My projects in January

 Op 1 januari begon ik met de Snowy Pines wrap, een patroon van Yarnia designs.
Ik gebruik hiervoor het garen van de adventskalender 2023 (A Country Walk) van The woolly chicken.

On January 1st I started with the Snowy Pines wrap, a pattern from Yarnia designs.
I use the yarn from the 2023 advent calendar (A Country Walk) from The woolly chicken.

Op 5 januari: Van Deep Dark Forest (kleur 1) naar Whispering of the Woods (kleur 2). Klaar om Green Pastures (kleur 3) toe te voegen.

On January 5: From Deep Dark Forest (color 1) to Whispering of the Woods (color 2). Ready to add Green Pastures (color 3).

Op 9 januari: Green Pastures (kleur 3) en ook Wildflower meadow (kleur 4) zitten in de sjaal. We verlaten de groen tinten en gaan door met Wild orchids (kleur 5).

On January 9: Green Pastures (color 3) and also Wildflower meadow (color 4) are included in the shawl. We leave the green shades and continue with Wild orchids (color 5).

Op 19 januari: Het konijntje huppelt nu rond in de roze kleuren. Van Wild orchids (kleur 5) naar Blooming marvellous (kleur 6) en nu speelt ze verder in de Briar roses (kleur 7).

On January 19: The bunny is now hopping around in the pink colors. From Wild orchids (color 5) to Blooming marvelous (color 6) and now she continues in the Briar roses (color 7).

Op 25 januari: Van Briar roses (kleur 7) naar Riverside Ramble (kleur 8 en dan door de Poppy Fields (kleur  9). Nu speelt het konijntje even rustig verder In the Summer Heat (kleur 10).

Naast de Snowy Pines wrap ben ik ook begonnen met de Go Go Throw van Ambah O'Brien. Deze vordert een stuk langzamer, want hij heeft veel meer steken in de breedte maar het blijft een leuk patroon om te breien.
Ook brei ik een extra herhaling in de hoogte, omdat ik met een iets dunnere naald brei.
Ik gebruik voor deze sjaal de prachtige garens uit de adventskalender 2023 van Crealien design, gecombineerd met een ongeverfde streng.

In addition to the Snowy Pines wrap, I also started with the Go Go Throw from Ambah O'Brien. This one progresses a lot slower, because it has many more stitches in width, but it is still a fun pattern to knit.
I also knit an extra repeat vertically, because I knit with a slightly thinner needle.
For this shawl I use the beautiful yarns from the 2023 advent calendar from Crealien design, combined with an undyed skein.

Op 8 januari viel er sneeuw. De eerste van dit jaar.

Snow fell on January 8. The first of this year.

Op 14 januari viel er weer sneeuw, nog meer dan enkele dagen ervoor.

On January 14, snow fell again, even more than a few days before.

Op deze dag begon ook de amaryllis haar bloemen te showen en wat was ze mooi.

On this day the amaryllis also started to show its flowers and it was so beautiful.

Kay Jones is op hun youtube kanaal Bakery Bears begonnen met de Yarny Book Club. Een paar maanden lang verft ze garen met een boek in de hoofdrol en breit daarmee de Reading Corner cowl (ze legt ook uit hoe je hem breit).
Het eerste boek was En toen waren er nog maar ... van Agatha Christie. Ik heb dit vorig jaar gelezen. Ik pak garen uit mijn voorraad dat steeds op het boek lijkt.

Kay Jones has started the Yarny Book Club on their YouTube channel Bakery Bears. For a few months she dyes yarn with a book in the leading role and knits the Reading Corner cowl with it (she explains there how you can knit it).
The first book was And Then There Were None... by Agatha Christie. I read this last year. I take yarn from my stash that looks like the book.

Tussendoor was ik ook begonnen aan een paar scrappy sokken die ik breide met mini bolletjes van Opal. Gisteren heb ik de draadjes ingestopt.

In between I also started a pair of scrappy socks that I knitted with mini balls from Opal. Yesterday I sewed in all the ends.

Morgen begint Kay Jones ook met Valenvent (woordspeling op Valentijnsdag). 14 dagen lang kunnen we dan breien aan het Valenvent patroon wat ze aan de patrons geeft. Dit keer is het een das die gebreid gaat worden met 14 mini strengen en 1 contrast kleur.

Tomorrow Kay Jones also starts Valenvent (pun on Valentine's Day). We can then knit the Valenvent pattern for 14 days, which she gives to the patrons. This time it is a scarf that will be knitted with 14 mini skeins and 1 contrast color.

New shawl and blanket and update covid revalidation

Vier jaar geleden had ik een paar granny squares gehaakt met dit garen maar ze waren veel te los gehaakt. Twee weken terug heb ik alles uitgehaald en ben ik opnieuw begonnen.

Four years ago I had crocheted a few granny squares with this yarn but they were crocheted way too loosely. Two weeks ago I ripped everything out and started again.

Het garen dat ik gebruik is 3 cento van Lana Grossa in de kleuren 001, 003, 006 en 007.

Het patroon dat ik volg is een tutorial van de perfectly squares van Kay Jones van de Bakery Bears. Het verschil met een gewone granny square is dat je na elke toer je werk omkeert, zodat je granny square ook echt vierkant zijn.

The pattern I'm following is a tutorial of the perfectly squares by Kay Jones from the Bakery Bears. The difference with a regular granny square is that you turn your work after every round, so that your granny squares are really square.

De eerste 6 rijen zijn af (48 grannies). Van alle vier de kleuren is de bol nu bijna opgehaakt. Gelukkig heb ik 2 bollen per kleur. Voor de rand moet ik daarna iets anders verzinnen, want het blijkt dat dit garen nergens meer te krijgen is.

The first 6 rows are finished (48 grannies). The balls of all four colors are now almost finished. Luckily I have 2 balls per color. I have to come up with something else for the border, because it turns out that this yarn is nowhere to be found anymore.

Naast de Dust of Snow sjaal, waar inmiddels kleur 3 in zit, ben ik afgelopen zaterdag ook begonnen met de Lacy Business sjaal van Ambah O'Brien. Voor deze mooie lace sjaal gebruik ik 2 kleuren van Crealien Design. Als eerste de kleur Joy.

In addition to the Dust of Snow scarf, which now contains color 3, I also started the Lacy Business scarf from Ambah O'Brien last Saturday. For this beautiful lace scarf I use 2 colors from Crealien Design. First the color Joy.

Deze combineer ik met de Advent 2021 kleur, die ik bij haar advent kalender gekocht had. Ik was een paar sokken begonnen met deze streng, maar hij combineerde zo mooi met bovenstaande kleur dat ik de sok uitgetrokken heb.

I combine this with the Advent 2021 color, which I bought with her advent calendar. I had started a pair of socks with this skein, but it combined so beautifully with the above color that I ripped the sock out.

Het wordt een driehoeksjaal en de eerste naalden zijn al gebreid.

Afgelopen zaterdag kwamen ook nog een paar strengen van The Woolly Chicken uit Duitsland. In het echt zo mooi zachte kleuren. Ze had er ook een mooie stekenmarkeerder bijgedaan.

Last Saturday a few skeins of The Woolly Chicken also arrived from Germany. Really nice soft colors. She also added a nice stitch marker.

De 2e streng van links, Penny Peaches, ligt inmiddels klaar. Deze ga ik gebruiken voor de Lattice Topped socks van Kay Jones.

The 2nd skein from the left, Penny Peaches, is now ready. I'm going to use these for Kay Jones' Lattice Topped socks.

Voor de rest gaat hier alles zijn gangetje. De fysio komt nog steeds 3x per week aan huis. Het lijkt wel of de vooruitgang wat lopen betreft even stil staat. 's Morgens en in het begin van de middag gaat het lopen "redelijk", maar hoe later het op de dag wordt, hoe slechter het lopen gaat. Schijnbaar heeft het met de moeheid van het lichaam te maken.
De connectie tussen de hersenen en de gevoelszenuwen in de benen werken dan bijzonder slecht. Normaal verzet je je benen zonder na te denken, maar als ik me bv. wil omdraaien om te gaan lopen en ik denk niet bewust daarbij aan mijn benen, dan blijven mijn benen gewoon op de plaats staan. Dit is zo'n rare gewaarwording.
Ik moet echt bij elke stap mij focussen op mijn benen. Fietsen zit er nog steeds niet in, maar ik ga wel af en toe met Michiel mee boodschappen doen. Ik kan dan achter de winkelwagen lopen en me daaraan vasthouden. Een mens moet toch wat 😁.

Everything else runs smoothly here. The physio still comes at home 3 times a week. It seems that progress in walking has come to a standstill for a while. In the morning and early afternoon walking is "reasonable", but the later in the day it gets, the worse walking gets. Apparently it has to do with the fatigue of the body.
The connection between the brain and the sensory nerves in the legs then works particularly poorly. Normally you move your legs without thinking, but if I want to turn around to walk and I don't consciously think about my legs, my legs just stay in place. This is such an odd sensation.
I really have to focus on my legs with every step. Cycling is still not an option, but I will occasionally go shopping with Michiel. I can then walk behind the shopping cart and hold on to it. A person has to do something to get out of the house 😁

Advent day 13 and Happy birthday Lana

 
Vandaag 13 december wordt onze oudste kleindochter Lana 2 jaar. Het is zo'n heerlijk kind, een echt mensenkind dat geniet van iedereen. Vanmiddag gaan we naar haar toe, want een jarige verdiend een cadeau toch? Gefeliciteerd lieve Lana. Morgen zal ik een foto van de jarige posten.

Today December 13, our oldest granddaughter Lana turns 2 years old. She is such a wonderful child, a real human child who enjoys everyone. We are going to her this afternoon, because a birthday girl deserves a present, right? Congratulations dear Lana. Tomorrow I will post a picture of the birthday girl.

Advent day 11

 Vanmiddag heb ik kerstcadeau's ingepakt voor de kleindochters. Ik hou van tradities en vorig jaar ben ik daar al mee begonnen door elk van de kleindochters een nijntje kerstbal te geven (Loïs was toen nog niet geboren). Dit jaar krijgen ze weer iets voor in hun kerstboom, een houten hanger met hun naam erop. Daarnaast ga ik ze elk jaar een leesboek geven en als 3e cadeau iets van speelgoed, dit jaar krijgen ze elk een super leuke knuffel.

This afternoon I wrapped Christmas presents for the granddaughters. I like traditions and last year I started doing that by giving each of the granddaughters a Miffy bauble (Loïs was not yet born then). This year they get something for their Christmas tree again, a wooden hanger with their name on it. In addition, I will give them a reading book every year and as a 3rd gift something to play with, this year they each get a nice soft toy.

Advent day 9

Michiel bracht gisteren een rollator mee naar huis die ik 's avonds kan gebruiken om met hem mee te lopen als hij Mees uitlaat. Op deze manier kan ik toch naar buiten en bouw ik mijn conditie langzaam op. De rollator heb ik echt nodig omdat ik vaak mijn evenwicht nog niet kan houden.

Yesterday Michiel brought home a walker that I can use in the evening to walk with him when he takes Mees out for a walk. This way I can still go outside and slowly build up my condition. I really need the walker because I often still can't keep my balance.

Advent day 2

 De kerstmokken staan inmiddels in het keukenkastje en de gewone mokken zijn voor een paar weken naar boven verhuist. Buiten is het grijs en de regendruppels plakken op het raam. Waar blijft het winterse weer?

The Christmas mugs are now in the kitchen cupboard and the regular mugs have been moved upstairs for a few weeks. It is gray outside and the raindrops are sticking to the window. Where is the winter weather?

Gisteravond heerlijk kunnen breien terwijl ik weer veel verschillende vlogmassen keek op youtube. Er zijn best veel breisters die dat weer doen dit jaar.
Kleur 2 voor de Lamina wrap heet Santa's treat, een mooie donkere kleur.
Vanmiddag komt Nathalie voor de oedeem therapie. Ik heb geen idee wat ik me daarbij moet voorstellen.

Last night I was able to knit while watching many different vlogmas on youtube. There are quite a lot of knitters doing that again this year.
Color 2 for the Lamina wrap is called Santa's treat, a nice dark color.
This afternoon Nathalie comes for the edema therapy. I have no idea what to expect with that.

Nog even een berichtje aan Codelief die gisteren op mijn blog reageerde, ...je email is niet zichtbaar als je reageert dus ik kan je geen bericht terug sturen. Je kunt me voor een keer ook een email sturen met je emailadres (mijn adres staat aan de rechterkant) en dan gebruik ik dat steeds als ik een berichtje wil terug sturen.
