Simplicity - Little Sheep Virtues

Het was de hoogste tijd om weer eens een schaapje te borduren. Simplicity (Eenvoud) is het 6e schaapje uit de Little Sheep Virtues van Little House Needleworks.

It was high time to stitch another sheep. Simplicity is the 6th sheep from the Little Sheep Virtues from Little House Needleworks.

Het schaapje is weer met chenille garen geborduurd, dit koop ik altijd bij Hand Dyed Fibers (de FINE versie). Ook komen er 2 bijen knoopjes opgenaaid.

The sheep is again stitched with chenille thread, which I always buy at Hand Dyed Fibers (FINE version). It also has 2 wee mosey bee buttons.

Dit keer vond ik een mooi citaat van Charles Dudley Warner (1829 – 1900). Hij was een Amerikaans essayist, schrijver en vriend van Mark Twain, met wie hij samen de roman The Gilded Age: A Tale of Today schreef.

This time I found a beautiful quote from Charles Dudley Warner (1829 – 1900). He was an American essayist, novelist, and friend of Mark Twain, with whom he co-authored the novel The Gilded Age: A Tale of Today.

Faith - Little Sheep Virtues

Met dit 5e schaapje uit de Little Sheep Virtues van LHN ben ik weer helemaal bij en nu is het wachten tot het volgende schaapje op de deurmat valt.

Dit is het Faith schaapje (Vertrouwen/Geloof) en Diane van LHN heeft gekozen voor een schaapje met donkere vacht, want, zoals ze zelf zegt, zelfs in donkere tijden moet je blijven geloven dat het goed komt. Dit zal het enige schaapje zijn in de serie die een donkere vacht heeft.

With this 5th sheep from the Little Sheep Virtues of LHN I complete all of them that I had in my house, so now its waiting for the next to be delivered.

This is sheep Faith and Diane from LHN has choosen for a sheep with a dark coat, because, as she said, even in the darkest hour ... have faith. This will be the only sheep in the series with a dark coat.

Al mijn schaapjes zijn met roomwit chenille garen geborduurd, maar helaas had ik voor dit schaapje geen andere kleur  in huis. Wel had ik bruin wisper garen liggen en zodoende heeft dit schaapje nu geen chenille, maar een mohair vachtje ;-) Ook worden er 2 sterren knoopjes opgenaaid.

All of my sheep are stitched with creamy white chenille thread, unfortunately I didn't have any other color for this sheep in my stash. I did have brown wisper thread, so this sheep doesn't have a chenille but a mohair coat :-) Also I'm going to attach two star buttons.

Er zijn hele mooie citaten te vinden over de deugd Vertrouwen/Geloof, maar die van Martin Luther King Jr. sprak mij het meeste aan. Martin Luther King Jr. (1929-1968) was een Amerikaanse baptistische dominee, politiek leider en een van de meest prominente leden van de Amerikaanse burgerrechtenbeweging.

There are a lot of beautiful quotes about Faith, but the one from Martin Luther King Jr. spoke to me the most. Martin Luther King Jr. (1929-1968) was an American clergyman, activist and leader in the African-American Civil Rights Movement.

Courage - Little Sheep Virtues

Om weer bij te komen met de schaapjes heb ik meteen maar weer de volgende geborduurd. Dit is het Courage (Moed) schaapje en het is de 4e uit de Little Sheep Virtues serie van LHN.

Because I had to stitch some more sheep, I did another. This is the Courage sheep and its the 4th from the Little Sheep Virtues series by LHN.

Het schaapje is weer met chenille garen geborduurd en er komen 2 lavendel kleurige bloemenknoopjes opgenaaid.

The sheep is again stitched with chenille thread and this time it has 2 lovely lavender bud buttons.

Dit keer vond ik een mooi citaat van Winston Churchill (1874-1965), een Brits politicus die ook een tijd premier is geweest.

De bloem/plant die bij de deugd Moed hoort is de Bernagie.

The flower/plant that belongs to the virtue Courage is the Borage.

Peace - Little Sheep Virtues

Het heeft even geduurd maar inmiddels is het 3e schaapje uit de Little Sheep Virtues serie van LHN af. Dit keer is het schaapje Peace (vrede).

It took awhile but I finished my 3th sheep of the Little Sheep Virtues from LHN. This time its sheep Peace.

Het schaapje is wederom geborduurd met chenille garen zodat die een echt wollig vachtje heeft en het knoopje is dit keer een vogeltje met een hartje op zijn lijf.

The sheep again is stitch with chenille thread so it has a woolly coat and the button this time is a small sweet heart bird.

Deze keer komt het citaat van Moeder Teresa (1910-1997), ik denk dat iedereen deze prachtige dame wel kent ...

De bloem/plant die bij de deugd Vrede horen zijn witte klaproos, hazelaar en een olijftakje. Ik koos als achtergrond voor het citaat van Moeder Teresa de witte klaproos.

The flower/plant that belongs to the virtue Peace are a white poppy, hazel and olive branch. I choose as a background for the quote from Mother Teresa the white poppy.

Love - Little Sheep Virtues

Het 2e schaapje uit de 12 delige Little Sheep Virtues serie van Little House Needleworks is ook af, dit keer is het Love (liefde).

The second sheep of the 12 part Little Sheep Virtues series from Little House Needleworks is finished, this time it is Love.

De schaapjes zijn weer geborduurd met chenille garen en het knoopje dit keer een een klein wit roosje.

The sheep are again stitched with chenille and the button is a small white rose.

De citaat is dit keer van Voltaire, pseudoniem van François-Marie Arouet (1694 - 1778), was een Frans schrijver, essayist en filosoof.

Hope - Little Sheep Virtues

Het "Hope" (Hoop) schaapje is af, de eerste uit de 12 delige Little Sheep Virtues serie van Little House Needleworks en als je al verliefd op schaapjes kunt worden dan ben ik "in love".

Sheep "Hope" is finished, the first of the 12 part Little Sheep Virtues series from Little House Needleworks and if you already can fall in love with sheep, then I'm "in love".

Nu vind ik het enorm leuk om geborduurde schaapjes ook een echt wollige vacht te geven en daarom borduur ik die met chenille garen, die ik altijd koop bij Hand dyed fibers. De button ligt er nog los op, die zet ik pas vast als alle 12 deeltjes erop staan.

I like it when I have to stitch sheep, to give them a wooly look and thats why I stitch them with chenille thread, which I always buy at Hand dyed fibers. The button I haven't attached yet, that I'm going to do when all 12 parts are finished.

Er zijn veel citaten van bekende mensen te vinden over de deugden (virtues). Ik ga bij elk nieuw deel er één opschrijven die ik mooi vindt en plaats die dan op de achtergrond van een bloem/plant die bij die deugd hoort.
Deze keer is het er een van Emily Dickinson (1830-1886), een Amerikaanse dichteres.

There are a lot of quotes written by famous people about the virtues. With each new part I'm going to write one down that I like, on a background of the flower/plant that goes with that virtue.

This time I choose one from Emily Dickinson (1830-1886), a American poet.

De bloem/plant die bij "Hoop" hoort, is de bloeiende amandelboom en het sneeuwklokje. Ik koos als achtergrond voor de citaat van Emily Dickinson het sneeuwklokje.

The flower/plant that belongs to "Hope" is the flowering almond and the snowdrop. I choose as a background for the quote from Emily Dickinson the snowdrop.

New project & a winner

Little House Needleworks is weer begonnen met een nieuw 12 maanden project; Little Sheep Virtues. Een jaar lang komt er elke maand een patroontje uit, waar tenminste 1 schaap, 1 deugd (virtue) en 1 hart op staat en een button om op te naaien, als je dat wilt. 

Inmiddels is het eerste schaapje binnen en ik heb besloten om ze op 1 lap (Zweigart linnen 28 ct. Cashel Toasted Almond) te borduren in plaats van ze apart te maken en ook ga ik elke maand de button erbij kopen.

Little House Needleworks is started with a new 12 months project; Little Sheep Virtues. For one year each month there is going to be a pattern with at least 1 sheep, 1 virtue and 1 heart and an optional button.

I received the first sheep and I have decided to stitch them on one piece of fabric (Zweigart linen 28 ct. Cashel Toasted Almond) instead of doing them separated. I also going to buy the button each month.

Op haar site kun je zien welke kleuren er gebruikt gaan worden voor dit project. Ik heb besloten om twee kleuren te veranderen, namelijk Ecru wordt 3865 en de blauwe 924 wordt 930. De schaapjes zelf ga ik borduren met .... dat is nog even een verrassing :-) Inmiddels staan de eerste steekjes erop.

On her site you can read which colors will be used in this project. I have decided to change two colors, namely Ecru will be 3865 and the blue 924 is going to be 930. The sheep itself I'm going to stitch with ... that is for now a surprise :-) In the mean time, the first stitches are done.

Een deugd (virtue) kan een positieve eigenschap zijn waar een bepaald persoon over beschikt. Het kan ook duiden op een ethisch goede manier van handelen. De deugden (virtues) die zullen verschijnen zijn: Hoop - Liefde - Vrede - Moed - Geloof - Eenvoud - Geduld - Wijsheid - Vriendschap - Vriendelijkheid - Dankbaarheid - Vreugde.

A virtue is a positive trait or quality deemed to be morally good and thus is valued as a foundation of principle and good moral being. Personal virtues are characteristics valued as promoting collective and individual greatness. The virtues that will be on the patterns are: Hope - Love - Peace - Courage - Faith - Simplicity - patience - Wisdom - Friendship - Kindness - Gratitude - Joyfulness.

En dan is het nu tijd om de winnaar bekend te maken voor het patroon uit het vorig berichtje. De winnaar die uit de hoge hoed kwam is ...
