It's been a while

 Het is 10 maanden geleden dat ik een berichtje schreef terwijl ik genoeg te vertellen had. Ik heb wel steeds alles op instagram gepost, maar de fut om een bericht hier te schrijven bleef uit. 
Als ik alles zou schrijven wat er in die 10 maanden is gebeurd, dan zou dit een super lang bericht zijn. Ik ga daarom de komende dagen steeds een bericht posten.
Als eerste de werkjes waar ik mee bezig ben.
Granny squares (gehaakt met wolletjes van swap met vriendin in 2024), hier wil ik een deken mee maken.

It's been 10 months since I last wrote a post, even though I had so much to say. I've been posting everything on Instagram, but I haven't had the energy to write a post here.
If I were to write everything that happened in those 10 months, this would be a super long post. So I'm going to post one at a time over the next few days.
First, the projects I'm working on:
Granny squares (crocheted with yarn from a swap with a friend in 2024); I want to make a blanket with these.

Wat gebeurde er nog meer:
Onze middelste kleindochter Yara werd in mei 5 jaar.

What else happened:
Our middle granddaughter Yara turned 5 in May.

1x per jaar mogen de kinderen een restaurant uitzoeken waar we gaan eten. Dit is ons cadeau in plaats van ze een verjaardags cadeau te geven en ze vinden dit geweldig (de kleinkinderen blijven thuis). 
Dit jaar kozen ze voor een Crazy Diner. Aan de hand van beschrijvingen moet je raden waar dit in het 5 gangen menu past. Het kan dus zijn dat je je hoofdgerecht als eerste krijgt zonder bestek en je voorgerecht als laatste met bv alleen een mes. Het was echt hilarisch.

Once a year, the children get to choose a restaurant where we dine. This is our gift instead of a birthday present, and they love it (the grandchildren stay home).
This year, they chose a Crazy Dinner. Using descriptions, you have to guess where it fits into the 5-course menu. So, you might get your main course first, without cutlery, and your appetizer last, with, say, just a knife. It was truly hilarious.

Net als vorig jaar (ballon vlucht) wilde Michiel ook dit jaar iets doen en hij koos voor zweefvliegen. Alleen schoondochter Irene wilde dit ook wel doen en dus gingen ze met zijn  tweetjes dat doen in augustus. Beide hebben enorm genoten.

Just like last year (hot air balloon flight), Michiel wanted to do something special this year, and he chose gliding. Only our daughter-in-law Irene was interested, so the two of them went together in August. They both had a wonderful time.

September update

Op 1 september kwam het patroon van My Reading Shawl uit, een ontwerp van Kay Jones. Ik had er al enige tijd naar uitgekeken.
Het wordt gebreid met dubbele draad in 24 kleuren waardoor je dan 12 gekleurde strepen krijgt, afgewisseld met een contrastkleur.
Ik gebruikt er de adventskalender Sweet Tooth uit 2020 van Het wolbeest voor met  prachtige zachte tinten, afgewisseld met een naturel kleur.

On September 1 the My Reading Shawl pattern came out, a design by Kay Jones. I had been looking forward to it for some time.
It is knitted with double yarn in 24 colours, giving you 12 colored stripes, alternating with a contrasting colour.
I'm using Het wolbeest's 2020 Sweet Tooth advent calendar with beautiful soft shades, interspersed with a natural color.

Op 6 september moest ik weer naar Maastricht voor mijn jaarlijkse mri. Ik heb er precies anderhalf uur ingelegen en de uitslag komt over 6 weken. Onderweg in de auto had ik gebreid aan de Hobbity sokken (uit de knitability van de Bakerybears 41), weer een heerlijk patroontje.

On September 6 I had to go to Maastricht hospital again for my annual MRI. I was in it for exactly an hour and a half and the results will come in 6 weeks. On the way in the car I knitted the Hobbity socks (from Bakerybears knitability 41), another lovely pattern.

Op 9 september had ik 3 gekleurde rijen in My Reading Shawl zitten.

13 september: Ik mocht een patroon testen van Sokken van pien, de Scrappy Lines socks.
Ik gebruikte de kleur Dark Ink van Irish fairytale yarns met 14 mini strengen van Vmcjknitwear en 2 uit mijn voorraad.
Het patroon is een aanrader, het vliegt van de naald en is super leuk om te breien.

13 September: I was allowed to test a pattern from Sokken van pien, the Scrappy Lines socks. I used the color Dark Ink from Irish fairytale yarns with 14 mini skeins from Vmcjknitwear and 2 from my stash.
The pattern is highly recommended, it flies off the needle and is super fun to knit.

Op 17 september was ik bezig met kleur 5 van My reading shawl, zacht geel. De kleuren zijn echt super mooi.

On September 17 I was working on color 5, a soft yellow. The colors are so beautiful.

Deze mooie strengen van Therese Notenboom kwamen binnen op 19 september.

De hobbity socks waren af op 21 september. Het patroon komt uit de Knitability 41 van de Bakery Bears. Ik liet ze meedoen aan de wedstrijd Selfstripingkal van Bakery Bears.

Op 26 september begonnen Francien en ik weer met het geven van een workshop Sokken Breien op de rondbreinaald bij Tante Tuttebol. Het zijn weer 4 avonden die we in 5 weken geven. De eerste les beginnen ze met het breien van de boord.

On September 26, Francien and I started giving a Sock Knitting on Circular Needle workshop again at yarnshop Tante Tuttebol. There are again 4 evenings that we give in 5 weeks. They start the first lesson by knitting the cuff

28 september: Vandaag begint Kirsten van Haak Maar Raak met de Rainbow Sampler 2. Elke week een stukje haken.
Ik zelf gebruik het Scrumptious garen van Scheepjes in plaats van de Colourcrafter omdat ik dit veel prettiger vind haken. Dit zijn de kleuren die ik ga gebruiken.

September 28: Today Kirsten from Haak Maar Raak starts with the Rainbow Sampler 2. Crochet a piece every week.
I use the Scrumptious yarn from Scheepjess instead of the Colourcrafter because I find it much more pleasant to crochet. These are the colors I will be using.

Twee dagen later had ik deel 1 af.

I finished part 1 two days later.

Op 30 september ging een wens van Michiel in vervulling. Samen met schoondochter Irene, nichtje Amy en haar man Micha maakte hij een ballonvaart. Ze hebben er alle 4 enorm van genoten. Ik bleef heerlijk met mijn voeten aan de grond.

On September 30 Michiel's wish came true. He made a balloon flight together with daughter-in-law Irene, niece Amy and her husband Micha. All 4 of them enjoyed it immensely. I stayed with my feet on the ground.

Eindelijk mag het hoge woord eruit 😃
Ik ben al ruim 14 dagen zo druk met van alles hier in huis op orde te brengen, want mijn dochter komt met haar Engelse vriend en hun dochter Lana terug naar Nederland. Niet op vakantie, maar om er te gaan wonen.
Ze komen dan eventjes (geen idee voor hoelang) bij ons inwonen tot ze een eigen woning hebben gevonden. Het zal druk worden hier, maar ook SUPER gezellig. We kijken er heel erg naar uit. Nog een paar weken wachten en dan is het zover 😍 Lana is al druk bezig om alles in te pakken daar (onder toezicht van mama).

Finally I can tell everyone 😃
For more than 14 days I have been so busy arranging everything in the house, because my daughter is returning to the Netherlands with her English friend and their daughter Lana. Not on vacation, but to live there.
They then come to live with us for a while (we don't know for how long) until they have found their own home. It will be busy here, but also super cozy. We are very much looking forward to it. Only a few weeks to wait and then the time has come 😍 Lana is already busy packing everything there (under the supervision of mom).

Ik kan niets laten zien wat handwerk betreft, want ik heb amper iets gebreid en helemaal niets gequilt de afgelopen weken, omdat we dus zo druk bezig zijn in huis. Mijn hele quiltkamer die tjokvol staat moest leeg gehaald worden en op zolder weer opgebouwd worden, zodat ik daar vooruit kan. Op mijn quiltkamer kan dan dochter en vriend slapen voor de komende tijd en op onze kleinste kamer hebben we al een babykamer opgebouwd voor Lana. Er is nog van alles te doen de komende weken. Er zijn wel nog wat mooie garens binnen gekomen die ik jullie kan laten zien.

Mysterie set Zomer van Irish Fairytale Yarns kwam op 8 juli binnen. Dit is een seizoens abonnement dat 4x per jaar komt. De kleuren zijn geweldig 😍, ik vind de groene met het blauw geweldig.

I can't show anything when it comes to handicrafts, because I have barely knitted anything and quilted nothing in recent weeks, because we are so busy in the house. My entire quilting room, which was very full, had to be emptied and rebuilt in the attic so that I can work there when they get here. In my quilt room, daughter and friend can sleep for the coming period and in our smallest room we have already built a baby room for Lana. There is still plenty to do in the coming weeks. The things I can show you are some yarns that arrived.

Mystery set Summer from Irish Fairytale Yarns came on July 8. This is a seasonal subscription that comes 4 times a year. The colors are so beautiful 😍, love those green with the blue.

Mijn juni streng van Piratenwolle kwam dezelfde dag binnen, dit is van mijn jaarabonnement. De kleur heet Summerbreeze.

Op 13 juli kwam het juni wolletje van de Warme Voeten club van Atelier Het Wolbeest. Thema dit jaar is Beatrix Potter. Erbij zat weer een mini streng, thee en iets van chocolade/caramel. Ook een stitchmarker van Chapel view crafts in de vorm van een stukje kaas. Deze maand is het Diederik Stadsmuis 😍.

On July 13 I received my June yarn from the Warme Voetenclub (warm feet club) from Atelier Het Wolbeest. Theme this year is Beatrix Potter. Also included is a mini skein, tea, caramel and a cheese stitchmarker from Chapel view crafts. This month it is Johnny Townmouse 😍.

Vandaag wordt bij Michiel ook een ERCP uitgevoerd in Endhoven. Dit omdat hij vorige week woensdag met de ambulance naar het ziekenhuis in Weert werd vervoerd vanwege een galsteenaanval. Op vrijdag mocht hij naar huis omdat de klachten minder waren, maar zijn galblaas moet eruit omdat er meerdere galstenen zitten.

Doordat 1 steentje op en neer zit te stuiteren in de grote doorgang en daardoor de operatie niet kan plaats vinden (ze kunnen dan niets afklemmen), moet dit vandaag via de ERCP met een roesje eerst verwijderd worden. Hij mag dan morgen naar huis. Vrijdag mag hij dan op controle in Weert waar ze hem meteen gaan inplannen voor de volgende operatie, het verwijderen van de galblaas. Die ze dan binnen een paar dagen hopen te doen. 

Gelukkig hoeven er geen zware dingen meer verplaatst te worden in huis, want na de operatie mag michiel een week of 6 niets zwaars tillen. Jullie begrijpen het al, ik hoef me zeker niet te vervelen.

Michiel is at the hospital in Eindhoven, he is having an ERCP today.  This is because he was transported by ambulance to the hospital in Weert last Wednesday because of a gallstone attack. He was allowed to go home on Friday because the complaints were less, but his gallbladder has to be removed because there are several gallstones.
Because 1 stone is bouncing up and down in the large passage and therefore the operation cannot take place (they cannot clamp anything), this must first be removed via the ERCP with a light anesthesia. He can go home tomorrow.
On Friday he has a check-up in Weert hospital where they will immediately schedule him for the next operation, the removal of the gallbladder. Which they hope to do within a few days.
Fortunately, heavy things no longer need to be moved around the house, because after the operation, Michael cannot lift anything heavy for about 6 weeks. You already understand, I am certainly not bored.

Making progress

Het lijkt wel lente, zo prachtig mooi weer is het. Michiel is er blij mee, want vandaag is het weer de jaarlijkse werkdag in het Weerterbos met de plaatselijke scouting. Een werkdag die Michiel elk jaar organiseert voor ze, in samenwerking met het Stichting Limburgs Landschap. 

Ik hou me in de tussentijd bezig met bolletjes wol. Kleur 3 van de Sunshower sjaal van Ambah O'Brien is ook weer gebreid. Het garen is van de 12 days advent kalender 2018 van Strawberry Fields Yarns ( boek thema).

It  looks like spring, so beautiful weather it is. Michiel is happy with it, because today is again the annual working day in a forst nearby called Weerterbos with the local scouting. A working day that Michiel organizes for them every year, in collaboration with the Limburg Landscape Foundation.
In the meantime I am busy with mt yarn. Color 3 of the Sunshower shawl from Ambah O'Brien is knitted. The yarn is from the 12 days advent calendar 2018 from Strawberry Fields Yarns (book theme).

Advent day 21

Vandaag is het Midwinter. Andere benamingen voor het begin van de winter zijn: Winterzonnewende, Joel (Yule) of wintersolstitium. Midwinter valt op de kortste dag, wanneer de nacht op zijn langst is. Meestal op 21 december (i.v.m. schrikkeljaren soms op 22 december). Na Midwinter zullen de nachten weer korter gaan worden en de dagen langer.

Dit is een thee kalender die ik zelf heb samen gesteld voor enkele familie leden. Elke dag probeer ik ze te verassen met een heerlijke thee en een leuke grap (te lezen op de  foto).

Michiel was een paar weken geleden geslaagd voor het Green Belt project (het zo efficiënt en doelgericht mogelijk werken op een bedrijf) en kon gisteren zijn certificaat ophalen. Naast een goede fles wijn kreeg hij ook een prachtige bos bloemen voor zijn vrouw, want naast de uren hieraan werken op zijn werk, heeft hij ook daarnaast prive heel veel uren hierin moeten steken. Ik ben in elk geval blij met de bloemen en Michiel mag de wijn opdrinken.

Michiel passed for his Green Belt project (to work as efficiently and efficiently as possible on a company) a few weeks ago and had to pick up his certificate yesterday. They gave him a good bottle of wine, he also received a beautiful flower bouquet for his wife, because in addition to working hours on his work, he also had to spend a lot of hours in private on this project. In any case, I am happy with the flowers and Michiel can drink the wine.
