Advent day 24

Vandaag een bak dag gehad. Het hele huis ruikt nog naar gingerbread koekjes.

I had a baking day today. The whole house still smells like gingerbread cookies.

Ik won dit boek vorige week in de give away die Manuela Inusa elke dag hield tijdens advent.
Een boek uit de Valerie Lane serie. Ben er zo blij mee, gelukkig kan ik ook goed Duits lezen. Ze stuurde ook nog volop andere dingen mee. 

I won this book last week in the giveaway that Manuela Inusa held every day during Advent. A book from the Valerie Lane series. I'm so happy with it, luckily I also can read German. She also sent plenty of other things.

In de late middag hebben wij weer volop gingerbread koekjes gebakken voor de kinderen en kleinkinderen. Het is stilaan een traditie geworden want ze vinden ze heerlijk. Twee koektrommels worden morgen weer afgegeven, uiteraard blijft 1 koektrommel hier bij ons.

In the late afternoon we baked plenty of gingerbread cookies for the children and grandchildren. It has gradually become a tradition because they love them. Two cookie jars will be delivered again tomorrow, of course, 1 cookie jar will stay here with us.

Later deze week zal er nog een overzicht foto komen van alle garens uit de advent kalenders. Ik ben al volop plannen aan het bedenken wat ik ermee ga maken.

Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday

Op eerste kerstdag wordt Mees weer een jaar ouder, hij is nu 3 jaar. Hij krijgt vandaag nog een heerlijk bot en iets om mee te spelen. Gefeliciteerd Mees !

On Christmas Day, Mees turns a year older again, he is now 3 years old. Today he gets a lovely bone and something to play with. Congratulations Mees!

Ook mocht ik nog enkele pakjes open maken vandaag. Allereerst 2 strengen van Crealien Designs (ik had er 1 extra bij besteld).

I was also allowed to open a few packages today. First of all, 2 skeins from Crealien Designs (I ordered 1 extra).

Gistermiddag hebben we ook weer gingerbread koekjes gebakken naar een recept van Laura's bakery. We nemen er straks ook een aantal mee voor de kleindochters als we naar zoonlief gaan waar ook onze dochter met haar gezin heen gaat. De deeg stempel kochten we laatst in Duitsland.

Yesterday afternoon we also baked gingerbread cookies based on a recipe from Laura's bakery. We will also take some with us for the granddaughters when we go to visit our son this afternoon, where our daughter is also going with her family. We recently bought a dough stamp in Germany.

First week of January

De eerste week van januari is omgevlogen. In deze week begon ik met het breien van de Dust of Snow sjaal, een patroon van Curious Handmade (Helen Stewart). Ik gebruik de 2021 advent kalender strengetjes van Crealien Design en kleur 3 ligt al klaar om opgedraaid te worden. Ik brei een paar naalden meer  tussen de ribbels zodat de sjaal iets langer wordt omdat in het patroon gebruik wordt gemaakt van een gewone draad samen met een mohair draad en die mohair draad gebruik ik niet.

The first week of January has flown by. In this week I started knitting the Dust of Snow shawl, a pattern from Curious Handmade (Helen Stewart). I use the 2021 advent calendar skeins from Crealien Design and color 3 is already ready to be wound. I knit a few more rows between the garter rows to make the shawls a bit longer because the pattern uses a regular thread together with a mohair thread and I don't use that mohair thread.

Ook keek ik deze week alle afleveringen van The Witcher, een fantasy serie op Netflix. Nu wachten op het nieuwe seizoen. Daarnaast las ik mijn 1e boek van 2022 uit. De Wilde Stilte van Raynor Winn, het vervolg op Het zoutpad. Ook dit was weer een mooi boek om te lezen.

I also watched all episodes of The Witcher, a fantasy series on Netflix this week. Now waiting for the new season. In addition, I finished my 1st book of 2022. Raynor Winn's Wild Silence, the sequel to The Salt Path. This was also a nice book to read.

Ik maakte ook groentensoep tijdens de koude dagen in de eerste week van januari. Momenteel is de temperatuur weer omhoog aan het gaan. Een echte winter hebben wij hier nog niet gehad, maar een goedgevulde soep gaat er altijd in.

I also made vegetable soup during the cold days in the first week of January. The temperature is currently rising again. We have not yet had a real winter here, but a well-filled soup is always welcome.

De december Harry Potter Mysterie set van Nicole C Mendez kwam laatst december ook binnen. Dit is een 3 maanden abonnement met zelfstrepend garen. De kleur is is Quidditch World Cup.

Ik heb het garen tot een bol opgedraaid zodat je een beetje ziet hoe het streeppatroon verloopt.

Advent day 16

Dag 16 alweer. Vanmiddag komt de oedeem therapeut weer. Het lopen zelf gaat ietsjes beter, maar met het houden van mijn evenwicht wil het nog wel eens verkeerd gaan. Met de conditie training blijf ik ook goed bezig, maar zie zelf nog niet echt resultaat. Geduld Carin, geduld.

Day 16 again. The edema therapist will come again this afternoon. The walking itself is getting a bit better, but with keeping my balance it can sometimes go wrong. I also keep doing my condition training well, but I don't see any real results yet. Patience Carin, patience.

Vandaag achter het raampje van de kalender gekregen van mijn petekind Amy een foto van 14 of 15 jaar geleden. Daar is Bob, een jack russell die we in huis haalde, als maatje voor Senna onze andere jack russell, toen hij al 11,5 jaar was. Hij ging mee op wandelingen en zwemmen vond hij prachtig. We hebben ruim 4 jaar van hem genoten. Hij stierf net 1 week voor zijn 16 verjaardag.

Today, behind the window of the calendar I received from my godchild Amy, a photo from 14 or 15 years ago. There's Bob, a jack russell that we brought home, as a buddy for Senna our other jack russell, when he was already 11.5 years old. He went on walks and he loved swimming. We have enjoyed him for over 4 years. He died just 1 week before his 16 birthday.

Deel 6 van de sokken is ook af maar heeft geen naam omdat het de hiel betreft.
Kay verteld een stukje uit het boek wat gaat over Mary en Laura die op zolder spelen met hun poppen. Boven hen hangt het vlees in zakken te drogen, maar ook  uien en andere groenten hangen er, zodat ze de hele winter te eten hebben.

Part 6 of the socks is also finished but has no name because it concerns the heel.
Kay tells a part of the book about Mary and Laura playing with their dolls in the attic. Above them the meat hangs in bags to dry, but also onions and other vegetables hang there, so that they can eat all winter.

Advent day 15

Ik heb mijn breiwerk nog niet af omdat ik vandaag druk in de keuken ben geweest en dat moest ik later deze middag bekopen met veel moeheid. Ik was bezig geweest met het maken van Chutney, een recept dat Kay van de Bakery Bears met ons deelde op de patreon site, dus helaas kan ik dat niet hier delen. Hij smaakt in elk geval wel heel goed.

I haven't finished my knitting yet because I've been busy in the kitchen today and I had to pay for that later this afternoon with a lot of tiredness. I had been making Chutney, a recipe Kay from the Bakery Bears shared with us on the patreon site, so unfortunately I can't share it here. Anyway, it tastes really good.

En dan werd ik gisteren ook nog verrast met een doos, die verstuurd was door een  lieve vriendin. Vol verbazing opende ik het doosje en erin zaten heel veel mooie lapjes voor mijn strikjes quilt, een prachtige houten hanger met mijn naam en ook nog een hele mooie etui. Ik moest wel even slikken bij al dat moois. Zo lief.

And then yesterday I was also surprised with a box, which was sent by a dear friend. I opened the box in amazement and in it were many beautiful pieces of fabric for my bow quilt, a beautiful wooden pendant with my name and also a very nice pencil case. I had to swallow at all that beauty. So sweet.

Advent day 13 and Happy birthday Lana

 
Vandaag 13 december wordt onze oudste kleindochter Lana 2 jaar. Het is zo'n heerlijk kind, een echt mensenkind dat geniet van iedereen. Vanmiddag gaan we naar haar toe, want een jarige verdiend een cadeau toch? Gefeliciteerd lieve Lana. Morgen zal ik een foto van de jarige posten.

Today December 13, our oldest granddaughter Lana turns 2 years old. She is such a wonderful child, a real human child who enjoys everyone. We are going to her this afternoon, because a birthday girl deserves a present, right? Congratulations dear Lana. Tomorrow I will post a picture of the birthday girl.
