Natures Journey finished

Het natuur avontuur (Natures Journey) dat begon op 24 maart 2015 is afgelopen. De laatste steekjes zijn gemaakt en de top staat helemaal in elkaar.

My Natures Journey that started as a journey on march 24 is finished. The last stitches are made and the quilt top is ready.

Natures Journey is een patroon van Hatched and Patched, dat ik kocht bij De Quiltster.

Natures Journey is a pattern from Hatched and Patched, which I bought at De Quiltster.

Op bovenstaande foto lijken de kleuren wat flets, maar in het echt zijn ze voller van kleur. De maat van deze quilt is 146 x 154 cm.

On the picture above the colors look a little pale, but in real they are more brighter. The size of the quilt is 57.5" x60.5"

Ik werkte aan de quilt van 24 maart t/m 6 mei, daarna moest ik even stoppen vanwege een wondje aan mijn vinger. Op 27 mei pakte ik hem weer op en de laatste steekjes werden gemaakt op 10 juni. Dit betekend dat ik er 8 weken en 3 dagen aan gewerkt heb oftewel 59 dagen.

I worked on the quilt from march 24 till may 6 and then I had to stop, because I had a little wound on my finger. On may 27 I started again and worked till june 10 when I made the last stitches. This means I worked on this quilt in total 8 weeks and 3 days or you can say 59 days.

Natuurlijk zijn niet echt de laatste steekjes gezet, want ik moet hem nog helemaal doorquilten. Volgende week ga ik hem dubbelen, zodat ik hiermee kan beginnen.

Ofcourse I didn't make the very last stitches yet, because I still have to quilt it. Basting the quilt I'm going to do next week, so I can start quilting.

Little square border

Gistermiddag was ik nog druk bezig met de kleine vierkantjes rand aan de Natures Journey te naaien, ...

Yesterday afternoon I still was busy with sewing the small square border onto the Natures Journey, ...

maar inmiddels staan alle vier de randen eraan. De volgende, tevens laatste rand, is er een met de roze stofjes die ook in het midden van de quilt zitten.

but now they are all sewed on. The next and final border is one with the pink fabrics that are seen in the middle of the quilt.

Making the next border

Drie weken heeft hij stil gelegen, de Natures Journey van Hatched and Patched. Door een wondje aan mijn vinger, ging het patchen niet zo goed. Maar gelukkig is het nu genezen en kon ik de kleine vierkantjes voor de volgende border aan elkaar zetten. De komende dagen ga ik ze aan de quilt naaien.

Three weeks I didn't work on the Natures Journey from Hatched and Patched. I had a little wound on my finger and I couldn't patch. But luckily it health and I could sew all those little squares together for the next border. In the coming days I'm going to sew them onto the quilt.

De vijver kleurt momenteel paars, ... de irissen staan volop in bloei.

The pond is coloring purple, ... the irises are blooming.

Ook de steenanjers zorgen voor kleur in de tuin.

Also the dianthus brings color to the garden.

Bottom applique border

De onderste applicatie rand heeft links and rechts op het uiteinde een blok zitten, dat bestaat uit een rondje gemaakt van scraplapjes. 

The bottom applique border has on the left and right at the end a block that contains a circle of scraps.

Persoonlijk vond ik die niet mooi en ik koos daarom voor 2 andere blokken die op de uiteinden zitten van de bovenste applicatie rand, de hexagon bloem en de ster.

Personally I didn't liked those blocks and that's why I choose 2 other blocks that are on the end of the top applique border, the hexagon flower and the star.

Om ze ook een scrappy uiterlijk te geven, maakte ik ze van allemaal verschillende stofjes, zodat ze er toch anders uit zien dan die van de bovenste applicatie rand.

To give them a scrappy look I made them with different fabrics, so they look totaly different than the ones from the top applique border.

Dit waren de laatste blokken voor de onderste rand en dus kon de hele rij aan de quilt gezet worden. Er komen nu nog 2 randen rondom en dan is de quilt klaar.

These where the last blocks for the bottom border and so I could sew them onto the quilt. Only 2 borders goes around the quilt and then it is finished.

Afgelopen dinsdag zijn we ook naar Patch and Stitch geweest. Daar kocht ik alvast de tussenvulling (100% katoen) en de achterkant stof, zodat ik meteen met doorquilten kan beginnen als hij helemaal af is. Ook kocht ik nog een paar stofjes die ik nog niet had.

Last tuesday we went to Patch and Stitch. I bought there the batting (100% cotton) and the fabric for the back, so I can start quilting when the quilt is finished. I also bought some fabrics I didn't have.

Top applique border

De laatste 7 blokjes voor de bovenste applicatie rand waren ook zo af, ...

The last 7 blocks for the top applique border were done in no-time, ...

... en daardoor kon ik alle 14 blokjes weer aan de quilt zetten. Nog 1 applicatie rand te gaan ;-)

... and then I could sew all 14 blocks onto the quilt. Just 1 applique border to go ;-)

De blokjes voor de onderste applicatie rand liggen inmiddels klaar om geappliceerd te worden.

The blocks for the applique border at the bottom are ready to be applique.

7 ready, 7 to go . . .

De eerste 7 blokjes van de bovenste applicatie rand zijn klaar. In totaal moeten er 14 gemaakt worden, dus nog 7 te gaan.

The first 7 blocks are made for the upper applique border. In total I have to make 14 blocks, so still 7 to go.

Als het geregend heeft, dan kun je altijd mooie foto's maken in de tuin. De regendruppels, die op de planten liggen, lijken dan net steentjes van glas.

When it has rain, you can always make wonderful pictures in the garden. The raindrops that are lying on the leaves, just look as stones of glass.

Third border and in the garden

Voor de 3e applique rand, die bovenaan komt, zijn de rondjes en vierkantjes weer geborduurd met kruissteekjes. Klaar om geappliceerd te worden.

For the third border, that comes at the top, I stitched the circles and squares again with cross stitches. They are ready to applique.

In de tuin begint er weer van alles te bloeien, rondom de vijver spat het geel en wit je tegemoet.

In the garden a lot begins to bloom, around the pond the colors yellow and white are everywhere.

Maar niet alleen rondom de vijver is het feest, ook de andere planten in de tuin beginnen hun kleur te laten zien.

But not alone around the pond it is a feast, the other plants in the garden are beginning to show their colors.

Right applique border

Eergisteren kreeg ik de laatste 5 blokjes af voor de rechterkant van Natures Journey.

The day before yesterday I finished the last 5 blocks for the right side of the Natures Journey.

En gisteren heb ik alle 11 blokjes er meteen aangezet.

And yesterday I sewed all the 11 blocks onto the quilt.

Nu verder met de bovenste applicatie rand.

Now I can continue with the upper applique border.

One month ago ...

Precies 1 maand geleden begon ik met Natures Journey, een quilt patroon van Hatched and Patched, en elke dag heb ik er met veel plezier aan gewerkt. Zojuist de quilt eens uitgelegd in de zon op het gras zoals hij er nu uit ziet.

Exactly one month ago I started with the Natures Journey, a pattern from Hatched and Patched, and each day I worked on it with a lot of fun. Just now I put it in the sun on the grass to make a picture of how it looks now.

Ik heb zeker niet stilgezeten in de tussentijd en de eerste 6 blokjes die aan de rechterkant komen, zijn  inmiddels weer af. 

I didn't sit still in the meantime and the first 6 blocks for the right side, are finished again.

 

Ready for the next border

Afgelopen maandag, toen het zonnetje zo heerlijk scheen, heb ik buiten de blokjes voor de linkerkant aan de quilt gezet. Michiel was in die tijd druk bezig om een tuintafel in elkaar te timmeren.

Last monday, when the sun was shining, I was sitting outside sewing the blocks for the left side, onto the quilt. Michiel in the meantime was making a gardentable.

Daarna kon ik de blokjes, die aan de rechterkant komen, voorzien van kruissteekjes. Nu nog de applicaties erop maken.

Then I could begin with the cross stitches on the blocks for the right side. They are done and now I can put the appliques on.

Michiel heeft ondertussen ook de tuintafel af, die nu onder het kamerraam staat. Er komen potten met bloemen op te staan.

Michiel has finished the gardentable, that stands under the livingroom window. I'm going to put some pots with flowers on it.

En Bowy ? ... Die ligt gewoon heerlijk te zonnen ;-)

And Bowy ? ... He is just sun bading ;-)
