Bow ties, stars and hexagons

Februari is, tot dusver,  quiltmaand geworden. Ik heb nog geen breinaald aangeraakt. Dat komt wel weer, ik had nu gewoon zin om even met lapjes te spelen.

February has been quilting month so far. I haven't touched a knitting needle yet. That will come again, I just felt like playing with fabrics for a while.

Er werden heel veel strikjes voor de Dress code quilt van Susan Smith gemaakt. De meeste lapjes kwamen allemaal uit de doos met stofjes die ik een tijdje geleden van een hele lieve vriendin had gekregen.

Lots of bow ties were made for Susan Smith's Dress code quilt. Most of the fabrics all came from the box with fabrics that I had received from a very dear friend a while ago.

Daarna wilde ik gaan breien maar bij het wegleggen van de strikjes, zag ik de doos staan met de sterren en hexagons die ik ergens in 2020 al geknipt had. Het begon ineens te kriebelen, ik wilde er een paar in elkaar gaan zetten.

Then I wanted to start knitting, but when I put the bow ties away, I saw the box with the stars and hexagons that I had already cut somewhere in 2020. It suddenly started to itch, I wanted to put a few together.

Ik was zo vlijtig aan de gang dat mijn naald zelfs brak.

I was so industrious that my needle even broke.

Het bleef kriebelen en ik maakte nog veel meer sterretjes de afgelopen dagen.

I had so much joy and I made many more stars in the past few days.

Ik teken ze trouwens met de acryl templates die ik eens kocht bij Patch and Stitch. Petra Prins heeft ook de mallen voor deze quilt, daar heten ze Jane's Stars.

By the way, I draw them with the acrylic templates I once bought at Patch and Stitch. Petra Prins also has the templates for this quilt, there they are called Jane's Stars.

Ga ik de komende dagen nu breien? Ik denk het niet, ... ik ga nog even verder met de sterretjes. Afgelopen vrijdag was ook de startdatum voor "Geef een boek cadeau", dit gebeurd eenmaal per jaar. Ze hebben dan een bekend boek opnieuw gedrukt tegen een zeer lage prijs, 2,99 euro. Dit jaar is het Het achterhuis van Anne Frank. Ik kocht er gelijk een paar meer om cadeau te doen.

Am I going to start knitting  now? I don't think so, ... I'm going to make some more stars. Last Friday was also the start date for "Give a book", this happens once a year. They then reprinted a well-known book at a very low price, 2.99 euros. This year it is Anne Frank's Het achterhuis. I immediately bought a few more to give as gifts.

Nu ruim 3 maanden nadat ik covid positief getest was, krijg ik nog steeds 3x per week fysio aan huis. Mijn benen willen nog steeds niet en het evenwicht houden met lopen is nog vaak zo slecht dat ik nog steeds niet buiten kan fietsen.
Dus nu hebben we een hometrainer aangeschaft voor in huis, zodat ik toch aan mijn conditie kan werken en mijn benen wat sterker kunnen worden.

Now more than 3 months after I tested positive for covid, I still get physio at home 3 times a week. My legs still won't work and balancing with walking is often so bad that I still can't cycle outside.
So now I bought an exercise bike for the home, so that I can work on my condition and my legs can get stronger.

Dat was het weer voor nu, ik ga nog even wat sterretjes naaien.

We have a birthday

12 juni:

Elk jaar staat er een prentenboek in de schijnwerpers bij Geef een prentenboek cadeau voor een kleine prijs. Dit jaar is het Woeste Willem, over de vriendschap tussen een jongen en een mopperige zeerover.
Zojuist weer 3 boeken gekocht bij Bruna Nederweert, 1 voor mezelf en de andere 2 zijn voor de kleindochters, want ook meisjes lezen graag over zeerovers 😀 De volgende dag nog een 4e boek bij gehaald voor mijn petekind die het ook graag wilde.

June 12:

Every year there is a picture book in the spotlight at Give a picture book as a gift for a small price. This year it is Woeste Willem, about the friendship between a boy and a grumpy buccaneer.
Just bought 3 books again from our local bookstore, 1 for myself and the other 2 for the granddaughters, because girls also like to read about buccaneers 😀 The next day I bought a 4th book for my godchild who also wanted it.

13 juni:
Vandaag vierde kleindochter Lana haar halve verjaardag 😍.

15 juni:
Druk met het werken aan mijn quilt, maar ook het nieuwste sokken patroon van Kay van de Bakery Bears opgezet, de Fairy Wings sokken.

Busy with working on my quilt, but I also cast on the newest sock pattern from Kay of the Bakery Bears, the Fairy Wings socks.

Het garen is van Irish Fairytale Yarns in de prachtige kleur Wave. De paarse kleur Tangled gebruik ik voor de hiel.

The yarn is from Irish Fairytale Yarns in the beautiful color Wave. The purple color Tangled I'm going to use for the heel.

19 juni:
Mijn mei wolletje van de Warme Voeten club van Atelier Het Wolbeest was vorige week ook aangekomen. Thema dit jaar is Beatrix Potter. Erbij zat weer een mini streng, thee en iets van chocolade/caramel. Ook een stitchmarker van Chapel view crafts in de vorm van een aardbei. Deze maand is het Benjamin Wollepluis 😍.

June 19:

I recieved my May yarn from the Warme Voetenclub (warm feet club) from Atelier Het Wolbeest. Theme this year is Beatrix Potter. Also included is a mini skein, tea, caramel and a strawberry stitchmarker from Chapel view crafts. This month it is Benjamin Bunny 😍.

Ik kreeg ook een extra streng van haar om iets te breien voor kleindochter Yara. Dank je wel Alexandra.

I also get an extra skein from her, so I can knit something for my new granddaughter Yara. Thank you so much Alexandra.

Het was ook heerlijk weer om buiten in de tuin te zitten. Er bloeit weer zoveel in de tuin.

It also was wonderful weather to sit outside on the garden. So much is blooming in the garden again.

26 juni:
Nog een paar besjes appliceren, ondertussen kijkend naar de Bakery Bears en dan is deze border ook af.

Gisteren kreeg ik ook Beatrix Potter's gardening life boek binnen en er staan mooie verhalen in, ook prachtige foto's en tekeningen.

I also got my Beatrix Potter's gardening life book and it a joy to read and looking at all thise beautiful pictures.

30 juni:
Vandaag is Bowy 15 jaar geworden. Afgelopen november was hij zo ziek dat we niet dachten dat hij deze verjaardag zou halen, maar hij is blijkbaar een sterke kerel. Hij ziet slecht, is stokdoof en slaapt erg veel, maar toch huppelt hij nog steeds vrolijk mee als we een rondje met hem lopen.

June 30:
Bowy turned 15 today. Last November, he was so sick that we didn't think he would make it to this birthday, but apparently he's a strong guy. He has poor vision, is deaf and sleeps a lot, but he still loves to walk.

Socks and quilting

Mijn Short and sweet socks van Kay van de Bakery bears, die zij ontworpen heeft voor haar Knitting University, zijn af. Deze cursus wordt gegeven via hun patreon website. Dit was een sokpatroon dat gebreid ging worden op rondbreinaalden.

My Short and sweet socks from Kay of the Bakery Bears, designed for her Knitting University, are finished. This course is giving through their patreon website. This sock pattern had to be knit on a circular needle.

Het garen is van Piratenwolle in de kleur peach. Ik gebruikte 55 gram en heb ze gebreid op rondbreinaald 2.25 mm.

The yarn is from Piratenwolle in the color peach. I used 55 grams and I knit them on circular neelde 2.25 mm.

Begin juni had ik ook alle vissen zijn geappliceerd  van de A day at the park quilt van Susan Smith.

At the beginning of June I had appliqued all the fishes on the A day at the park quilt from Susan Smith.

Voor de volgende rand van de A day at the park quilt van Susan Smith moest ik ruim 6 meter  bias maken.

For the next border of the A day at the park quilt from Susan Smith I had to made  about 250 inches of bias.

En daarna moesten er 51 besjes gemaakt worden.

And then I had to make 51 berries.

Toen de 3 volgende randen aan het middenstuk genaaid.

Then I sewed the next 3 borders onto the middle part.

En nu volop bezig met het appliceren van de meters bias en besjes.

And now I'm busy with applique all the bias and berries.

De streng van juni van Piratenwolle is binnen gekomen, dit is van mijn jaarabonnement. De kleur Flieterblutte is prachtig.

My skein for June from Piratenwolle is arrived. This is from the year abo. I love the color Fliederblute.

Ik had 3 stitchmarkers besteld bij Sew Sweet Violet in Engeland. Deze stonden al enige tijd op mijn verlanglijstje.

I had ordered 3 stitchmarkers at Sew Sweet Violet in England. I had my eye on these for quit some time.

Dan nog een paar foto's van kleindochter Lana uit Engeland die bijna een half jaar is. Dit kind lacht bijna altijd. Wat hou ik van haar 💗

Knitting and quilting

Wat vliegt de tijd toch als het zo mooi weer is buiten. Ik zou nog vergeten om mijn blog bij te houden. Was ik op 17 juni nog volop bezig met de rand van de Sea Gleam sjaal van Helen Stewart ...

Time flies when the weather is so nice outside. I would almost forget to keep up with my blog. On June 17 I still was busy with the border of the Sea Gleam shawl by Helen Stewart  ...

De volgende dag kon ik de steken al afkanten. Toen bleef de sjaal even liggen, maar inmiddels heb ik hem gewassen en hij ligt nu te drogen. Foto volgt nog.

The next day I could bind off the stitches. Then the shawl remained still for a while, but now I have washed it and it is drying. Will post a picture soon.

Daarna ging ik verder met sectie 3 van de Suburban wrap van Joji Knits. Het mooie garen is van Marianthi yarns. De kleuren heten Desert Rose (de lichte), Wonderland (veel kleurige) en Terracotta (roodachtige).

After that I continued with section 3 of the Suburban wrap from Joji Knits. The beautiful yarn is from Marianthi yarns. The colors are called Desert Rose (the lightest), Wonderland (multi color) and Terracotta (the red one).

We hadden ook nog een jarige die van tevoren in bad moest. Hij houdt daar helemaal niet van en nadien keek hij me aan met een blik van: ik vind je niet lief.

We also had a birthday boy but before that he needed a bath. He does not like that and After the bath he looked at me if he would say: you are not nice.

En op 30 juni werd deze knappe jongen 14 jaar. Hij was erg blij met zijn 2 nieuwe tennisballen.

And on June 30 this handsome boy had his 14th birthday. He was very happy with his 2 new tennis balls.

Een paar dagen geleden maakte ik met Bowy een wandeling en kijk eens wat een prachtige planten je dan tegen komt.

A few days back Bowy and I went for a walk and look how many beautiful plants we saw beside the road.

Zaterdag had ik zin om met iets nieuws te beginnen, even iets tussendoor maken, dus pakte ik een gedeelte van mijn rozenstoffen en begon grote vingerhoedjes te snijden. De maat is boven 3", beneden 5" en de hoogte is ook 5". Als ik goed getelt heb, dan heb ik er 418 nodig. Zaterdagavond waren er al 60 gesneden. Tussendoor kijk ik dan naar de dagelijkse July vlog van Sew Sweet Violet op Youtube.

Saturday I felt like starting something new, so I took some of my rose quilt fabrics and started with cutting out big thimbles. The size is top 3", bottom 5" and high is also 5". If I counted correct I need 418. Before I went to bed I already cut out 60 thimbles. While cutting I look to the daily July vlogs from Sew Sweet Violet on Youtube.

Gisteren: zondagavond, tijd voor iets lekkers: een paar kleine stukjes zeezout caramel chocolade. Intussen zijn er 182 vingerhoedjes voor mijn Rose garden quilt gesneden.

Yesterday: Sunday evening, time for a treat: a few tiny pieces of Sea salted caramel chocolate. In the meantime my total of cutted thimbles are 182 for my Rose garden quilt.
