Quick (long) update

Elke keer weer neem ik me voor om niet zo lang te wachten met het schrijven van een nieuw bericht, maar voor ik het weet zijn er weer weken voorbij gevlogen. Soms denk ik weleens, moet ik wel doorgaan met mijn blog als het schijnbaar zoveel moeite kost, maar ik schrijf hier al vanaf 2006 en ik wil er niet mee stoppen.
Ik kijk zelf nog zo vaak op mijn blog als ik weer eens iets terug moet zoeken, dus nee ... ik stop niet met dit blog ook al duurt het soms weken voor ik een update plaats. Ja Mees, ik zou er ook moe van worden.

Every time I resolve not to wait that long before writing a new post, but before I know it, weeks have flown by. Sometimes I think, should I continue with my blog if it apparently takes so much effort, but I have been writing here since 2006 and I don't want to stop.
I still look at my blog so often when I have to look up something, so no ... I will not stop this blog, even though it sometimes takes weeks before I post an update. Yes Mees, it would make me tired too.

Na het laatste bericht heb ik 5 paar sokken gebreid en ik heb ze even op een rijtje gezet.
De nieuwste serie van Opal is de Regenwald 20 jarig jubileum. Dat betekent 20 jaar de regenwoud serie en om dat te vieren heeft Opal 16 kleuren gekozen uit de meest populaire kleuren van voorbij gaande jaren.

After the last post I knitted 5 pairs of socks and I here they are..
The latest series from Opal is the Rainforest 20th anniversary. That means 20 years of the rainforest series and to celebrate, Opal has chosen 16 colors from the most popular colors over the years.

Ik heb ze verdeelt in 2 groepen en heb de eerste 8 bollen opgedraait tot cakes (zo kan ik voelen of er knoopjes in het garen zitten).Voordat ik met elke kleur een paar sokken ga breien, brei ik eerst een paar scrappy sokken met deze 8 kleuren. De kleuren zijn: 4004, 5145, 8460, 8467, 8972, 9622, 9770 en 9777.

I divided them into 2 groups and wind the first 8 balls into cakes (this way I can feel if there are knots in the yarn). Before I knit a pair of socks with each color, I first knit a pair of scrappy socks with these 8 colors. The colors are: 4004, 5145, 8460, 8467, 8972, 9622, 9770 and 9777.

De Waffle socks, een patroon dat eigenlijk bedoeld was voor DK garen maar ik heb ze gebreid met gewoon sokkengaren. Het patroon is van kay Jones, het 4e platium patroon voor patrons.

De Spring Shorty socks, ze zijn gebreid met het garen van The Woolly Chicken in de kleur Goudvink (bullfinch) uit haar maandelijkse vogel serie.

The Spring Shorty socks are knitted with yarn from The Woolly Chicken in the color Bullfinch from her monthly bird series.

 

Sockoween begon ook weer op 1 oktober, dit wordt elke jaar georganiseerd door de Bakaery Bears voor hun patrons.
Mijn eerste paar was de Incantation socks van Kay Jones. Het garen was van Nicole C. Mendez in de kleur Happy Halloween.

Als tweede paar voor Sockoween gebruikte ik de mini strengen uit de oktober yarn club van s7ors. Ik noem ze mijn Autumn Ghost sokken, want het grijs is het spook tussen de herfstkleuren.

As a second pair for Sockoween I use the mini skeins from the October yarn club from s7ors. I call them my Autumn Ghost socks, because the gray is the ghost between the autumn colors.

 

 

Op 18 oktober waren we op weg naar Maastricht voor mijn jaarlijkse MRI, met op de naald mijn 3e sok voor Sockoween (op 1 november weer terug voor de uitslag).

On October 18 we were on our way to Maastricht for my annual MRI, with my 3rd sock for Sockoween on the needle (and back on November 1 for the resultst).

 

Dit zijn de Fairground sokken geworden, een patroon van Kay Jones.

Het prachtige halloween zelfstrepend garen is van Crealien design  en  heet Sweet 'n Spooky. Ik had gekozen voor de gold sparkle streng.

The beautiful Halloween self-striping yarn is from Crealien design and is called Sweet 'n Spooky. I choose the gold sparkle skein.

 

Naast sjaals vind ik cols ook fijn om te dragen dus daar werd ook aan gewerkt.
Het vijfde boek voor de Reading Corner cowl was The Christmas Holiday van Phillipa Ashley.
Kay had dit keer 2 kleuren geverfd, een in een traditionele kleur en een in een moderne kerstkleur. Ik had nog een kleur liggen van Little Bishes Stitches in de kleur Merry & Bright die er perfect bij paste.

In addition to shawls, I also like to wear cowls, so that was also worked on.
The fifth book for the Reading Corner cowl was The Christmas Holiday by Phillipa Ashley.
Kay had dyed 2 colors this time, one in a traditional color and one in a modern Christmas color.
I still had a color from Little Bishes Stitches in the color Merry & Bright that matched it perfectly.  

 

Het zesde en tevens laatste boek voor de Reading Corner cowl was De Thuisreis van Rosamunde Pilcher (een schitterend boek om te lezen).
De kleur die Kay omschrijft van een rose kamer met uitzicht op zee vond ik in mijn voorraad. Deze streng is van  Sandra craftfulness in de kleur Garden Party die er goed bij paste.
Het gratis patroon is van Kay Jones, op hun youtube kanaal Bakery Bears zijn de afleveringen van the Yarny Book Club te vinden.

The sixth and final book for the Reading Corner cowl is Coming Home from Rosamunde Pilcher (a brilliant book to read).
I found the color that Kay describes of a pink room with a sea view in my stash. This skein is from Sandra craftfulness in the color Garden Party which matched it well.  
The free pattern is from Kay Jones, the episodes of the Yarny Book Club can be found on their YouTube channel Bakery Bears.

Ik had een col gebreid voor de winkel van Tante Tuttebol  en ook het patroon voor deze Bandana col geschreven.
Dit patroon krijg je gratis bij aankoop van het garen dat je nodig hebt om deze te breien (1 bol terrazzo van Scheepjes in veel kleuren verkrijgbaar).
Hij draagt heerlijk en is lekker warm rondom je nek.

I knitted a cowl for Tante Tuttebol's shop and also wrote the pattern for this Bandana cowl.
You get this pattern for free when you purchase the yarn you need to knit this (1 ball of terrazzo from Scheepjes available in many colors).
It is comfortable to wear and is nice and warm around your neck.

 

Een tijdje terug waren we ook naar Marie-louise Van Het Breipunt geweest, want ik wilde graag een paar bollen Soft Donegal. Hiermee wilde ik de Bombini breien, een col patroon van Kay Jones.
Ik kon geen keuze maken tussen deze 2 combinaties, dus kocht ik alle 4 de kleuren.

Awhile back we went to Het breipunt, because I wanted a few colors of Soft Donegal. With this I wanted to knit the Bombini, a cowl pattern from Kay Jones.
I couldn't make a choice between these 2 combinations, so I bought all four colors.

 

De eerste Bombini dan ook snel gebreid.

The first Bombini was a fast knit.

 

Verder zag ik nog een prachtige sjaal hangen in streep patroon en ook hiervoor kocht ik de garens. Deze wordt gebreid met Het Breipunt Supersoft.

I also saw a beautiful shawl hanging in a stripe pattern and I also bought the yarn for this. This is knitted with Het Breipunt Supersoft. 

 

Er worden 15 kleuren Supersoft gebruikt die steeds mooi in elkaar overlopen.

There are 15 Supersoft colors that blend beautifully into each other.

 

Twee weken later nogmaals naar Marie-louise Van Het Breipunt gereden omdat ik 2 kleuren supersoft moest hebben die bij de kleur Robins Eggs past. Ik ga hiermee de Dobbinwood van Kay Jones maken, een grote omslagdoek. Ik koos voor Mariner en Iced.

Two weeks later we drove again to @het_breipunt because I needed 2 colors of supersoft that match the color Robins Eggs. I am going to use this to make Kay Jones' Dobbinwood, a large shawl/wrap. I chose Mariner and Iced. 

 

Ook nog 4 kleuren Donegal uitgekozen voor nog 2 Bombini's.

Daarna doorgereden naar de Midgetgolfbaan in Geldrop, we zijn hier al vaker geweest en door de vele bomen was het toch te doen ondanks het warme weer. Ik was weer de grote verliezer.
Daarna heerlijk uit eten geweest bij restaurant Heidehof.

Then we drove to the Minigolf course in Geldrop, we have been here before and because of the many trees it was still manageable despite the warm weather. I was the big loser again.
After that we had a lovely dinner at restaurant Heidehof.

 

Twee weken geleden ben ik ook verder gegaan met de linen stitch deken, hij lag al meer dan 1 jaar stil.
Hij wordt gemaakt met 36 mini strengen van 20 grams, dubbel gehouden met een draad zilvergrijs. Hier ben ik bezig met kleur 23, dus het schiet op.

Two weeks ago I picked up again the linen stitch blanket, it had been lying still for more than 1 year.
It is made with 36 mini skeins of 20 grams, held double with a silver gray yarn. Here I was working on color 23, so I am making progress. 

 

En na een paar dagen was ik al aan kleur 28.
Garen: adventskalender van strawberryfields yarns uit 2020 en 12 odd balls van haar.

And after a few days I was onto color 28.

In september hebben Francien en ik ook weer een workshop Sokken breien op de rondbreinaald gegeven bij Tante Tuttebol. Dit was voor de vierde keer nu.

In September, Francien and I also gave another workshop on knitting socks on circular needles at Tante Tuttebol. This was the fourth time now.

 

Ook kwamen er weer 3 kleuren binnen van de maandelijkse Vogelclub van The Woolly Chicken, van links naar rechts Boomklever, Zwaluw, Goudvink (Nuthatch, Swallow, Goldfinch).

En deze 2 kleuren bestelde ik er ook nog bij.

And I also ordered these 2 colors.

 

In september kwam ook de 3e zending van mijn Opal abonnement van 2024 (4x per jaar 6 bollen)  binnen en ze zijn weer prachtig.

The third shipment of my Opal subscription of 2024 (6 balls 4 times a year) arrived this afternoon and the colors are beautiful again. 

 

Je kon er ook 2 bollen bij bestellen met spikkels die ik enorm leuk vond (onderste 1660, bovenste 1661). Het tijdschrift kreeg ik er gratis bij.

You could also order 2 balls with speckles, which I really liked (bottom 1660, top 1661). I received the magazine for free.

 

Van Laurie Gilmore kwamen 3 boeken uit die me super mooi leken. Nadat ik het eerste boek The Pumpkin Spice cafe had besteld, had ik de andere 2 als pre-order besteld. In een tijdstek van een paar weken kwamen ook deze op de markt. In het voorjaar komt het 4e boek uit.

Laurie Gilmore published 3 books that seemed great to me. After I ordered the first book The Pumpkin Spice Cafe, I pre-ordered the other 2. These also came onto the market within a few weeks. The 4th book will be published in the spring.

De eerste adventkalenders zijn ook weer binnen gekomen en jullie weten wat dat betekend. Voor diegene die het leuk vinden post ik in december weer elke dag een berichtje. Voor diegene die het niet leuk vinden, gewoon de berichten overslaan, heel eenvoudig !
Over een paar dagen komt er nog een bericht want ik heb nog leuke foto's van de kleindochters en aangezien deze post al zo lang werd, post ik ze in een nieuw bericht.

There will be another post in a few days because I still have nice pictures of my granddaughters and since this post has become so long, I will post them in a new post.

Diary July 11 - July 27

Er is weer zoveel gebeurd en gemaakt, dus ik maak van de laatste 14 dagen gewoon een soort  dagboekje ;-)

11 Juli:  Week 6 en 7 van de Vibrant Vintage deken zijn weer gemaakt.

So much has happened and made, so from the last 14 days I'm just making a sort of diary :-

13 Juli: Geniet van mijn tuin op deze mooie zonnige dag (32 graden)

 July 13: Enjoying my garden on this beautiful sunny day (32 degrees)

14 Juli: mijn lieverd die graag buiten is, maar als het hem te warm wordt, naar binnen gaat om daar op de koele tegelvloer te gaan liggen.

July 14: my sweetheart who loves to be outside, but when he is getting to hot, he goes inside and lies down on the cool tile floor. 

16 Juli:  Met mijn andere sjaal (Martha's Meadow) gaat het geweldig, maar ik heb evengoed net voor het weekend een andere opgezet met de "birthday cake" strengen van vorig jaar van Norah George. Dit wordt de Washed Out sjaal van Joji Locatelli. Net ook telefoon gekregen van het ziekenhuis en ik kan volgende week donderdag, de 26e, terecht voor mijn neusoperatie. Deze is al langere tijd chronisch verstopt en bezorgt me veel benauwdheid die ik sowieso al heb door de astma/copd. Maar schijnbaar maakt dit het nog erger, dus daar gaat nu wat aan gedaan worden.

July 16: My other shawl (Martha's Meadow) is going great, but I did cast on another one with the "birthday cake" skeins from last year from Norah George. This is going to be the Washed Out shawl by Joji Locatelli. Just got a phone call from the hospital and I can go to my nose surgery next Thursday, the 26th. The left maxillary sinus has been chronically blocked for a long time and gives me a lot of considerable distress that I already have because of the asthma / copd. But apparently this makes it worse, so hopefully with the surgery a part will be gone.

19 Juli: Vandaag weer even gebreid aan de Martha's Meadow sjaal.

Zoveel zonneschijn de laatste tijd, maar toch moet ik regelmatig aan december denken, want dat is de tijd van de advent kalenders. De eerste 2 garen advent kalenders heb ik inmiddels al besteld. Ik heb deze keer wel gekozen voor garen kalenders met 20 gram strengetjes ipv de 10 grams van vorig jaar, daar kun je toch iets meer. De eerste is van The Yarn Lab UK en deze is geinspireerd op Harry Potter, tja daar kan ik geen nee tegen zeggen ;-)

So much sunshine lately, but I still have to think about December regularly, because that is the time of the Advent calendars. I ordered the first two yarn advent calenders this week. This time I choose for calendars with 20 grams skeins  instead of the 10 grams of last year, because you can do more with those. The first one I ordered is from The Yarn Lab UK and it is a Harry Potter inspired calendar, Who can say no to that ;-)

 

De tweede is van Strawberry Fields Yarn en bij haar kon je kiezen uit 2 thema's, regenboog of boeken. Ik heb gekozen voor thema boeken, inmiddels is deze al uitverkocht zag ik, dus ik ben blij dat ik op tijd was.

The second one is from Strawberry Fields Yarn and you could choose from 2 themes, rainbow or books. I choose for theme books, this one is already sold out now, so lucky me that I got one.

23 juli: Zittend in de tuin, werken aan mijn vierkantjes voor de vibrant vintage deken 2018 van cypress textiles.

 En Bowy geniet gewoon mee van het mooie weer.

24 Juli:  Week 8 en 9 van de vribant vintage 2018 deken zijn weer gemaakt.

 Mijn 3e advent kalender is ook besteld. Dat is de kalender met de 24 x 100 grams strengen van Irish Fairytale Yarns, die ik vorig jaar ook had. Toen had ik de merino/zijde strengen, nu ga ik voor de merino strengen. Als je voor eind augustus besteld, dan krijg je er nog een extra streng bij, dus dat zijn er dan 25. Maar goed dat ik nog ideeën genoeg heb ;-)

I also ordered my 3th advent calendar. This calendar is the one with the 24 x 100 grams skeins from Irish Fairytale Yarns, that I also had last year. Last year I had the merino/silk skeins, now I ordered the merino skeins. If you order before the end of august you get an extra skein, so that makes 25 skeins. I'm glad I have plenty enough ideas ;-)

 25 Juli: Vandaag mijn deel 1 van de Crown Wools MKAL van Casapinka afgekregen, die was gestart op 19 juli. Helaas zie je vanwege de donkere kleur niet de kleine bobbels erg goed op de foto. Ik ben meteen begonnen aan deel 2, die gaat gemaakt worden met de 2e kleur.

July 25: I finished my clue 1 of the Crown Wools MKAL from Casapinka today, it started July 19. The little bobbles don't show up very clear because of the dark color. I already started my clue 2 with color 2.

26 Juli: Michiel kon me al om kwart voor 5 ophalen in het ziekenhuis, ik moest om half 12 vanmorgen binnenkomen. De operatie was rond kwart over 1. Alles is keigoed gegaan, zelfs geen watten in mijn neus gekregen, geen pijn verder en voel me prima. Komende tijd nog niet bukken of neus snuiten, maar daar let ik wel op. Merk nu al dat ik veel beter adem kan halen door de neus en minder benauwd ben !!

July 26: My surgery maxillary inflammation went well today. After 5 hours I could go home again. I had this operation because I couldn't breathe through my nose and that gave considerable distress. After the surgery I noticed that I could breathe much better through my nose !!

 

27 Juli: Dit was weer zo'n boek waarvan je het spijtig vond dat je de laatste bladzijde gelezen had. Wat een top boek ! Je leeft mee met alle 4 de vriendinnen en dan is daar Marie, de huishoudster, die steeds voor iedereen weer goede raad heeft. Een echte aanrader. Ik ben inmiddels in een volgende boek van haar begonnen ;-)

July 27: This was another book you regretted having read the last page. What a top book ! All 4 friends have their own problems, but than there is Marie, the housekeeper who always has good advice for everyone. Highly recommended for Dutch readers, because I don't know if it was translated. I already started to read another book of her.

Ik hoor vele klagen, maar ik geniet nog steeds van het prachtige weer. Gelukkig kan ik er nog steeds goed tegen. Ook vandaag gaat het uitstekend, geen pijn aan mijn neus en ik kan zoveel meer goed ademen door mijn neus, ik sta ervan versteld. Mijn hele energie komt terug.

Many are complaining about the warm weather, but I enjoy it. I don't have any problems with this hot weather.  I feel fine, my nose is healing well, I have no pain and I am amazed at how much better I can breathe through my nose. My whole energy is coming back.
