Ollivander shawl

This shawl I also made for the Halloween KAL, organized on Ravelry by Nordic Stitches (click). Mr. Ollivander has the shop were Harry Potter finds his wand.

(75% merino - 25% nylon)
Skein is 100 gr. (420 m/460 yards)
Used color Hallows Eve 64 gr. (269 m/294 yards)
Used color Amethyst 59 gr. (248 m/271 yards)

Both skeins were each 100 gram (420 m.) and I had 77 gram left over in total. That means that I used 123 gram (517 m.) for this shawl.  Under the first picture you can read how much I used of each color.

Phobia shawl

On Ravelry a Halloween KAL started on September 1 in the Nordic Stitches group (click). It runs till October 31. I made the Phobia shawl for this KAL.

Although one of the yarns is merino with nylon and the other is 100 % merino, they work perfect together. The orange yarn is also suitable for knitting socks because of the nylon.

The orange skein was 100 gram (420 m.) and I had 49 gram left over. That means that I used 214 m. in this shawl.  The brown skein was also 100 gram but has 400. I had 36 gram left over and I used 255 m.

Delightful yarn to knit with and it feels so super soft. I bought this skein at Het Breipunt (click).

The sun is shining

Yesterday we had a wonderful day, the sun was shining and we enjoyed being in our garden.

Several plants are already blooming, but the most I enjoy those little violets, that pop-up on many places in the garden.

Then now a brief explanation of the solstice:
The solstice is the event where the sun, seen from the earth, reaches the northernmost or southernmost position. As the sun is moving towards the Tropic of Cancer, the days on the northern hemisphere become longer and on the southern hemisphere are shorter. When the sun moves apparently to the Tropic of Capricorn, this is the other way.
The solstice is the moment when the sun is exactly above the tropics. There is be a summer and winter solstice. In the northern hemisphere they occur in June (usually June 21) and in December (usually December 21), in the southern hemisphere, that is the other way around.

Why this explanation? Because Catherine Knutsson from The Small Bird Workshop, The Sunlight of Solstice is running as a KAL on Ravelry (click to go to the pattern). I had still a skein Fino from Manos del Uruguay in my stash with a golden color and I thought that would be perfect for it.

I already have knit a piece and it is going well. I always enjoy knitting a lace pattern.
