Month 2 the wreaths

Het is inmiddels 9 dagen geleden dat ik een blogje schreef. Ik ben druk geweest in en rond het huis. Zoonlief die alweer 32 jaar geworden is, een heerlijke dag op bezoek bij vriendin Trees en natuurlijk gewerkt aan de applicatie blokken voor maand 2 van de Sarah Fielke BOM: Happy Days. De blokken zijn vandaag afgekomen, het waren heel veel blaadjes ;-)

It has been 9 days since my last post. I have been busy working in and around the house. My son had his 32th birthday, a lovely day visiting my friend Trees and of course I worked on the applique blocks for month 2 of the Sarah Fielke BOM: Happy Days. I finished these blocks today, there were a lot of leaves ;-)

Happy Days blocks

Zoals ik al zei, ... nu eerst weer werken aan de Sarah Fielke BOM, de Happy Days quilt. Naast de 24 sterrenblokjes, waarvan er 3 klaar zijn (klik) en de rest gedurende de andere maanden gemaakt worden, moest er voor maand 1 ook een groot blok gemaakt worden.

As I said in my previous post, ...  now it is time to work on the Sarah Fielke BOM, the Happy Days quilt. Beside the 24 star blocks, of which there are 3 ready (click) and the rest I will make during the next months, I also had to make 1 large block.

In het midden het stofje dat ook in de sterrenblokjes als middendeel gebruikt wordt.

In the middle I used the same fabric as I did for the star blocks.

 

Voor maand 2 moest er ook een groot blok gemaakt worden.

For month 2 I also had to make 1 large block.

 

Ook hier in het midden hetzelfde stofje gebruikt. Voor maand 2 moeten er ook 9 applicatieblokken gemaakt worden, waarmee ik inmiddels gestart ben.

Here I also used the same fabric for the middle part. For month 2 I also have to make 9 applique blocks, I'm working on them already.

 

En dan kwam er van de week ook nog een leuke verrassing van Sylvia (klik).

Last week a lovely surprise from Sylvia (click) arrived. 

Ik had een speldenkussen gewonnen wat ze zelf gemaakt had, er zat ook nog een prachtig stofje bij en schattige houten knoopjes.

I had won a pincushion she made herself, she included a beautiful fabric and lovely wooden buttons.

Het prachtige speldenkussen heeft zelfs kleine pootjes ;-)

Sylvia nogmaals bedankt, ik ben er blij mee en het speldenkussen heb ik al in gebruik.

Sylvia thank you again, I'm realy happy with it and I already have the pincushion in use.

First stars are born

De afgelopen dagen ben ik druk bezig geweest om stofjes bij elkaar te zoeken voor The Rowdy Flat Library quilt van Susan Smith, maar ik zocht er ook bij elkaar voor de nieuwe BOM van Sarah Fielke, genaamd Happy Days (klik). Tenslotte heb ik daar de eerste 2 maanden al van binnen. Voor maand 1 moeten er 24 sterren gemaakt worden, nu hoeven die niet allemaal deze maand klaar te zijn, maar ik heb ze inmiddels wel al allemaal geknipt. Eerst werden alle driehoekjes geknipt, 8 per sterretje.

The last few days I have been busy with sorting out my fabrics for The Rowdy Flat Library quilt from Susan Smith, but I also picked my fabrics for the new BOM of Sarah Fielke, called Happy Days (click). After all, the first 2 months are already been released. For month 1 we have to do 24 stars, we don't have to make them all in this first month, but I already cut out all the pieces. First I cut all the little triangles, 8 for each star.

Voor het middenstuk van elke ster ga ik dit lieve stofje gebruiken. Het heet Little Darlings en is van Henry Glass.

For the middle part of each star I'm going to use this lovely fabric. It is called Little Darlings and it is from Henry Glass.

En als je 24 afbeeldingen uit knipt, dan hou je een soort van gatenkaas lap over ;-)

And when you cut out 24 prints, you being left with a sort of Swiss Cheese fabric ;-)

Daarna moesten de achtergrond stofjes nog geknipt worden. Ik heb gekozen voor off white stofjes met kleine printjes, zoals hondjes, bloempjes, vlinders etc.

Then I have to cut out all those background fabrics. I have choosing for off white fabrics with  small prints, such as dogs, flowers, butterflies etc.

Daarna maar meteen wat sterretjes gemaakt, de eerste 3 zijn inmiddels af en ik vind ze zelf enorm leuk geworden. Het blijft altijd spannend om te zien of het wordt zoals je in je hoofd hebt.

Then I made some stars, the first 3 are made and I realy like them. It is always exciting to see if they turn out as you thought they would.

First basket and a new BOM

Het eerste blok van maand 1 van de Piece and Plenty quilt was behoorlijk wat werk, maar het is me toch gelukt. Een mand vol bloemen is het resultaat. Bij maand 1 horen ook nog 5 kleinere mandjes, die ik nog moet maken. In mijn bericht van 1 januari vindt je de link naar deze gratis BOM.

The first block of month 1 of the Piece and Plenty quilt was a bit of work, but I manage to make it. A basket full of flowers is the result. With month 1 there also going to be 5 little baskets, but I still have to make them. In my post of january 1 you can find a link to this free BOM.

Sarah Fielke, een bekend Australische quilt ontwerpster, begint ook met een nieuwe BOM (klik voor meer informatie). Ze heeft speciaal hiervoor een FB groep geopend, maar deze is alleen open voor mensen die zich opgegeven hebben. Ze zal daar filmpjes en tutorials laten zien over de technieken die in deze quilt voorkomen.

Tot nu toe is er alleen een schets bekend van hoe de quilt er ongeveer uit zal komen te zien en toen ik die zag was ik om. Ik heb me inmiddels aangemeld en laatst deze maand zullen de eerste blokken mijn mail komen binnen rollen.

Sarah Fielke, a well known Australian quilt designer, starts with a new BOM (click for more information). She has specially opened a FB group for this quilt, but only for the ones who signed up for it. There she will show video's and tutorials about techniques that you have to know for this quilt.

For now only a sketch is showed, but when I saw it I loved it right away. I already signed up for this quilt and last january the first patterns will roll into my mailbox.
