is my quilt because it has my name".

You can imagine that Wil had no rest last week while she was visiting us, because Brumelda constantly was given her fabrics, so Wil could make quiltblocks. Brumelda wanted also a very healthy block in her quilt, so she choose a fabric with an apple. 

Daarna waren die twee niet meer te houden. Brumelda bleef stofjes aanslepen en Wil maakte blokje voor blokje. In totaal 5 stuks.

You couldn't stop those two. Brumelda searched for lovely fabrics and Wil made one block after another. She made 5 in total.

Brumelda was helemaal in haar nopjes met haar nieuwe blokken. Eindelijk werd er weer eens aan haar quilt gewerkt.

"Carin wil jij nog een foto maken van Wil samen met mij?".

"Natuurlijk doe ik dat Brumelda, ga maar zitten en laat maar eens zien wat jullie samen hebben gemaakt".

Brumelda was so happy with her new blocks. 

Finally someone was working on her quilt.

"Carin can you make a picture of Wil and me together".

"Ofcourse I can Brumelda, go sit by Wil and show us what you two have been making". 

Verder maakte Wil ook nog 2 blokken voor de Star and Plume quilt. Blok 1 Storm at Sea en blok 32 Maiden's Delight.

Wil made also 2 blocks for the Star and Plume quilt. Block 1 Storm at sea and block 32 Maiden's Delight.

Our trip

Afgelopen vrijdag toen we naar het zuiden reden, heb ik onderweg ook foto's gemaakt. De eerste maakte ik toen we stopte bij De Theetuin om een kop thee koffie verkeerd te drinken. Het uitzicht dat we in de tuin hadden was geweldig !

Last friday when we drove to the south of our province, I made some pictures on the way. The first one I made, when we stopped at a tea garden to drink some tea coffee. The view from the garden was stunning !

De Geul zomaar in je achtertuin, wie droomt daar niet van.

De koekoeksbloem bloeide volop bij de theetuin.

The lychnis was blooming in the tea garden.

En aan de voorkant had je dit uitzicht.

And on the front you had this view.

We brachten ook weer een bezoek aan de Volmolen in Epen.

We also visit the mill in Epen.

Hoe vaak je daar ook komt, het blijft er schitterend.

It doesn't matter how often we come there, it is wonderful as ever.

Achter de Volmolen kun je ook een mooie wandeling maken, wat wij uiteraard deden. De ereprijs stond volop in bloei.

Behind the mill we made a walk. The veronica was blooming.

En ook velden vol met boterbloemen en zuring kwamen we tegen.

And also fields full of buttercups and rumex we saw.

Eenmaal bovenop de heuvel aangekomen (ik voel mijn bovenbenen nog), had je een prachtig uitzicht.

Once we where on the top of the hill (I still feel my legs), we had a beautiful view.

We hebben genoten van ons dagje uit.

We enjoyed our trip to the south of our province.

Brumelda loves herbs

"Zeg Carin, jij bent zeker bang dat je zonder leesvoer komt te zitten, als ik zo zie welke boeken er gisteren weer binnen zijn gekomen".

"Klopt helemaal Brumelda. Ik miste de laatste 3 boeken uit de China Bayles Kruiden mysteries van Susan Wittig Albert nog en nu is mijn serie weer kompleet".

"Say Carin, you're definitely afraid that you have nothing to read, isn't? Because I see that there where many books delivered yesterday".

"Thats true Brumelda. I still missed the last 3 books from the China Bayles Herbal mysteries by Susan Wittig Albert and now my series is complete again".

"Mysteries en kruiden/bloemen is wel een mooie combinatie voor een goed verhaal, want er zijn heel veel kruiden en bloemen die giftig zijn, maar dat wist jij vast wel Carin. Ik hoop niet dat de bloemen die op dit lapje staan giftig zijn, want om nu een giftig blokje in mijn quilt te krijgen, dat zie ik niet zitten".

"Wees maar gerust Brumelda, dit lapje kan echt geen kwaad".

"Mysteries and herbs/flowers is a nice combination for a good story, because there are a lot of herbs and flowers that are poisonous, but that you know  probably Carin. I hope the flowers on this fabric aren't toxic, because I don't like  to get a poisonous block in my quilt".

"Don't worry Brumelda, this piece of fabric can't do any harm".

"Maar ik zie dat je nog meer boeken had besteld Carin".

"Ja dat zijn de eerste 2 boeken van een nieuwe serie van dezelfde schrijfster. Deze serie heet The Darling Dahlias en gaat over een groepje mensen die lid zijn van een tuinclub en die ook weer allerlei mysteries oplossen. Kijk eens hier Brumelda, hoe vindt je je nieuwe blokje geworden?".

"Ik ben blij dat het stofje niet giftig is, want ik vind het superleuk geworden Carin".

"But I see you orderd more books Carin".

"Yes those are the first 2 books of a new series by the same author. This series is called The Darling Dhalias and its about a group of people who are a member of a garden club and who also solve mysteries. Look here Brumelda, how do you find your new block?".

"I'm glad the fabric is non-toxic, because I realy like this one Carin".

"Wij hebben ook verschillende kruidensoorten in onze tuin staan, nietwaar Carin?".

"Je hebt weer gelijk Brumelda en heb je ook de laatste nieuwe gezien. Dat is een munt plantje, want de vorige had niet veel blaadjes meer".

"Nee, die had ik nog niet gezien ... even kijken". Brumelda rent op haar laarsjes de tuin in en springt zomaar in de munt. "Ohhhh wat ruikt die lekker Carin".

"We also have different kinds of herbs in our garden, right Carin?".

"Again you are right Brumelda and have you seen the latest I put in there? That's a mint plant, because the previous one did not have many leaves anymore".

"No, I haven't seen that one ... I will check it out now".  Brumelda runs on her boots in the garden and jumps right in the mint. "Ohhh this smells delicious Carin".

"Ik zal met de munt even een heerlijk kopje thee voor je maken Carin, want ik weet dat jij dat lekker vind. Ondertussen kun jij doorwerken aan je andere blokje".

"Dat vind ik lief van je Brumelda, zo'n kopje munt thee gaat er altijd in".

"I will make you a nice cup of tea with the mint Carin, because I know you like that. In the meanwhile you can sew the other block together".

"That is so sweet of you Brumelda, a cup of mint tea I can always drink".

"Kijk, ... hier is je kopje thee en je vind het vast niet erg als ik ook af en toe een slokje neem, nietwaar Carin?".

"Nee hoor, ik deel mijn thee graag met je en als het op is, dan maken gewoon weer nieuwe thee".

Brumelda kijkt me aan met haar kleine oogjes en zegt: "Ik vind jou lief Carin".

"Ik jou ook Brumelda en daarom heb ik nog een blokje voor jouw quilt gemaakt, dit keer met kleine roosjes erin".

"Geweldig Carin en ik heb eventjes alle blokken geteld die al gemaakt zijn en dit is blokje 78. Nog maar 62 te maken en dan is mijn quilt (Smiling Brumelda Silvermoon aka Sylvia bridal Sampler) klaar".

"Look, ... here is your cup of tea and you won't mind if I take a sip so now and then, right Carin?".

"Of course not, I like to share my tea with you and when its empty, we just make another cup of tea".

Brumelda looks at me with her little eyes and says: "I find you sweet Carin".

"You are sweet to Brumelda and thats why I made another block for your quilt, this time with little roses".

"Great Carin and I have counted all the blocks that are made and this one is block 78. Only 62 to go and my quilt (Smiling Brumelda Silvermoon aka Sylvia Bridal Sampler) is finished".

"Uhh Carin, ik dacht dat jij voorlopig niet aan wat nieuws wilde beginnen, maar ik heb heus wel gezien dat je je enkele dagen geleden aangemeld hebt op Esther's yahoogroep voor haar nieuwe BOM".

"Ja sorry Brumelda, deze kon ik ECHT niet overslaan, want je weet hoe graag ik applicatie quilts maak en deze wordt een echte uitdaging".

"Daarom verbaasde me dat ook niet Carin en voor wie wil weten over welke quilt dit gaat, die moet even op Esther blog (klik) kijken ... en als iemand dan net zo gek als Carin is, die kan zich dan aanmelden op haar yahoo groep (klik). Ik wens jullie veel succes met die quilt en heel veel sterkte, want dat zullen jullie zeker nodig hebben ... hihihi ".

"Uhhh Carin, I thought you didn't want to start anything new at this moment, but I saw that you signed up to Esther's yahoo group a couple of days ago for her new BOM".

Yeah sorry Brumelda, this one I REALY could not skip, because you know how much I love making applique quilts and this one is a real challenge".

"Thats why I wasn't surprised at all Carin and for who wants to know of which quilt we are talking, just look at Esther's blog (click) ... and if someone is just as crazy as Carin, you can join her yahoo group (click). I wish you good luck with making this quilt and a lot of strenght, because you definitely need it ... hihihi".

Happy Birthday Lindy

"Wat hebben we het druk gehad de afgelopen dagen, nietwaar Carin?".

"Dat klopt Brumelda. Op donderdag kwamen Trees en Ans op bezoek, op vrijdag kwam Elly die super nieuwsgierig was naar het nieuwe boek van Di Ford en op zaterdag gingen we naar de Quiltsteek in Best om mijn wedstrijdquiltje op te halen dat de 1e prijs gewonnen had".

"Niet alleen dat quiltje ophalen hoor, want ik zag het wel toen je thuis kwam. Of waren die nieuwe stofjes allemaal aan je hand blijven plakken?".

"Brumelda je weet toch dat, als je een quiltwinkel binnen gaat, je altijd weer iets ziet dat je nog niet hebt. Bovendien moest ik nog wat rose en paarse stofjes hebben voor de Amish Circle Quilt en die andere stofjes ? ... die komen vast nog eens van pas".

"We had some busy days, didn't we Carin?".

"Thats correct Brumelda. On thursday came Trees and Ans to visit, on friday came Elly who was curious about the new book of Di Ford and on saterday we went to the Quiltsteek in Best to pick up my little quilt that I had entered in the contest and which won the first prize".

"Not only to pick up your quilt Carin, because I saw you when you got home and there where new fabrics".

"Well Brumelda, you do know that, when you enter a quiltshop, you always see fabric you don't have. Besides, I needed some pink and purple fabrics for the Amish Circle Quilt and those other fabrics? ... those will come in handy some day".

 "En op dinsdag hebben we bijna de hele dag tv gekeken, er was zoveel oranje te zien".

"Dat klopt Brumelda, want op die dag trad onze koningin Beatrix af en kregen we er een koning voor in de plaats. Wat hebben we die dag genoten nietwaar?".

"And then on tuesday we almost watch all day tv, because there was so much orange to see".

"Thats right Brumelda, because our Queen Beatrix stepped down and now we have a king in the Netherlands. There was so much to see and we enjoy it, didn't we?".

De koninklijke familie / The royal family

"Ja ik vond het een super dag Carin, want we hadden zelfs oranje tompoezen. Dat die zo snel op waren zullen we maar niet vertellen hihihi ... en zelfs Bowy vierde mee met zijn nieuwe oranje tennisbal".

"Yes it was a beautiful day Carin, because we even had some orange tompouce to eat (thats a common pastry in the Netherlands). We don't tell that we eat them in no time hihihi ... and even Bowy celebrate with us with his new orange tennis ball".

"En vandaag hebben we zelfs dubbel feest, want Michiel en jij zijn vandaag toch 8 jaar getrouwd Carin?".

"Dat heb je goed onthouden Brumelda en vandaag is ook dochter Lindy jarig. Ze wordt alweer 27 jaar. Waar blijft de tijd !".

"Ja ze is al een echte dame geworden. En dan roepen we nu allemaal keihard: GEFELICITEERD Lindy !".

"And today we have a double celebration, because Michiel and you are married 8 years today, isn't it Carin?".

"You remember that correct Burmelda and also daughter Lindy has her birthday today. She is turning 27 years. Time flies !".

"She is a real lady now. So we all say very hard: HAPPY BIRTHDAY Lindy !".

"We zouden bijna vergeten te zeggen dat we nog een SBS blokje hebben gemaakt Carin en dat was nog wel zo'n mooie met oranje roosjes".

"Neehoor Brumelda, dat was ik niet vergeten want Bowy stond te kwispelen om zijn oranje tennisbal terug te krijgen".

"We almost forgot to say that we also made a SBS block Carin and that was a beautiful one with the orange roses".

"I didn't forget that Brumelda, because Bowy was wagging his tail to get his orange tennis bal back".

Brumelda is a great help

Ik ben druk bezig met de kinderquilt als er ineens aan op mijn arm getikt wordt.

"Psst Carin, ik weet dat je het druk hebt, maar heb je op de SBS groep gezien dat er deze week maar een heel simpel blokje gemaakt hoeft te worden?" 

Brumelda kijkt me aan met haar grote glimlach en zegt nog snel: "Het bestaat maar uit 9 stukjes. Kunnen we dat niet even tussendoor doen? Ik help je wel".

I'm very busy with the children's quilt when someone taps on my arm.

"Uhh Carin, I know you are very busy, but have you seen on the SBS group that this weeks BOW is a very easy block?

Brumelda looks at me with her big smile and says fast: "It only has 9 pieces. That is not a lot of work. I will help you". 

 

"Nou Brumelda, ik heb eigenlijk mijn handenvol aan de kinderquilt, maar als jij me helpt, dan moet het vast lukken. Zoek alvast maar een stofje uit dat je voor dit blok wilt gebruiken".

Dat laat Brumelda zich geen twee keer zeggen en ze duikt in de mand met blauwe stofjes. Niet veel later laat ze vol trots het stofje zien dat ze uitgekozen heeft.

"Is dit geen mooie Carin? Eentje met roosjes om te vieren dat we weer eens een blokje voor mijn quilt maken".

"Well Brumelda, I do have my hands full with the children's quilt, but if you will help me, I think we can manage. Will you look for a fabric we can use?".

I don't have to say that twice and Brumelda jumps into the basket with all the blue fabrics. A shot while later she proudly let me see the fabric she has choosen.

"Don't you think this is a beautiful one Carin? A fabric with roses to celebrate that we are making a block again for my quilt".

"Dat is zeker een mooi stofje Brumelda. Ik zal de stukjes freezerpaper op het stof strijken, dan mag jij ze uitknippen".

Niet veel later is ze druk bezig met de schaar om de 9 stukjes netjes uit te knippen. Ik laat het haar met de schaar doen en niet met het snijmes, want stel je voor dat ze zich per ongeluk snijdt.

"Thats a beautiful fabric Brumelda. I will iron the pieces of freezerpaper onto the fabric and you can cut them out".

Not much later Brumelda is busy with the scissor to cut out the 9 pieces. I have given her a scissor and not the rotarycutter, because I don't want to imagine that she cuts herself.

"Klaaaaar", roept ze op een gegeven moment. "Ik zal ze nu in de goede volgorde leggen zodat jij ze aan elkaar kunt naaien Carin en dan zijn we al klaar. Snel hé?".

"Readyyyy", she calls on one point. "I will lay them in the right order so you can sew them together Carin and then we are all done. Thats fast, isn't?".

Een voor een pak ik de stukjes op en naai ze aan elkaar. Dit blok is inderdaad heel eenvoudig en het duurt dan ook niet lang voor het in elkaar staat. 

Brumelda heeft ondertussen even een stoffen bloem gepakt, die Elly zo mooi gemaakt had voor de trunkshow van Supergoof in november en gaat snel zitten bij het blok dat wij SAMEN zo snel hebben gemaakt.

"Dat hebben we toch maar mooi snel gemaakt, nietwaar Carin?", zegt Brumelda en ze zit gewoon te stralen bij het blok.

One by one I pick up the pieces and sew them together. This is indeed a very simple block and not much later it is ready.

Brumelda has taken a fabric flower, that was made by Elly for the trunkshow from Supergoof last november and is going to sit by the block that we made TOGETHER so fast.

"We did that realy fast, isn't Carin?", says Brumelda and she gives me a big smile while she sits by the block.

Hallowe'en Blog Hop and Brumelda's birthday

Vandaag is het tijd voor de Hallowe'en Blog Hop georganiseerd door Jo. De bedoeling is dat je een halloween borduurwerk laat zien, nieuw gemaakt of eentje uit de oude doos. Bij elke deelnemer vindt je ook een letter die je steeds opschrijft en met alle letters maak je weer een gezegde die je in kunt sturen.

Ik heb gekozen voor een borduurwerk uit de oude doos aangezien ik door mijn tennis elleboog nog niet kan borduren. Het is Halloween Hornbook van Plum Street Samplers.

Today its time for the Hallowe'en Blog Hop organized by Jo. The ones who have joined this blog hop has to show a Halloween stitched piece, a new or a favorite old one. Each participant has to write down a letter and you can collect all the letters and then try to find out what the mystery phrase is.

I choose for a favorite old Halloween stitched piece because I still can't do any cross stitch with my tennis elbow. Its Halloween Hornbook from Plum Street Samplers.

En verder is vandaag ook Brumelda jarig. Ze weet zelf niet eens hoe oud ze wordt, wel weet ze dat bij een verjaardag een cadeau hoort :-) Maar eerst moest er gezongen worden voor de jarige die al klaar zit met haar eigen chocolade cupcake !

And today its also Brumelda's birthday. She doesn't know how old she is, but she knows that  when you have your birthday you get a present :-) But first we had to sing for the birthday girl, who sat already by her chocolate cupcake !

Toen we klaar waren met zingen, was de kleine heks al heel ongeduldig want ze wilde nu eindelijk eens zien wat we voor haar gekocht hadden. Nou Brumelda ... je zult toch eerst het papier eraf moeten halen.

When we finished our song, the little witch was very impatient to see her present. Well Brumelda ... you still have to take the paper off first.

In een recordtijd heeft ze het papier eraf gehaald en bewonderd ze haar pompoen potje. "Ohhh wat mooi, daar kan ik mooi mijn spulletjes in bewaren, zoals de hagedis staarten,  vleermuis vleugels, kikker ogen ....", zegt ze.

In no-time she has pull down the paper and then admired her pumpkin jar. "Ohhh that is so beautiful, now I can store my things, such as lizard tails, bat wings, frog eyes ..." she said.

"Dan zul je toch eerst het potje moeten leegmaken, want volgens mij zit er al iets in, Brumelda" zeg ik.

Snel tilt ze de deksel op en roept: "Yammie .... Candy Corns, wat ben ik toch een bofkont ! Nou Carin, over 2 dagen ben jij jarig en ik hoop dat jij dan net zo'n mooi cadeau krijgt als ik nu gekregen heb".

"Then you will have to first empty the jar, because I think there's something in it" I said.

She quickly tills the lid on and calls: "Yummy ... Candy Corns,  what a lucky girl I am ! Well Carin, in 2 days you have your birthday and I hope you get also a beautiful present just as I got".

Brumelda is helping me

Vele van jullie vroegen me waar Brumelda toch was, omdat ze zich al een tijdje niet heeft laten zien. Ik kan jullie vertellen dat ze achter de schermen heel druk is met van alles. Ze gaat regelmatig op stap met haar vriendjes en vaak helpt ze mij ook met lapjes aangeven. De laatste dagen wat meer, maar dat komt omdat ze weet dat haar verjaardag eraan komt (31 oktober) en nu probeert ze uit te vinden wat haar cadeau is. Ik heb gezegt dat ik niets ga verklappen en maar mooi moet wachten tot woensdag.

Many of you ask about Brumelda, how she was doing because she hasn't been around much lately. I can tell you she's very busy with everything behind the scenes. She regularly goes out with her friends and often she helps me with the fabric pieces. The last few days she helps some more because she knows its almost her birthday (october 31) and now she tries to find out what her present will be. I have told her that I will say nothing and that she has to wait till wednesday.

Brumelda vindt de halloween blokken ook erg leuk en de volgende is een van haar favorieten. Lynn gaf ons op dag 23 een mooi blok van haar kat Midnight.

Brumelda loves the halloween blocks and the next one is one of her favorites. Lynn gave us on day 23 a beautiful block of her cat Midnight.
