Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday

Op eerste kerstdag wordt Mees weer een jaar ouder, hij is nu 3 jaar. Hij krijgt vandaag nog een heerlijk bot en iets om mee te spelen. Gefeliciteerd Mees !

On Christmas Day, Mees turns a year older again, he is now 3 years old. Today he gets a lovely bone and something to play with. Congratulations Mees!

Ook mocht ik nog enkele pakjes open maken vandaag. Allereerst 2 strengen van Crealien Designs (ik had er 1 extra bij besteld).

I was also allowed to open a few packages today. First of all, 2 skeins from Crealien Designs (I ordered 1 extra).

Gistermiddag hebben we ook weer gingerbread koekjes gebakken naar een recept van Laura's bakery. We nemen er straks ook een aantal mee voor de kleindochters als we naar zoonlief gaan waar ook onze dochter met haar gezin heen gaat. De deeg stempel kochten we laatst in Duitsland.

Yesterday afternoon we also baked gingerbread cookies based on a recipe from Laura's bakery. We will also take some with us for the granddaughters when we go to visit our son this afternoon, where our daughter is also going with her family. We recently bought a dough stamp in Germany.

Knitting and veggies from the oven

Het gaat zo lekker met mijn Selago Sunset sjaal die ik in mijn vorige bericht liet zien. Ik ben inmiddels aan de buitenste rand begonnen met de kleur Lipstick 💋.

It is going so well with my Selago Sunset shawl that I showed in my previous message. I already started on my outer border with the color Lipstick 💋.

Er zijn zoveel recepten van groenten schotels uit de oven, dit is een versie die ik super vaak maak en hij blijft heerlijk.

There are so many recipes of vegetables dishes from the oven, this is a version that I make very often and it stays delicious.

Groenten uit de oven

Nodig voor 4 personen:
700 gram voorgekookte mini krielaardappelen
2 grote paprika's
250 gram champions
2 uien
2 rode uien
6 teentjes knooflook
5 grote tomaten of een stuk of 35 cherry tomaatjes
1 courgette (hiervoor kun je ook een aubergine nemen)
zeezout en 4 seizoenen peper
tijm, oregano en rozemarijn.
Braadslee, de mijne is 26cm x 39cm x 4 cm

Vet je braadslee met olie in. Snij alles in kleine stukjes en verdeel over de braadslee de aardappelen, paprika's, champions, uien, knoflook, tomaten en courgette. Strooi er naar smaak zeezout, peper, tijm, oregano en rozemarijn over. Sprenkel wat olie over alles heen en schuif de braadslee voor ongeveer 40-45 minuten in de oven op 220°C. Schep de groenten halverwege de tijd even goed om. Indien nodig nog een beetje olie toevoegen.

Veggies from the oven

Needed for 4 people:
700 grams of pre-cooked mini new potatoes
2 large paprika
250 grams of champions
2 onions
2 red onions
6 cloves of garlic
5 large tomatoes or something like 35 cherry tomatoes
1 zucchini (you can also take an eggplant for this)
sea ​​salt and 4 seasons pepper
thyme, oregano and rosemary.
Roasting pan, mine is 26cm x 39cm x 4 cm

Grease your roasting pan with oil. Cut everything into small pieces and spread over the roasting pan the potatoes, paprika's, champions, onions, garlic, tomatoes and zucchini. Sprinkle some sea salt, pepper, thyme, oregano and rosemary over it. Sprinkle some oil over everything and slide the roasting pan for about 40-45 minutes in the oven at 220° C. Turn the vegetables halfway through time and add a little oil if necessary.

Villa Kakelbont

Herkennen jullie dat? Dan zie je opeens een quilt die je WILT maken. Het liefst schuif je er alles voor aan de kant. Dat overkwam mij toen ik deze quilt zag staan in de laatste Quilt Mania, nummer 109. Helaas kon ik er nog niet aan beginnen, want eerst moest de Dear Diary Virtues quilt af zijn. Nu die quilt klaar is, mag ik dan eindelijk ;-)

Do you recognize it? You see a quilt and you just HAVE to make it. That happend to me when I saw this quilt in the Quilt Mania, number 109. I wanted to start right away, but I couldn't, because first I had to finish my Dear Diary Virtues quilt. Now that this quilt is made, I can start this one ;-)

Het tijdschrift bleef al die tijd dicht in de buurt liggen en in gedachte was ik er al mee bezig. Ik zou er heel veel restlapjes in kwijt kunnen, niet kijken naar kleur of motiefje, maar gewoon er alles in stoppen wat ik tegenkwam. Mooie en minder mooie lapjes, gekke en grappige lapjes, heerlijk kakelbont. 

I kept the magazine close by me all the time and in thought I already was working on this quilt. I could use all my scraps for it, no looking at color or motif, I put everything in it. Beautiful and not so beautiful fabrics, crazy and funny ones. In Dutch we have a word for it: Kakelbont, which means multi-coloured/richly coloured. 

Hierdoor moest ik aan  Pippi Langkous denken, mijn favoriete kinderboek en tv serie. Haar huis heet Villa Kakelbont en dat zou de naam van deze quilt worden.

Because of this word my thoughts went to Pippi Longstocking, my favorite book and tv series. Her house is called in Dutch "Villa Kakelbont"  (Villa Villekulla), so this would be the name for this quilt.

In het weekend ben ik bezig geweest om allerlei restlapjes apart te leggen, die groot genoeg zijn om er de malletjes uit te knippen. Ik moest 195 gekleurde en 124 achtergrond stofjes hebben. De quilt in de Quiltmania is 15 x 15 rijen, maar ik maak hem 13 x 15 rijen.

During the weekend I was busy with sorting out my scrap fabrics, they had to be large enough to cut out the templates. I must have 195 coloured ones and 124 background fabrics. The quilt in the Quilt Mania is 15 x 15 rows, but I'm making it 13 x 15 rows.

Ik heb er gewoon kriebels van in mijn buik, zo leuk vind ik deze quilt. Het eerste blokje is al gemaakt ;-)

I have butterflies in my stomach, so much I like this quilt. The first block is already made ;-)

Tussendoor blijf ik wel aan mijn borduurtjes werken, want ik moet nog verschillende kerstborduurtjes maken. Snow Birds van Country Cottage Needleworks is weer af, dit patroon stond in de Just Cross Stitch 2013 Christmas Ornaments.

In between I keep cross stitching, because I still have to make several   christmas pieces. Snow Birds from Country Cottage Needleworks is finished, the pattern was in the Just Cross Stitch 2013 Christmas Ornaments.

Regelmatig kreeg ik de vraag hoe ik de cake met pompoen gemaakt had, die in mijn kopfoto van dit blog staat. Dit was gewoon een plaatje wat ik op het internet gevonden had en ik had dus geen idee hoe je die cake moest maken. Een lieve vriendin op facebook had het recept gevonden en stuurde me van de week de link door van de cake. Je kunt hem HIER (klik) vinden.

Autumn in the garden and Pumpkin soup

Ook in de tuin is het volop herfst,

Gisteravond heb ik weer een grote pan pompoenensoep gemaakt. Ik gebruik een heel eenvoudig recept wat mij uitstekend bevalt en de soep is heerlijk!

Hier is het recept:

1 soeppompoen (ongeveer 1200 gram)
1 grote ui
1 prei
1 eetl. paprikapoeder
3 bouillonblokken (runds)
1,5 liter water
1 kruidenbuideltje

Last night I made another large pan of pumpkin soup. I use a very simple recipe and the soup is delicious!

Here is the recipe:

 

1 soup pumpkin (about 1200 grams)
1 large onion
1 leek
1 tbsp. paprika powder
3 bouillon blocks (beef)
1.5 liter water
1 herbal Sachet

 

 

In het hete water de boullionblokken oplossen. Pompoen afspoelen, halveren, pitten verwijderen en in stukken snijden. In een soeppan 2 eetl. olie verwarmen en de ui en prei hierin aanfruiten. 

The bouillon blocks dissolve in the hot water. Pumpkin rinse, cut in halve, remove seeds and cut into pieces. Heat in a large pan 2 tbsp. oil and bake the onion and Leek in this for a minute or 2.

 

 

Pompoen met paprikapoeder door het ui-prei mengsel scheppen en 5 minuten zachtjes laten bakken.

Put the pumpkin with paprika powder by the onion-leek mixture and let fry gently for 5 minutes.

Daarna de bouillon erbij doen en aan de kook brengen. Laat dit in 20 minuten zachtjes gaarkoken.

Then add the broth and bring it to boil. Let this softly boil for 20 minutes.

De laatste 10 minuten hang je het kruidenbuideltje erbij.

The last 10 minutes you hang your herbal sachet in the soup.

 

Als de pompoen gaar is, de pan van het vuur nemen en met een staafmixer pureren tot een gladde lichtgebonden soep. 

If the pumpkin is cooked, take the pan from the heat and liquidize with a blender till you have a smooth soup.

 

Ik heb gisteravond de dubbele hoeveelheid genomen van wat ik hierboven heb beschreven, zodat ik meer voorraad had voor in de diepvries.

Last night I have double the amount of ingredients from what I have described above, so that I had more stock to put in the freezer.

En wat betreft de Dear Diary Virtues quilt, blok 6 is inmiddels doorgequilt, nog 3 te gaan.

And as for the Dear Diary Virtues quilt, block 6 has now been quilted, 3 more to go.

 

Hazelnut mocha petit four

Vandaag dan het allerlaatste gebakje. Deze past uitstekend bij de herfst, het hazelnoot mokka petit fourtje. Vorige week zag ik op de kofferbakverkoop een ketting hangen, die allemaal bestond uit kralen die op hazelnootjes leken. Ik kocht de ketting en nu heb ik heel veel hazelnoot kraaltjes in 3 kleuren ;-)

Today its time for our last petit four. This one suites perfect with autumn, the hazelnut mocha petit four. Last week I found on the flea market a chain with beads that looked like hazelnuts. I bought the chain for and now I have many hazelnut beads in 3 colors ;-)

Wat waren ze leuk om te maken, alle 17 petit fourtjes en ik ben haast blij dat ik ze nu nogmaals mag gaan maken voor mijn dochter. De hazelnoot mokkataart is heerlijk en HIER  vind je een recept ervoor.

Cream cone with strawberry mousse

Bijna is het gedaan, dan zijn alle petit fourtjes gehaakt. Als voorlaatste is het roomhoorntje met aardbeienmousse aan de beurt.

Banana eclair

Dit is ook een van mijn favoriete gebakjes, de bananensoes en wat was deze leuk om te maken.

Lapis legit with green pandan

De schaal raakte zo vol, dat ik een andere uit de kast genomen heb. Zolang ik nog geen leuke etagere heb, mogen ze nu op deze glazen plaat blijven staan. Voor vandaag heb ik pandan spekkoek gemaakt. Ik moet bekennen dat ik er nog nooit van gehoord had, laat staan ervan geproeft.

The plate was so full, that I took another one. For as long I haven't found a nice etagere, this one is good. Today I made lapis legit with green pandan. I must confess that I never heard of it and never taste it.

Nu het echt herstweer geworden is, is het ook weer tijd om een paar truien te breien, want die kom ik enkele tekort. Het liefst brei ik met Egyptisch katoen, dat is zo lekker zacht. Wel brei ik altijd met dubbele draad op naalden 5,5. Deze keer heb ik gekozen om Katia Bombay (kleur 2007) te combineren met Online Linie 163 Bingo (kleur 23). Het rugpand is al bijna af.

Now that we have autumn weather, its time to knit some sweaters. My favorite yarn is Egyptian cotton, that is so soft. Most of the time I knit with two threads at the same time on needles 5,5. This time I choose Katia Bombay (color 2007) combined with Online Linie163 Bingo (color 23). I almost finished the back side.

Mini turban cake

De schaal raakt nu al aardig vol en als 13e gebakje is er een mini tulband gehaakt. Je zou er zo je tanden in willen zetten.

The plate is almost full and as the 13th cake I made the mini turban cake. I would love to bite a piece out if it.

Omdat je nu eenmaal niet je tanden in haakwerk kunt zetten, blijft er niets over dan zelf een tulband te bakken. HIER vind je weer een lekker recept.
