Update februari

 3 maanden zijn er voorbij gegaan zonder ook maar een bericht te schrijven, het lijkt wel alsof de dagen weg vliegen. Ik zal maar snel een samenvatting geven van de maand februari.
We begonnen begin februari met de Valenscarf, een Valenvent patroon voor hun patrons georganiseerd door Kay Jones. Enorm leuk om te breien met 14 mini's en een contrastkleur.
Ik gebruik strengen uit de Doctor Who adventskalender 2021 van Het Wolbeest. De contrastkleur is 801 Boticelli Red van Malabrigo.

3 months have gone by without writing a single post, it seems like the days are flying away. I'll just quickly give a summary of the month of February.
The Valenscarf, a Valenvent pattern for their patrons organized by Kay Jones. Very fun to knit with 14 minis and a contrast color.
I use skeins from the Doctor Who advent calendar 2021 from @het_wolbeest. The contrast color is 801 Boticelli Red from malabrigo.

Tussen al het breien door ben ik ook bezig geweest met sterren te maken voor mijn Pippi Langkous sterren quilt. Het einde is in zicht.

In between all the knitting, I am also been busy making stars for my Pippi Longstocking star quilt. The end is in sight.

Het tweede boek voor de Reading Corner cowl is De geest van Danielle Steel. Het is al een wat ouder boek, maar wat een geweldig verhaal.
In het boek worden kleuren genoemd die in het huis voorkomen, zoals creme, geel, grijs, blauw en perzikkleur. Ik had nog een mooie streng in voorraad waar deze kleuren in zaten.
Patroon: Kay Jones op hun youtube kanaal Bakery Bears, afleveringen van the Yarny Book Club.
Garen: craftfulness in de kleur Tea at Granny's.
Garen boord en tussenliggende strepen: Herbstblatt Regina in de kleur Baiserhauße.

The second book for the Reading Corner cowl is The Ghost by Danielle Steel. It is an older book, but what a great story. The book mentions colors that occur in the house, such as cream, yellow, gray, blue and peach. I still had a nice skein in stock that contained these colors.

Ook waren er poppendekens in de maak voor een bijna jarige kleindochter en haar zus.
Eerst een gehaakte dekentje, daarna een quiltje en een gebreid dekentje voor de 2 dames.
Ik maak een roze en een paarse set.

There were also doll blankets in the making for an almost birthday granddaughter and her sister.
First a crocheted blanket, then a quilt and a knitted blanket for the 2 ladies.
I'm making a pink and a purple set.

De gehaakte poppendekentjes waren als eerste af. Daarna waren de poppenquiltjes aan de beurt.

The crocheted doll blankets were first finished. Next up are the doll quilts.

Dinsdagavond gaven we de eerste les van de workshop Sokken breien op de rondbreinaald bij tante tuttebol. Voor mijn vriendin en mij is dit nu de derde keer dat we de workshop geven.
Er werd weer hard gewerkt en wat vonden ze de opzet moeilijk, maar uiteindelijk slaagde iedereen erin. Daarna leren omgaan met de rondbreinaald maar dat hadden de meeste ook vrij snel door. Nu thuis de boord afbreien en het been.

Tuesday evening we gave the first lesson of the Sock knitting on the Circular Needle workshop at tante tuttebol. For my friend and me, this is now the third time we have given the workshop.
They worked hard again and they found the setup difficult, but in the end everyone succeeded. Then they learned to use the circular needle, but most of them figured that out pretty quickly. Now they can knit the cuff and the leg at home.

Ik zal zo snel mogelijk een update over maart en april schrijven. Ook heb ik de boekenlijst aan de rechterkant bijgewerkt.

Big surprise

 Op 1 februari begon Valenvent. Kay Jones gaf een patroon aan hun patrons, The Cherish Cowl. De bedoeling was om elke dag, tien dagen lang, een kleur te breien. Ik gebruikte hiervoor 10 mini strengen van The woolly chicken yarns. Op de 10e dag had ik de col af.

Valenvent started on February 1. Kay Jones gave their patrons a pattern, The Cherish Cowl. The intention was to knit a color every day for ten days. I used 10 mini skeins from The woolly chicken yarns for this. On the 10th day I finished the cowl.

Op 11 februari was het dan zover, de opening van wolwinkel Tante Tuttebol.

On February 11, the opening of wool shop Tante Tuttebol was finally here.

Het was de hele dag razend druk en zelfs ik heb klanten geholpen. Rond het middaguur klopte er ineens iemand op mijn schouder en tot mijn grote verrassing stond daar Else, mijn internet vriendinnetje. Het was 11 jaar geleden dat ik haar gezien had tijdens een open dag bij Quiltatelier Wendy Vosters. Ze hadden er 2 uur over gedaan om er te komen en wat was het geweldig om haar weer te zien. Natuurlijk moest er een foto genomen worden. Het was zo'n grote verrassing voor me, echt super geweldig.

It was extremely busy all day and even I helped customers. Around noon someone suddenly tapped on my shoulder and to my great surprise there was Else, my internet friend. It was 11 years ago that I had seen her during an open day at Quilt atelier Wendy Vosters. It had taken them 2 hours to get there and it was great to see her again. Of course a photo had to be taken. This was such a big surprise for me and I loved it.

Om 16 uur werd de deur dicht gedaan en Anja kon terug kijken op een geweldige opening van haar nieuwe winkel.

At 4 pm the door was closed and Anja could look back on a great opening of her new store.

Inmiddels is ook de eerste workshop bekend. Mr. Knitbear komt op 5 april de cursus Dubbel Breien geven. Ik ga er ook naar toe want ik wil dit graag leren.

The first workshop has now also been announced. mr. Knitbear will be teaching the Double Knitting course on April 5th. I'm going there too because I want to learn this.

Met de tafelloper voor op de handwerktafel in de winkel ben ik inmiddels bezig met de 4e kleur. Hij is nu ongeveer 180 cm lang. Ik ben benieuwd hoe lang hij is als bol 4 helemaal op is.

With the table runner for the large table in the store I am now working on the 4th color. He is now about 180 cm long. I wonder how long it will be when ball 4 is completely knit up.

Na 15 maanden eindelijk weer kunnen fietsen, weer een stukje verder met de revalidatie. Hierdoor kon ik 15 februari ook weer naar de quiltbee, wat heb ik de dames gemist.
Ik had mijn Pippi Langkous sterren quilt meegenomen en 2 sterren gemaakt. Voor het eerst na de operatie (half jaar geleden) weer een quiltnaald vastgehouden.

Finally able to cycle again after 15 months, another bit further with the rehabilitation. Because of this I was able to go to the quiltbee again on February 15, how I missed the ladies.
I brought my Pippi Longstocking star quilt and made 2 stars. Held a quilting needle for the first time after surgery (half a year ago).

Ruim 2 weken geleden ontving ik ook deze 10 mini strengen van Atelier Sopra. Ik had ze besteld om er de Eremophila shawl van Ambah O'Brien mee te maken. Natuurlijk moet ik eerst nog wat andere projecten afmaken.

More than 2 weeks ago I also received these 10 mini skeins from Atelier Sopra. I ordered them to make the Eremophila shawl from Ambah O'Brien. Of course I have some other projects to finish first.

Verder heb ik deze mooie handwerktas van Knitpro gekocht bij Tante Tuttebol van een cadeaubon die ik kreeg voor mijn verjaardag. Deze tas komt uit de Bloom serie.

I also bought this beautiful craft bag from Knitpro at Tante Tuttebol from a gift voucher I received for my birthday. This bag comes from the Bloom series.

Hij is heel ruim en ik kan nu mijn brei of haakspullen fijn meenemen als ik op dinsdagmiddag naar het brei/haakcafe bij Tante Tuttebol ga en op vrijdagmiddag naar het brei/haakcafe in de bibliotheek.

It is very spacious and I can now take my knitting or crocheting stuff with me when I go to the knitting/crochet cafe at Tante Tuttebol on Tuesday afternoon and to the knitting/crochet cafe in the library on Friday afternoon.

En ja, op woensdagmiddag ben ik naar de quiltbee en op maandag- en donderdagmiddag heb ik fysio. Meestal ga ik op donderdag na de fysio ook nog even langs de winkel om wat bolletjes wol in de kasten te leggen die binnen gekomen zijn. Je ziet, vervelen doe ik me zeker niet.

And yes, on Wednesday afternoon I go to the quiltbee and on Monday and Thursday afternoon I have physio. Usually on Thursday after the physio I also drop by the store of Tante Tuttebol to put some balls of wool in the cupboards that have come in. You see, I certainly don't get bored.

10 maart
De Sterrenregen quilt staat in elkaar, begonnen op 13 februari. Er komt alleen nog een smalle rand omheen,  maar die moet ik in de winkel uit gaan zoeken.

March 10
The Starry Rain quilt is completed, started on February 13th. There will only be a small border around it,  but I have to look for fabric  in a store.  

12 maart
Gisteren bij de orthopeed geweest vanwege mijn jarenlange pijnklachten aan rechterheup. Ik krijg op 25 maart hiervoor een mri scan.
Daarna naar Quiltstudio Patch & Stitch  geweest om stof uit te zoeken voor de rand van de Sterrenregen quilt. Gekozen voor deze combinatie, eerst een smalle donkerbruine bies en daarna een grijsblauwe rand.

March 12
Went to the orthopedist yesterday because of my years of pain in the right hip. I will have an MRI scan for this on March 25th.
Then went to Quiltstudio Patch & Stitch  to pick out fabric for the border of the Starry Rain quilt. Chosen for this combination, first a narrow dark brown trim and then a grey-blue border. 

 

Ook nog een paar andere stofjes en 2 acryl templates gekocht.

 

Also bought a few other fabrics and 2 acrylic templates.

14 maart
Nu de Sterrenregen quilt af is op de rand na, heb ik 2 andere oude projecten uit de kast gehaald. Een ervan is de Pippi Langkous sterren quilt. Hier ben ik in januari 2017 mee begonnen en er moeten nog 49 hele en 12 halve sterren gemaakt worden. Dit weekend heb ik 10 sterren gemaakt. Nu een paar dagen werken aan het andere project dat uit de kast gekomen is.

March 14
Now that the Starry Rain quilt is finished except for the border, I got 2 other old projects out of the closet. One of them is the Pippi Longstocking Stars quilt. I started this in January 2017 and 49 full and 12 half stars still have to be made. This weekend I made 10 stars. Now I'm going to work on the other project that came out of the closet for a few days.

16 maart
Het tweede project dat uit de kast gekomen is, is de Carousel quilt van Ellie's Quiltplace, waarmee ik in mei 2018 ben begonnen.
Voor blok 3 (van de 9) moesten nog 2 flying geese randen gemaakt worden. Die zijn nu gemaakt en kan ik eraan gaan zetten.

March 16
The second project that has come out of the closet is the Carousel quilt from Ellie's Quiltplace, which I started in May 2018.
For block 3 (out of 9) 2 flying geese edges still had to be made. They are now made and I can sew them on.

Vandaag 19 maart
De flying geese randen staan aan blok 3 en ik heb meteen blok 3 aan de andere 2 gezet. Hiermee is rij 1 helemaal af. Nog 2 rijen te gaan.

Today March 19
The flying geese edges are sewed on block 3 and I immediately put block 3 on the other 2. This completes row 1. Two more rows to go.

So strange ...

En dan ... na het schrijven van mijn laatste blogje op 15 maart is nu ineens de hele wereld op slot. Niet meer naar je kinderen,  familie of vrienden, niet meer naar de quiltgroep, niet meer naar de bibliotheek. Het voelt best wel raar.

And then ... after writing my last blog on March 15, suddenly the whole world is locked. No more visiting your children, family or friends, no more to the quilt group, no more to the library. It feels kind of weird.

Hoeland gaat dit duren? Niemand weet het nog. Kunnen wij ons 2e kleinkind gaan bezoeken als ze geboren wordt eind mei of moeten we dan nog steeds afstand houden? Dit vind ik nog wel het ergste, nu niet meer op bezoek gaan bij schoondochter en zoon die in blijde verwachting zijn. Maar ik denk het belangrijkste voor nu is dat zij gezond blijven.

How long will this take? Nobody knows. Can we visit our 2nd grandchild when she is born at the end of May or should we still keep our distance? I think this is the worst, now that I no longer can visit my daughter-in-law and son who are looking forward to the birth of their first child. But I think the most important thing for now is that they stay healthy.

 

Komende week zal ik eens beginnen aan de I-Spy quilt voor ons 2e kleinkind. Hij krijgt veel andere lapjes erin dan de I-Spy quilt van Lana, want ik kreeg van een super lieve vriendin mooie stofjes toegestuurd.

Next week I will start with the I-Spy quilt for our 2nd grandchild. It gets a lot of different fabric than the I-Spy quilt from Lana, because I received beautiful fabrics from a super sweet friend.

Op 18 maart had ik die hiel klaar van de Tea at Downton sokken, een patroon van Kay van de Bakery Bears. De sokken worden mooier en mooier.
Het garen is van Bollekes wol en de mini streng van LamingtonLass Yarns.

On March 18 I had knit the heel flap and heel turn on the Tea at Downton socks, a pattern from Kay of the Bakery Bears. I like them more and more.
The yarn is from Bollekes wool and the mini skein from LamingtonLass Yarns.

En gisteren kreeg ik een voet afgebreid, dus ik kan beginnen aan de teen.

And yesterday I finished the foot on one sock, I can start on the toe.

De mooie sok blokkers had ik besteld bij The knitting shed uit Engeland. Ik had ze al enige tijd op mijn verlanglijstje staan.

Tussendoor had ik ook gewerkt aan mijn sterrenquilt. Ik had een paar losliggende sterren aan de quilt vastgenaaid.

Ik ben helemaal vergeten om mijn streng van maart van Piratenwolle te laten zien, dit is van mijn jaar abonnement. Het is een prachtige voorjaarskleur.

I totally forgot to show the yarn for March from Piratenwolle, it is from the year abo. I love the spring color.

Ook kreeg ik voor het eerst mijn Opal abonnement binnen. Je krijgt dan 4 keer per jaar 6 bollen die alleen voor het abonnement gemaakt zijn. Het kan zijn dat na lange tijd een bepaalde kleur in het assortiment opgenomen wordt als daar veel vraag naar is. Deze 6 kleuren vind ik al geweldig.

I also got my Opal abo for the first time. You will then receive 6 balls, which are only made for the subscription, 4 times a year. It may be that after a long time a certain color is included in the normal collection if there is a high demand for it. I already love these 6 colors.

En met onze kleine dame in Engeland gaat het ook super goed. Wat ben ik blij dat we skype hebben.

And with our little girl in England all is fine. I'm so glad we have skype.

Diary September 9 - September 26

Het lijkt wel of de dagen voorbij vliegen. Ik dacht dat ik pas een blogje geschreven had maar dit blijkt alweer 2 1/2 week geleden te zijn. 

9 September: Bij al die garen advent kalenders die in december komen, mag een heerlijke thee advent kalender van Your daily teacup (klik) niet ontbreken, dus die is inmiddels ook besteld. Tot 1 oktober nog met korting te bestellen ;-)

It seems the days are flying away. I thought I had write recently a blog post but it is already 2 1/2 weeks ago. 

September 9: With all the yarn advent calendars that are coming in December, I also decided to order a  tea advent calendar from the Dutch shop Your daily teacup (click). 

Vanmiddag zijn we naar een plaatselijke pompoenmarkt geweest en daar hebben wij een aantal Hokkaido pompoenen voor de soep gehaald en een Butterscotch pompoen die ik gebruik om een cake mee te bakken. Ik maak de pompoensoep volgens eigen recept, HIER (klik) te vinden.

This afternoon we went to a local pumpkin market and we bought some Hokkaido pumkins for making soup and a Butterscotch pumpkin to bake a cake. I always make the pumpkinsoup following my own recipe, you can find it HERE (click).

12 September: Mijn dochter bracht me een super leuk cadeautje mee uit Engeland, ze weet wel waar haar moeder helemaal weg van is. Harry Potter natuurlijk.

September 12: My daughter had her vacation in England and brought me a wonderful present, she knows what her mother like. Everything from Harry Potter.

13 September: Deze quilt ligt al bijna 5 jaar te wachten om door gequilt te worden, When the frost is on the pumpkin, uit het boek Country quilts for friends van Margaret Peters en Anne Sutton. Ik ben er eindelijk aan begonnen. Ik probeer er elke week eventjes aan te werken.

September 13: This quilt has been waiting for almost 5 years to be quilted, When the frost is on the pumpkin, from the book Country quilts for friends by Margaret Peters and Anne Sutton. I finally started and hope to quilt on it each week a bit.

Tot slot had ik ook nog bij Chapel View Crafts (klik) een mini advent kalender besteld. Ze maakt prachtige stitch markers and progress keepers (steek markeerders en voortgangs markeerders). De mini kalender houdt in dat er 15 items in zitten verspreid over 12 dagen. Ik maak dus om de andere dag een pakje open. Je kon ook het onderwerp kiezen: cakes, kerst of een mix van beide. Ik koos voor de laatste ;-)

I also ordered a mini advent calendar at Chapel View Crafts (click). She makes such beautiful stitch markers and progress keepers. The mini advent calendar means: 15 items all together included in the calendar spread over 12 days. So I open a package every other day. You could choose: cakes, christmas or a mix of both. I choose the last one ;-)
 

14 September: De eerste garen advent kalender is binnen gekomen. Deze is van The yarn lab UK met thema Harry Potter. Nu wachten tot 1 december en ik mag het eerste pakje open maken.

15 September: Sectie 4 van de Goldfish Memory sjaal van Casapinka is bijna klaar. De 3 mooie kleuren blauw zijn van Marianthi yarns in de kleuren Dark denim, Stone washed and Melting snow. Ik vind ze toch zo geweldig mooi.

September 15: I'm almost done with section 4 of the Goldfish Memory shawl from Casapinka. The 3 beautiful blue colors are from Marianthi yarns in the colors Dark denim, Stone washed and Melting snow. I love these so much.

16 September: Vandaag was het Americana Village in ons dorp. Er was heel veel te zien. Speciaal voor mijn zoon Niels een paar foto's gemaakt omdat hij zelf niet kon gaan.

September 16: Today it was Americana Village in our village. There was a lot to see. I made a few pictures for my son because he couldn't go himself.

20 September: Vandaag druk bezig met blok 2 van de Carousel quilt van Ellie's Quiltplace.

22 September: Mijn blok 2 was gisteren al klaar en inmiddels ben ik met de vliegende gansjes bezig die rondom komen.

September 22: My block 2 was ready yesterday and I'm already busy with the flying geese that come around.

25 September: Tussendoor steeds druk bezig om al de pompoenen door te quilten.

September 25: In between all other things I'm still busy with quilting all those pumpkins. 

26 September: Vanmiddag in ons dorp naar de quiltclub in de Gunnerij geweest en volop sterretjes zitten tekenen en knippen voor mijn Pippi Langkous sterrenquilt. Tijd om weer eens een aantal sterren te maken voor deze quilt.

September 26: This afternoon I went to my quiltclub in our village and I was busy with drawing an cutting out pieces for making more stars for my Pippi Longstocking Stars quilt. Time to sew a few more stars and attach it to the quilt.
