Borders & Crochet

In het weekend ben ik bezig geweest met de nieuwe randjes van Randje per Week. Het begint al wat te worden ;-)

In the weekend I stitched the new borders of Border each Week. It's starts to get shape ;-)

Gisteren was het Sampler Sunday, maar ik heb niet aan mijn sampler gewerkt, ik sla een weekje over. Ik had namelijk eindelijk mijn garen gevonden waarmee ik de deken wil haken. De deken die overal te zien is op blogs en facebook. 

De originele deken (in het Engels) kun je HIER (klik) zien. Op de blog van Terray (klik) vind je elke week een stukje van deze deken vertaald in het Nederlands. Ik ga hem voor nu niet als grote deken maken, maar als een schootdeken (ongeveer 1 m. x 1 m.). 

Ik gebruik 100% merinowol (Subtile van Scheepjes). Ook maak ik hem niet in allerlei kleuren maar helemaal in het gebroken wit. Met 1 bol kwam ik gisteren t/m rij 10. Nu kon ik meteen uittellen hoeveel bollen ik ongeveer nodig heb en die ga ik dinsdag halen zodat ik verder kan.

Yesterday it was Sampler Sunday, but I didn't stitch on my sampler. I pass 1 week, because I finally found my yarn for crochet the blanket that yousee popping up on blogs and facebook.

The blanket I mean you can find HERE (click). On Terray's blog we can find every week a translating in Dutch. For now I'm going to make not the large blanket but I make it in a lap blanket (40" x 40").

I'm going to use 100% merino wool (Subtile from Scheepjes). I also going to make it not in all kind of colors, but only in one color (ivory). With 1 ball I crochet up to row 10. So now I can count how many balls I need for the lap blanket so I can but the rest on tuesday when the shop is open again.

Het is haast verslavend om deze steken te haken, dus ben ik met ander garen hem nogmaals aan het maken. Het garen wat ik hiervoor gebruik is Drops Baby Alpaca Silk (70% alpaca en 30% zijde) en dat is echt superzacht. Ik maak hem met dit garen als das (sjaal) met een breedte van ongeveer 27 cm. Ik ga 5 kleuren gebruiken maar niet steeds afwisselend zoals in de deken, maar ik neem om de 35-40 cm. pas een andere kleur.

It is addicted to crochet these stitches, so I started another one with a different yarn. The yarn I'm using here is Drops Baby Alpaca Silk (70% alpaca and 30% silk) and that is so very soft. With this yarn I'm making it into a scarf  which will be around 11" width. I'm going to use 5 colors but not as stripey as the blanket. I will take every time a new color when I have crochet about 14".

Border each Week 11-12

Door andere bezigheden vanavond pas mijn 2 nieuwe borders geborduurd van Randje per Week. Morgen is het weer tijd voor de sampler op zondag, maar 's middags eerst op visite bij mijn zus die dan jarig is.

Due to circumstances I only could stitch my 2 new borders for Border each Week tonight. Tomorrow it is time again for my Sunday Sampler, but in the afternoon first to visit my sister who has her birthday.

Border each Week 9 - 10

Gisteravond weer de nieuwe randjes van deze week uitgeprint en geborduurd. Zojuist bij daglicht een foto gemaakt. Elke zaterdag vind je nieuwe randjes op DIT (klik) blog.

Yesterdag I printed the new pattern for the next two borders and stitched them. Just now by daylight I took a picture. Each saturday you can print the new borders for free on THIS (click) blog.

Border each Week 7 - 8

Gisteravond konden we weer het nieuwe patroon uitprinten van Randje per Week en omdat Michiel toch late dienst had, heb ik meteen de 2 randjes erop geborduurd, zodat ze alweer klaar zijn.

Last night we could print the new pattern of Border each Week and because Michiel had the late shift at work, I had time to stitch the 2 borders and they are already finished.

Ook heb ik inmiddels Calendar Girl January van LHN af, maar die moet ik nog even afwerken. Hier alvast een klein voorproefje ;-)

Border each Week 4 - 6

Gisteravond konden we de volgende randjes printen via het blog Randje per Week (klik). Ook deze keer waren het 3 randjes die er met 1 uur weer opstonden. 
Leuk om te zien dat er maar zo weinig kleurverschil zit in mijn 5 tinten DMC (gebruikt in de eerste 5 randen), maar dat geeft het net een beetje extra.

Last night we could print the next borders on the blog Border each Week (click). Again this time 3 borders which I stitched in 1 hour.
Its nice to see how delicate my color difference is,  stitched with 5 colors DMC (I used all 5 in the first 5 borders), but I think that gives it just that bit of extra.

Border each Week

Vandaag is er gestart met het Randje per Week (klik), een idee van Simone en Annelies. Inmiddels gaan er meer dan 500 borduursters meedoen.

Ik vond het idee ook meteen leuk, maar om nu een band van 2 meter te borduren en die opgerold weg te leggen, dat trok mij weer niet. In plaats van linnenband ga ik nu op gewoon linnen borduren die ik later ga afwerken met quiltstofjes zodat ik een tafelloper krijg.

Today is the start of Border each Week (click), an idea of Simone and Annelies. There are more then 500 stitchers that will join.

I liked the idea right away but to stitch a roll of 2 meter and then put it away, that I didn't liked. So instead of stitching it on a linen band I'm going to stitch it on regular linen, that when it is finished, I'm going to sew around some quilt fabric so I get a table runner.

Er is ook een facebook groep (klik) opgestart om je vorderingen te laten zien. Zoals ik al zei ga ik het borduren op naturel linnen (12 draads) en ik ga de 5 creme/ivoor kleuren gebruiken die ik ook voor de Romantique Sampler heb gebruikt, die je hier op de foto ziet. De nummers zijn: DMC 712, 822, 3033, 3865 en 3866.

As I said I'm going to stitch it on naturel linen (32 count) and I'm going to use the 5 creme/ivory colors that I also used on the Romantique Sampler, that you can see in the picture. Afgelopen nacht om 12 uur verscheen het eerste patroon, met daarop 3 randjes, die inmiddels geborduurd zijn. Er wordt begonnen met eenvoudige randjes omdat dit vroeger ook gebeurde met schoollapjes. Nu is het weer 1 week wachten voor de volgende komt.

Last night at 12 AM (European Time) the first pattern, with 3 borders, was published on the blog and I have stitched it already. They start with easy borders because in the past, schoolgirls began also with easy ones. Now I have to wait 1 week for the next installment.

Ook ben ik aan de slag gegaan met de stofjes die ik laatst gekocht heb bij De Quiltsteek. Ik ga daarvan een tafelloper maken voor mijn dochter Lindy. De eerste quiltblokjes van de Garden Path (Tuinpad) zijn inmiddels gemaakt.

I also started with the fabrics I bought at De Quiltsteek a few weeks back. I'm going to make a tablerunner for my daughter Lindy. The first quiltblocks for the Garden Path are made.

Last day of 2013

En dan zijn we aangekomen op de laatste dag van 2013, weer een jaar dat vol zat met verrassingen, hele leuke en soms wat minder leuke, maar al met al geen slecht jaar. Ik ben benieuwd wat 2014 voor ons in petto heeft en welke dingen we weer op ons pad mogen begroeten.

Gistermiddag heb ik heerlijk zitten borduren en de laatste steek aan Magic Christmas Eve was gemaakt voor het avondeten. 

And now we arrived at the last day of 2013, a year full of surprises, very good ones but also less good ones. All with all not a bad year. I'm curious what 2014 has in store for us and what kind of things we see on our path.

Yesterday afternoon I spend my time on cross stitching and before diner I put in the last stitch on Magic Christmas Eve.

Gisteravond, onder het kijken van de spannende halve finale WK Darten, heb ik dit borduurwerk meteen afgewerkt in een grotere pinkeep. Hij krijgt een mooi plekje op de kast.

Yesterday evening, when I was watching the semi final WK Darts, I turned it into a larger pinkeep. It gets a nice place on the closet in our living room.

Fabric: 28 ct. tea-dyed evenweave

Threads: Nina's Threads (Chilli, Bark), Gentle Art (Dark Chocolate, Maple Syrup), Crescent Colors (Brown Sugar), DMC (B5200, 3371, 938, 3012)

Gewoon simpel afgewerkt met rondom touw en 2 roestige klokjes. Het patroon Magic Christmas Eve is van The Little Stitcher (klik).

Just simple finished with a string all around and two rusty bells. The pattern Magic Christmas Eve is from The Little Stitcher (click).
