Quiltshop visit and socks finished

Vorige week kreeg ik de sokken af voor mijn dochter Lindy. Ik heb allemaal restjes gebruikt van Opal die roze erin hadden want daar houdt ze van.

Last week I got the socks finished for my daughter Lindy. I used all the leftovers from Opal that had pink in them because she likes that.

Ze was heel erg blij met haar sokken die perfekt passen. Lindy heeft al gevraagd of ze er nog een paar kan krijgen.

She was very happy with her socks that fit perfectly. Lindy has already asked if she can get a few more.

Afgelopen zaterdag reden we naar het zuiden, want Jacqueline van The Log Cabin had open dag.

Last Saturday we drove south, because Jacqueline from The Log Cabin had an open day.

In haar winkel raak je nooit uitgekeken, steeds zie je weer iets nieuws.

In de opruimingsbak vond ik nog 2 charm packs van de serie Mill Creek Garden. Ik had van de zomer al zo'n charmpack gekocht voor een projecttasje maar ik wilde bij nader inzien er liever een quilt mee maken omdat ik de stofjes zo mooi vond.
Nu ik deze 2 charm packs zag besloot ik meteen om ze ook te kopen zodat die quilt er nu zeker komt.
Ik vond nog een stof die er mooi bij past en een grijs/blauwe lap. Verder kocht ik nog een boekenlegger van Wrendale Designs en zie je die tas staan?

In the clearance bin I found 2 more charm packs from the Mill Creek Garden series. I had already bought such a charm pack this summer for a project bag, but on second thought I would rather make a quilt with it because I liked the fabrics so much.
Now that I saw these 2 charm packs, I immediately decided to buy them so that the quilt will definitely be made.
I found another fabric that matches nicely and a gray/blue fabric. I also bought a bookmark from Wrendale Designs and do you see that bag?

Ik zag in de opruimings afdeling tasjes staan met adventkalenders van het afgelopen jaar. Maar daar zaten alleen kerststofjes in en dat wilde ik niet. Jacqueline zei dat ze nog een tasje had staan met traditionele stofjes, maar dat ze die nog niet in zakjes had gedaan. Ik kreeg hem ook met korting en Michiel heeft thuis alle 24 stofjes in een zakje gedaan zodat ik komende december elke dag een zakje kan uitpakken. Geweldig toch, ... mijn eerste adventkalender van dit jaar.

I saw bags in the clearance section with advent calendars from the past year. But it only contained Christmas fabrics and I didn't want that. Jacqueline said she had a bag with traditional fabrics, but she hadn't bagged them yet. I also got it at a discount and Michiel put all 24 fabrics in a bag at home so that I can unpack a bag every day next December. Isn't it great... my first advent calendar of this year.

In een andere winkel vond ik naast een aantal keukenspullen ook deze twee blikjes. Zo handig voor steekmarkeerders.

Kay Jones begint op 1 februari met Valenvent en we gaan dan de Love Story socks breien. Ik vond in mijn stash een streng garen, nog geverft door Kay Jones uit 2017 met de naam Dearest Loveliest Elizabeth.
Wie kent niet het prachtige romantische verhaal Pride and Prejudice van Jane Austen met in de hoofdrol Elizabeth en Mr. Darcy. Ik denk dat dit het perfekte garen is voor deze sokken.

Kay Jones starts Valenvent on February 1 and we will knit the Love Story socks. I found a skein of yarn in my stash, dyed by Kay Jones from 2017 called Dearest Loveliest Elizabeth.
Who doesn't know the beautiful romantic story Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen starring Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy. I think this is the perfect yarn for these socks.

Ik had bij Therese Notenboom ook een aantal garens opgespaard en die afgelopen week laten opsturen. Ik had een bundel mini strengen gekocht, altijd handig voor boord, hakken of tenen in sokken.

I had also saved up some yarns at Therese Notenboom and had them sent last week. I had bought a bundle of mini skeins, always useful for cuffs, heels or toes in socks.

Verder nog een zeer kleurrijke streng, 2 zelfstrepende (links) en een mooie sokset.

Afgelopen week ook terug op controle geweest bij huisarts. Ze had 6 weken geleden de medicatie verhoogd voor de traagwerkende schildklier en ik had opnieuw bloed moeten laten prikken. Na het zien van de uitslag (medicijn had niet genoeg gedaan) is de medicatie nogmaals verhoogd.
Verder is ook de pregabaline voor de neuropathie verdubbeld, ik merk nu al dat de zenuwpijn echt afgenomen is, niet steeds die zeurende pijn hebben is fijn. Ze wil wel dat ik over 3 maanden hiermee stop en dan kijken of de zenuwpijn weg blijft. Zo niet dan zal ik terug deze medicatie gaan innemen. Woensdag moet ik ook met een dieët gaan beginnen want aanstaande maandag heb ik de gastroscopie en coloscopie.

I also had a check-up with the doctor last week. She had increased the medication for the underactive thyroid 6 weeks ago and I had to have blood taken again. After seeing the results (the medicine had not done enough), the medication was increased again.
Furthermore, the pregabalin for the neuropathy has also been doubled, I already notice that the nerve pain has really decreased, it is nice not to have that nagging pain all the time. She wants me to stop this in 3 months and then see if the nerve pain stays away. If not, I will go back to taking this medication. I also have to start a diet on Wednesday because next Monday I have the gastroscopy and colonoscopy.

13 januari Af en toe als lunch 2 zacht gekookte eitjes met 2 sneetjes geroosted brood. Hier kan ik zo van genieten.

Preview advent calendars

Zoals belooft heb ik hier een overzicht van de advent kalenders die ik allemaal heb en ja, ... het zijn er veel dit jaar. Twee ervan waren een last minute aanschaf toen ik zag dat deze verfsters nog enkele pakketten over hadden. Bovendien was 2024 een behoorlijk rot jaar qua gezondheid. Ik kan niet meer op mijn hand tellen hoeveel ziekenhuis bezoeken ik gehad heb dit jaar (daarover op het einde van dit bericht nog een kort verslag) en van advent kalenders wordt ik blij 💖

As promised, here is an overview of the advent calendars I have and yes, there are a lot of them this year. Two of them were a last minute purchase when I saw that these dyers still had a few packages left. Plus, 2024 was a pretty shitty year health-wise. I can no longer count on my hand how many hospital visits I have had this year (a short report on that at the end of this post) and Advent calendars make me happy 💖

Verder heb ik nog twee pakketten voor de advent zondagen, een van Atelier Sopra en een van Piratenwolle uit Duitsland. Vergeten een foto hiervan te maken maar je ziet de strengen vanzelf verschijnen.
Verder heb ik ook de geborduurde advent zakjes gevuld met verschillende chocolaatjes, 2 per zakje, want deze openen Michiel en ik samen 's avonds als we ons kopje thee uit de tweepersoons thee kalender van Frogcoffee drinken. I also have two packages for Advent Sundays, one from Atelier Sopra and one from Piratenwolle from Germany. Forgot to take a picture of this but you can see the skeins when I unwrap these each Sunday.
I also filled the embroidered Advent bags with different chocolates, 2 per bag, because Michiel and I open these together in the evening when we drink our cup of tea from the double tea calendar from Frogcoffee. In the meantime, we will have fun every day with this escape room game.

Bovenste rij: Bio snacks van My Buddy en de rechtse is een oude verpakking van Bio DM die je nu kon vullen met losse advent bio snacks van DM.
Onderste rij is links de kalender voor Mees en rechts de Bonne Maman kalender die ik twee jaar geleden ook had.
Daarnaast heb ik nog de DM en Cupper thee kalender zoals elk jaar en de Yogi kalender die ik voor mijn verjaardag van de kinderen kreeg. Genoeg thee weer, heerlijk !

Afgelopen zaterdag waren wij ook naar The Log Cabin geweest die een kerstmarkt had op de binnenplaats. Er stond een meneer die allemaal verschillende dingen maakte van hout, veel kersthangers maar ook deze kleine paddenstoelen op een berkstammetje, ik was meteen verliefd en het mocht mee naar huis.

Vriendin Elly stond er ook met allerlei maaksels en we kochten de sneeuwpop en de chipmunk. Het beertje kregen we cadeau van haar als kerstcadeautje.

Last Saturday we also went to The Log Cabin which had a Christmas market in the courtyard. There was a gentleman who made all kinds of different things out of wood, lots of Christmas hangers but also these little mushrooms on a birch trunk, I immediately fell in love and was allowed to take it home.
Friend Elly was also there with all kinds of crafts and we bought the snowman and the chipmunk. We received the bear from her as a Christmas present.

Ook kocht ik twee soorten kerststof, hiervan maakte ik de volgende dag een project tasje. Deze gebruik ik voor het advent project van de Bakery Bears dat over een paar dagen begint. Ze geven ons (de patrons) weer 24 advent video's, elke dag genieten. Het thema dit jaar is Country Christmas en Kay leest voor uit het boek Classic Christmas Stories van Louisa May Alcott.
De twee strengen garens die ik gebruik zijn uit mijn voorraad en zijn van Herbstblatt Regina.

I also bought two types of Christmas fabric, which I used to make a project bag the next day. I'm using this for the Bakery Bears' Advent project that starts in a few days. They give us (the patrons) 24 Advent videos again, to enjoy every day. The theme this year is Country Christmas and Kay will read from the book Classic Christmas Stories by Louisa May Alcott.

Omdat mijn lijf momenteel niet echt meewerkt heeft Michiel de tuintafel dit jaar versierd. Het ziet er weer zo gezellig uit, vooral 's avonds als de kaarsjes en lichtjes aangaan.

Because my body is not really cooperating at the moment, Michiel decorated the garden table this year. It looks so cozy again, especially in the evening when the candles and little lights come on.

Ik moet nog een paar naalden breien aan het laatste kindersokje en dan zijn de sokjes af voor de kleindochters die ik met kerst geef. Loïs (3), de jongste kleindochter, vroeg van de week of ik dekentjes kon maken voor haar poppenhuis stapelbed. Dus ik heb tussendoor al een dekentje gehaakt. De andere haak ik komende week. Ze was er helemaal blij mee toen ik het gisteren gaf.

I still have to knit a few more rows on the last children's sock and then the socks will be finished for the granddaughters I am giving for Christmas. Loïs (3), the youngest granddaughter, asked this week if I could make blankets for her dollhouse bunk bed. So I already crocheted a blanket in between. I'll crochet the other one next week. She was very happy with it when I gave it yesterday.

Gisteren kwam ook het december garen pakketje van S7ors binnen. Ik had dit keer de 5 mini strengen met de 50 grams streng. De kleuren zijn weer schitterend.

The December yarn club from S7ors also arrived yesterday. This time I had the 5 mini skeins with the 50 gram skein. The colors are beautiful again.

Afgelopen week was ik voor de zoveelste keer op controle bij de mdl arts en hij zag dat het ijzer tekort weer steeds groter wordt. Begin van het jaar had ik ook al een ijzerinfuus nodig. Ik krijg aankomende dinsdag opnieuw een ijzerinfuus en op 27 januari krijg ik opnieuw een endoscopie en een gastroscopie die hij tegelijkertijd uitvoert. Hij wil nogmaals kijken of er nergens oppervlakkige adertjes zijn die  bloedingen kunnen veroorzaken, waardoor ik een ijzertekort blijf houden. Ook 2025 begint dus weer met ziekenhuis bezoeken 😌.

En voor ik het vergeet ... mocht iemand toch willen klagen over dat ik teveel advent kalenders heb, schrijf gerust een reactie, ik lees ze met een glimlach.

Last week I had a check-up with the gastroenterologist for the umpteenth time and he saw that the iron deficiency is increasing again. At the beginning of the year I also needed an iron infusion. I will have another iron infusion next Tuesday and on January 27 I will have another endoscopy and a gastroscopy that he will perform at the same time. He wants to check again whether there are any superficial veins that could cause bleeding, which would cause me to continue to have an iron deficiency. So 2025 will also start with hospital visits again 😌.
And before I forget... if anyone wants to complain about the fact that I have too many advent calendars, feel free to write a comment, I will read them with a smile.

Lancaster Diamonds and more

Lancaster Diamonds? Wat zijn dat ook alweer zul je je afvragen. Dat zijn de blokjes van de Lancaster Diamond Sampler van Ann Holte. De laatste die ik liet zien waren de diamantjes voor rij K en dat was in april 2018. Hoog tijd dus om ermee verder te gaan en in 2 weken heb ik rij L helemaal af. 

Lancaster Diamonds? What are those again you may ask. Those are the blocks of the Lancaster Diamond Sampler by Ann Holte. The last one I showed were the diamonds for row K and that was in April 2018. So it was high time to continue with it and in 2 weeks I finished row L.

Er zijn ook nog een paar dingen waarover ik het nog niet gehad heb, zoals Mees die op 29 augustus slaagde voor de cursus Brugklas. Hij heeft nu 2 cursussen gehad en beide goed afgesloten.

There are also a few things that I haven't mentioned yet, such as Mees who passed his first grade exam (secondary school) on August 29. He has now had 2 courses and both completed well.

Wanneer ik bij de dierenwinkel ben geweest, dan kan ik het niet laten om iets lekkers mee te brengen voor Mees. Zo lag hij op 7 september, een heel zonnige dag, te genieten op zijn handdoek in de tuin van zijn lekkernij.

When I've been to the pet store, I can't resist bringing Mees something tasty. For example, on September 7, a very sunny day, he was enjoying his delicacy on his towel in the garden.

Eind augustus had ik ook mijn 4e rij van de Jelly Roll blanket van Kay Jones af, die ik hoofdzakelijk brei met Fabel van Drops. De lengte is 150 cm.

Op 6 augustus ontving ik deze mooie streng met 2 mini's. Ik had dit gewonnen bij Rosygarn op Instagram. Natuurlijk moest ik direct een paar sokken opzetten, want ik wilde graag zien hoe het eruit ziet als het gebreid is. Dit worden de Promenade sokken van Kay Jones.

On August 6, I received this beautiful skein with 2 minis. I had won this at Rosygarn on Instagram. Of course I immediately had to cast on a pair of socks, because I wanted to see what it would look like when it was knitted. These will be the Promenade socks from Kay Jones.

En ook dit wolletje van vmcjknitwear (op IG) wilde ik even uitproberen, het is alpaca met Peruaanse hoogland wol en polyamide. Het patroon is Clementine sokken van Kay Jones. De stekenmarkeerder is ook van vmcjknitwear. 

And I also wanted to try this wool from vmcjknitwear (on IG), it's alpaca with Peruvian highland wool and polyamide. The pattern is Clementine socks from Kay Jones. The stitch marker is also from vmcjknitwear.

Aan beide sokken ga ik binnenkort verder, want op 1 september moest ik aan de slag met iets anders. De school begon namelijk weer op Hogwarts, dus tijd om een paar Back to Hogwarts sokken te breien.
Het garen is van de Harry Potter club van Nicole C Mendez in de kleur Fawkes (Felix de Feniks).

Op 14 september had ik 1 Back to Hogwarts sok af, maar ook 1 Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans sok. Deze laatste is gebreid met Supersocke 4-fach van Online in de kleur 2679. De 2e van beide sokken wordt ook binnenkort gebreid.

Volgens mij heb ik nu alles laten zien wat ik nog niet gepost had. Wat staat er allemaal nog op de planning? Ik wil nog wat diamanten maken voor de Lancaster Diamond en komende week wil ik beginnen met een kerstquilt. Ik kocht afgelopen week bij Patch and Stitch een panel van Beatrix Potter (met 2 FQ's die ik ga gebruiken voor project tasjes). Het panel was razend snel uitverkocht (sorry voor de wat donkere foto's).

I think I've now shown everything I hadn't posted yet. What else is planned? I want to make some more diamonds for the Lancaster Diamond and next week I want to start a Christmas quilt. Last week I bought a panel of Beatrix Potter at Patch and Stitch (with 2 FQ's that I will use for project bags). The panel sold out very quickly (sorry for the some what dark pictures).

Gisteren en zaterdag was ik bezig met het bedenken van allerlei ontwerpen voor de kerstquilt, maar uiteindelijk vond ik een simpel patroon (biesjes rondom elke afbeelding) toch het mooiste. Aankomende zaterdag ga ik stofjes kopen voor de rest van deze quilt en dan kan ik beginnen. Hier nog wat foto's van de plaatjes.

Yesterday and Saturday I was busy coming up with all kinds of designs for the Christmas quilt, but in the end I liked a simple pattern (sashings around each image) the best. This Saturday I'm going to buy fabrics for the rest of this quilt and then I can start. Here are some more pictures of the drawings.
