Cross stitching sheep

Naast de quiltsampler ben ik ook verder gegaan met de Little Sheep virtues van Little House Needleworks. Er waren pas 5 patroontjes geborduurd (ergens gestart in 2013) en inmiddels staat patroontje 6 er ook op.

Besides the quilt sampler I also continued with the Little Sheep virtues of Little House Needleworks. There were only 5 patterns stitched (started somewhere in 2013) and now pattern 6 is also on there.

In totaal zijn het 12 patroontjes die ik op 1 lap borduur. Ik heb de eerste 5 schaapjes uitgehaald (ze waren geborduurd met chenille garen en het was niet mooi meer) en toen opnieuw geboruurd met DMC.

In total there are 12 patterns that I stitch on 1 piece of fabric. I frogged out the first 5 sheep (they were stitched with chenille yarn and it wasn't pretty anymore) and then re-stitched them with DMC.

Vorige week werd onze jongste kleindochter Loïs alweer 4 jaar. Afgelopen zondag hebben we het samen gevierd.

Last week our youngest granddaughter Loïs turned 4 years old. Last Sunday we celebrated it together.

Tot slot kwamen ook de maart mini strengen binnen van Mooike, ze laat steeds een inspiratie foto zien zodat je een beetje weet welke kleuren je kunt verwachten.

De afgelopen dagen hadden wij prachtig weer en kon je regelmatig buiten zitten maar vanaf vandaag is het weer een heel stuk kouder.

Hello 2025

Wat was 2024 weer een jaar van up en downs. Met de downs bedoel ik dan weer de vele ziekenhuis bezoeken, het uitzoeken waarom ik steeds een ijzertekort heb, het zoeken naar het goede medicijn voor de neuropathie. In januari ga ik verder met de ziekenhuis bezoeken, voor de 27e staat weer een coloscopie en gastroscopie ivm het ijzertekort. Hopelijk krijg ik nu iets meer duidelijkheid hierover.

2024 was another year of ups and downs. By the downs I mean the many hospital visits, finding out why I keep having an iron deficiency, the search for the right medicine for the neuropathy. In January I will continue with hospital visits, on the 27th there will be another colonoscopy and gastroscopy due to the iron deficiency. Hopefully I get a little more clarity about this now.

Maar wat waren er ook weer veel mooie momenten het afgelopen jaar. Teveel om op te noemen.
Michiel kon zich dit najaar uitleven in de tuin, de vijver werd afgebroken en de vele maaskeien werden opgehaald.

But there were also many wonderful moments last year. Too many to mention.
Michiel was able to enjoy himself in the garden this autumn, the pond was demolished and the many stones were collected.

Niet zo leuk was dat de 3 bomen in de tuin, de prunus, de meidoorn en de krentenboom eruit moesten. Ze waren aan het rotten, de bodem bleef nat door al de vele regens die we hebben gehad. In het voorjaar gaan we de tuin aanpakken, er komt een iets kleinere vijver, gazon en veel planten en bloemen.

It was not so nice that the 3 trees in the garden, the prunus, the hawthorn and the currant tree, had to be removed. They were rotting, the ground remained wet from all the rain we had. In the spring we will tackle the garden, there will be a slightly smaller pond, lawn and many plants and flowers.

Verder is het enorm genieten van onze Mees die alweer 4 jaar geworden is. Hij geniet van de lange wandelingen om daarna heerlijk weg te dromen in zijn mand.

Furthermore, we really enjoy our Mees, who has already turned 4 years old. He enjoys the long walks and then dreaming away in his basket.

en natuurlijk genieten we ook enorm van de kleindochters. Het worden al echte meiden.

and of course we also enjoy the granddaughters immensely. They are already becoming real girls.

Heb ik nog voornemens voor dit jaar? Normaal gesproken niet, maar nu heb ik toch met mezelf afgesproken dat ik weer meer tijd ga steken in dit blog en dat ik naast breien ook weer iets meer met lapjes ga doen (quilten). Uiteraard blijf ik sokken breien want dat vind ik toch wel enorm leuk. Hier mijn stapel met gebreide sokken van het afgelopen jaar (morgen een overzicht van alle gemaakte projecten in 2024).

Do I have any resolutions for this year? Normally not, but now I have agreed with myself that I will put more time into this blog and that in addition to knitting, I will also do more with fabric (quilting). Of course I will continue to knit socks because I really enjoy that. Here is my pile of knitted socks from the past year (tomorrow an overview of all projects completed in 2024).

Socks for granddaughters

De kerstdagen zijn heel gezellig verlopen. Eerste kerstdag hebben we door gebracht met zoon en dochter en hun gezinnen in het huis van mijn dochter.Ze had voor de 3 meiden een etagere met allerlei lekkers erop neergezet.

The Christmas holidays went very pleasantly. We spent Christmas Day with our son and daughter and their families in my daughter's house. She had placed a tiered display with all kinds of sweets on it for the 3 girls.

Je snapt wel dat ze dat heel lekker vonden.

You can imagine that they really liked that.

Na al dat snoepen werd er ook volop gespeeld, Lana en Yara liepen rond met hun mooiste juwelen

Schoonzoon Kyle en onze dochter hadden een Engels diner gemaakt. Dit bestond dan uit een biefrollade, 2 verschillende kiprollades, veel groenten zoals wortel met pastinaak, spruitjes met spekjes,bloemkool en broccoli, witte kool, aardappelpuree en geroosterde aardappels, heerlijke jus, 2 soorten stuffing (dit zijn kruidenballetjes, de een was met salie en de ander was met cranberries) en Yorkshire pudding (foto van internet, ik was vergeten foto's te maken). De tafel stond bomvol en bijna alles is opgegeten.

Son-in-law Kyle and our daughter had made an English dinner. This consisted of a beef roulade, 2 different chicken roulades, many vegetables such as carrot with parsnips, Brussels sprouts with bacon, cauliflower and broccoli, white cabbage, mashed and roasted potatoes, delicious gravy, 2 types of stuffing (these are herb balls, one was with sage and the other was with cranberries) and Yorkshire pudding (photo from the internet, I forgot to take pictures). The table was packed and almost everything was eaten.

Als toetje hadden we IJstaart d’arancio- & vanille ijs (Sinaasappelijs met pure chocolade gecombineerd met klassieke vanille) en die was me toch lekker.

For dessert we had ice cream cake d'arancio & vanilla ice cream (orange ice cream with dark chocolate combined with classic vanilla) and it was delicious.

 

Ik had voor de 3 kleindochters ook sokken gebreid. Het garen dat ik gebruikt had was van Flotte Socke Melody in de kleuren 3020, 3023 en 3024. De maat was van alle drie 26/27 want ze hebben nagenoeg dezelfde maat.

I also knitted socks for the 3 granddaughters. The yarn I used was from Flotte Socke Melody in the colors 3020, 3023 and 3024. The size of all three was EU 26/27 because they are almost the same size.

 

Ze konden niet wachten om ze aan te trekken en ze hebben ze verder ook de hele dag aangehad. Hier op rij van links naar rechts Loïs, Yara en Lana.

Twee weken geleden kwamen ook deze 2 strengen binnen van Crealien Design.

En net voor kerst kwam het januari pakket binnen van S7ors. Een streng van 50 gram en 5 mini's van 20 gram met een paar extra dingen.

Preview advent calendars

Zoals belooft heb ik hier een overzicht van de advent kalenders die ik allemaal heb en ja, ... het zijn er veel dit jaar. Twee ervan waren een last minute aanschaf toen ik zag dat deze verfsters nog enkele pakketten over hadden. Bovendien was 2024 een behoorlijk rot jaar qua gezondheid. Ik kan niet meer op mijn hand tellen hoeveel ziekenhuis bezoeken ik gehad heb dit jaar (daarover op het einde van dit bericht nog een kort verslag) en van advent kalenders wordt ik blij 💖

As promised, here is an overview of the advent calendars I have and yes, there are a lot of them this year. Two of them were a last minute purchase when I saw that these dyers still had a few packages left. Plus, 2024 was a pretty shitty year health-wise. I can no longer count on my hand how many hospital visits I have had this year (a short report on that at the end of this post) and Advent calendars make me happy 💖

Verder heb ik ook de geborduurde advent zakjes gevuld met verschillende chocolaatjes, 2 per zakje, want deze openen Michiel en ik samen 's avonds als we ons kopje thee uit de tweepersoons thee kalender van Frogcoffee drinken. I also have two packages for Advent Sundays, one from Atelier Sopra and one from Piratenwolle from Germany. Forgot to take a picture of this but you can see the skeins when I unwrap these each Sunday.
I also filled the embroidered Advent bags with different chocolates, 2 per bag, because Michiel and I open these together in the evening when we drink our cup of tea from the double tea calendar from Frogcoffee. In the meantime, we will have fun every day with this escape room game.

Bovenste rij: Bio snacks van My Buddy en de rechtse is een oude verpakking van Bio DM die je nu kon vullen met losse advent bio snacks van DM.
Onderste rij is links de kalender voor Mees en rechts de Bonne Maman kalender die ik twee jaar geleden ook had.
Daarnaast heb ik nog de DM en Cupper thee kalender zoals elk jaar en de Yogi kalender die ik voor mijn verjaardag van de kinderen kreeg. Genoeg thee weer, heerlijk !

Afgelopen zaterdag waren wij ook naar The Log Cabin geweest die een kerstmarkt had op de binnenplaats. Er stond een meneer die allemaal verschillende dingen maakte van hout, veel kersthangers maar ook deze kleine paddenstoelen op een berkstammetje, ik was meteen verliefd en het mocht mee naar huis.

Vriendin Elly stond er ook met allerlei maaksels en we kochten de sneeuwpop en de chipmunk. Het beertje kregen we cadeau van haar als kerstcadeautje.

Last Saturday we also went to The Log Cabin which had a Christmas market in the courtyard. There was a gentleman who made all kinds of different things out of wood, lots of Christmas hangers but also these little mushrooms on a birch trunk, I immediately fell in love and was allowed to take it home.
Friend Elly was also there with all kinds of crafts and we bought the snowman and the chipmunk. We received the bear from her as a Christmas present.

Ook kocht ik twee soorten kerststof, hiervan maakte ik de volgende dag een project tasje. Deze gebruik ik voor het advent project van de Bakery Bears dat over een paar dagen begint. Ze geven ons (de patrons) weer 24 advent video's, elke dag genieten. Het thema dit jaar is Country Christmas en Kay leest voor uit het boek Classic Christmas Stories van Louisa May Alcott.
De twee strengen garens die ik gebruik zijn uit mijn voorraad en zijn van Herbstblatt Regina.

I also bought two types of Christmas fabric, which I used to make a project bag the next day. I'm using this for the Bakery Bears' Advent project that starts in a few days. They give us (the patrons) 24 Advent videos again, to enjoy every day. The theme this year is Country Christmas and Kay will read from the book Classic Christmas Stories by Louisa May Alcott.

Omdat mijn lijf momenteel niet echt meewerkt heeft Michiel de tuintafel dit jaar versierd. Het ziet er weer zo gezellig uit, vooral 's avonds als de kaarsjes en lichtjes aangaan.

Because my body is not really cooperating at the moment, Michiel decorated the garden table this year. It looks so cozy again, especially in the evening when the candles and little lights come on.

Ik moet nog een paar naalden breien aan het laatste kindersokje en dan zijn de sokjes af voor de kleindochters die ik met kerst geef. Loïs (3), de jongste kleindochter, vroeg van de week of ik dekentjes kon maken voor haar poppenhuis stapelbed. Dus ik heb tussendoor al een dekentje gehaakt. De andere haak ik komende week. Ze was er helemaal blij mee toen ik het gisteren gaf.

Gisteren kwam ook het december garen pakketje van S7ors binnen. Ik had dit keer de 5 mini strengen met de 50 grams streng. De kleuren zijn weer schitterend.

Afgelopen week was ik voor de zoveelste keer op controle bij de mdl arts en hij zag dat het ijzer tekort weer steeds groter wordt. Begin van het jaar had ik ook al een ijzerinfuus nodig. Ik krijg aankomende dinsdag opnieuw een ijzerinfuus en op 27 januari krijg ik opnieuw een endoscopie en een gastroscopie die hij tegelijkertijd uitvoert. Hij wil nogmaals kijken of er nergens oppervlakkige adertjes zijn die  bloedingen kunnen veroorzaken, waardoor ik een ijzertekort blijf houden. Ook 2025 begint dus weer met ziekenhuis bezoeken 😌.

En voor ik het vergeet ... mocht iemand toch willen klagen over dat ik teveel advent kalenders heb, schrijf gerust een reactie, ik lees ze met een glimlach.

Last week I had a check-up with the gastroenterologist for the umpteenth time and he saw that the iron deficiency is increasing again. At the beginning of the year I also needed an iron infusion. He wants to check again whether there are any superficial veins that could cause bleeding, which would cause me to continue to have an iron deficiency. So 2025 will also start with hospital visits again 😌.

Forest walk with the grandchildren and birthday

Vandaag mag ik 62 kaarsjes uitblazen. De kinderen en kleinkinderen komen vanmiddag op bezoek.

Daarom vandaag een bericht over de mooie boswandeling die we 2 weken geleden maakte met onze dochter en haar gezin. Dankzij de rollator en vele rust pauzes kon ik ook mee.

Er werd gekeken of er kikkers in het water zaten. Helaas konden ze er geen vinden maar later tijdens het wandelen kwamen we er een aantal tegen die op het bospad zaten.

Tijdens de wandeling werden er regelmatig eikels opgeraapt en mooie bladeren die ze meenamen.

Tussendoor werd er ook even gespeeld en opeens riep Lana: "the floor is lava" 😀

Na afloop wat lekkers, Loïs koos voor een appel en Lana voor 2 wortels.

Gisteren waren we ook weer terug geweest naar Maastricht voor de uitslag van de mri. Onderweg was ik begonnen met mijn verjaardags sokken.

Yesterday we also went back to Maastricht for the resultst of the mri. On the way I started with my birthday socks.

Ik kreeg goed nieuws, de rest tumoren die nog bij de ruggenwervel zitten zijn stabiel gebleven, dus ik hoef pas over 1jaar terug.

Op mijn verzoek mag ik dan in mijn eigen ziekenhuis de mri laten doen en controle neuroloog. Scheelt toch een autorit van bijna 1 uur.
De pijn tussen de schouderbladen blijft helaas, daar is niets aan te doen. Er is in dat gebied bij de ruggenwervel teveel gebeurd zei hij. Advies is om met de huisarts te overleggen voor een pijnstiller.

En gisteren haakte ik ook de laatste kleur aan mijn linnen stitch deken. Nu nog even alle draadjes in stoppen.

Wat staat verder op de planning voor november? Ik wil mijn verjaardags sokken afmaken en ook voor alle drie de kleindochters een paar sokken breien.
