Advent day 13 and Happy birthday Lana

 
Vandaag 13 december wordt onze oudste kleindochter Lana 2 jaar. Het is zo'n heerlijk kind, een echt mensenkind dat geniet van iedereen. Vanmiddag gaan we naar haar toe, want een jarige verdiend een cadeau toch? Gefeliciteerd lieve Lana. Morgen zal ik een foto van de jarige posten.

Today December 13, our oldest granddaughter Lana turns 2 years old. She is such a wonderful child, a real human child who enjoys everyone. We are going to her this afternoon, because a birthday girl deserves a present, right? Congratulations dear Lana. Tomorrow I will post a picture of the birthday girl.

Advent day 12

Ik kijk Formule 1 terwijl Michiel naar vliegveld Eindhoven rijdt. Lindy, Kyle en hun 2 dochters komen vanmiddag terug van een paar dagen Engeland. Ze hebben een bezoekje aan Kyle zijn familie gebracht. Michiel zal zo meteen wel de wedstrijd terug gaan kijken, want wat was het spannend tot de laatste ronde. Max heeft het gedaan en is wereldkapioen geworden !

I watch Formula 1 while Michiel drives to Eindhoven airport. Lindy, Kyle and their 2 daughters are returning from a few days in England this afternoon. They paid a visit to Kyle's family. Michiel will watch the match when he gets home, because it was so exciting until the last round. Max did it and became world champion!

Vandaag achter het raampje van de kalender gekregen van mijn petekind Amy weer een foto van lang geleden. Dit is Senna, mijn eerste jack russell terrier, een hond die kon spreken met zijn ogen. Overleden in augustus 2005 aan een hartafwijking, hij is net geen 10 jaar geworden .

Deel 5 van de sokken heet Barnyard gate (boerenerf poort).
Ma en Laura gaan samen naar de koe want die moet gemolken worden. Laura draagt de lantaarn die het pad voor hen verlicht. Aan gekomen bij het hek vinden ze het raar dat de koe buiten staat in plaats van in de schuur en ma streelt de koe zachtjes. Maar dan komen ze tot de ontdekking dat het een beer is en ze rennen samen heel hard terug naar hun huis.

Part 5 of the socks is called Barnyard gate.
Ma and Laura go together to the cow because it has to be milked. Laura carries the lantern that lights the path in front of them. Arriving at the gate they find it strange that the cow is outside instead of in the barn and Mom gently strokes the cow. But then they discover that it is a bear and they run back to their house together.

Third Advent Sunday

Op deze 3e advent zondag worden er 3 kaarsen aangestoken. Ook mogen er weer 2 extra pakjes open gemaakt worden, dus ook 2 berichtjes vandaag.

On this 3rd Advent Sunday, 3 candles are lit. 2 extra packages can also be opened, that means also 2 messages today.

De eerste is weer van Nicole C Mendez, het is een zelfstrepende kerstkleur.  Vandaag is het de kleur Candy Cane.

De tweede is van Little Bishes Stitches. Dit is de kleur Cruela de Vil. Wat zal deze leuk zijn met een rode mini streng, ik zie het al voor me.

Beide zijn 100 grams strengen en wat gaan dit weer super sokken worden. Als ze me vandaag zouden vragen wat het leukste om te breien is dan zeg ik volmondig sokken met op de 2e plaats sjaals. Dit had ik enkele jaren geleden nooit gedacht.

Both are 100 gram skeins and these are going to be nice socks again. When they ask me today what the best thing to knit is, I say wholeheartedly socks with shawls in second place. I would never have thought this a few years ago.

Advent day 11

 Vanmiddag heb ik kerstcadeau's ingepakt voor de kleindochters. Ik hou van tradities en vorig jaar ben ik daar al mee begonnen door elk van de kleindochters een nijntje kerstbal te geven (Loïs was toen nog niet geboren). Dit jaar krijgen ze weer iets voor in hun kerstboom, een houten hanger met hun naam erop. Daarnaast ga ik ze elk jaar een leesboek geven en als 3e cadeau iets van speelgoed, dit jaar krijgen ze elk een super leuke knuffel.

This afternoon I wrapped Christmas presents for the granddaughters. I like traditions and last year I started doing that by giving each of the granddaughters a Miffy bauble (Loïs was not yet born then). This year they get something for their Christmas tree again, a wooden hanger with their name on it. In addition, I will give them a reading book every year and as a 3rd gift something to play with, this year they each get a nice soft toy.

Vandaag achter het raampje van de kalender gekregen van mijn petekind Amy een foto van een paar jaar geleden. Onze Bowy nog vrolijk rondrennend door het hoge gras. Helaas is hij vorig jaar augustus gestorven, hij is ruim 15 jaar geworden.

Advent day 10

 Gisteravond om 18.30 uur deed ik de verwarming 1 graadje hoger zetten omdat fris begon te worden, maar ruim 1 uur later was het nog steeds koud. De verwarming deed het niet meer. We kregen wel warm water maar geen warme radiatoren. Het bedrijf gebeld dat over de verwarmingsketel gaat en ze zouden iemand in de ochtend sturen. Om 9 uur stond de monteur aan de deur en nadat hij er een uur aan gewerkt had, werd het weer warm in huis. Het bleek dat de printerplaat kapot was.

Last night at 6.30 pm I turned the heating up 1 degree because it was starting to get chilly, but more than 1 hour later it was still cold. The heating stopped working. We did get hot water but no hot radiators. Called the company that handles the boiler and they said they would send someone in the morning. At 9 o'clock the mechanic was at the door and after he had worked for an hour, the house became warm again. It turned out that the printer board was broken.

Pa ziet een beer honing uit een boom halen en jaagt de beer weg. Daarna hakt hij de boom om en haalt er alle heldere honing uit, de rest laat hij zitten.

Dad sees a bear getting honey from a tree and chases the bear away. Then he cuts down the tree and takes out all the clear honey, leaving the rest.

Advent day 9

Michiel bracht gisteren een rollator mee naar huis die ik 's avonds kan gebruiken om met hem mee te lopen als hij Mees uitlaat. Op deze manier kan ik toch naar buiten en bouw ik mijn conditie langzaam op. De rollator heb ik echt nodig omdat ik vaak mijn evenwicht nog niet kan houden.

Yesterday Michiel brought home a walker that I can use in the evening to walk with him when he takes Mees out for a walk. This way I can still go outside and slowly build up my condition. I really need the walker because I often still can't keep my balance.

Vandaag achter het raampje van de kalender gekregen van mijn petekind Amy een foto die gemaakt is ergens tussen 1976 en 1979. Te zien zijn mijn ouders Cor en Annie, samen met Boef onze poedel. Wij noemden ze ook vaak C&A wat ze wel grappig vonden. Helaas overleed mijn moeder veel te vroeg op 30 september 2001, ze was net 65 jaar geworden.

Today is behind the window of the calendar given to me by my godchild Amy a  photo which was made somewhere between 1976 and 1979. On there are my parents Cor and Annie, together with Boef our poodle. We often called them C&A (a very famous shop in the Netherlands) which they thought was funny. Unfortunately, my mother passed away much too early on September 30, 2001, she had just turned 65.

Het breien ging zo lekker gisteren dat deel 3 dat, Christmas visitors (kerstbezoek) heet, af is.
Met kerst krijgen ze bezoek van tantes, ooms, neven en nichten die komen per paard en slee. Overdag spelen de kinderen buiten en maken plaatjes in de sneeuw door zich erin te laten vallen.

The knitting went so well yesterday that part 3, called Christmas visitors, is finished.
At Christmas they are visited by aunts, uncles and cousins ??who come by horse and sleigh. During the day, the children play outside and make pictures in the snow by dropping into it.

Het 3e breipatroon (Christmas visitors) stelt de slee sporen in de sneeuw voor.

Nu er 1 week voorbij is, wil ik even kijken hoe me de inhoud van de kalenders tot nu toe bevalt. Over de garen en stofjes kalenders ben ik zeer tevreden. De jam kalender is echt verrassend lekker en de bio van DM vind ik super, tot nu toe zaten er heerlijke producten in. Dan de thee kalenders, die met de losse theesoorten van de Theespecialist is tot nu toe een aanrader, de English Teashop thee vind ik tegenvallen. Maar de kalender van Mees spant de kroon, wij zijn steeds verrast wat daar in zit, zakjes die echt goed gevult zijn met 3 tot 4 mooie heerlijke grote snacks.

Now that 1 week has passed, I want to see how I like the content of the calendars so far. I am very satisfied with the yarn and fabric calendars. The jam calendar is really surprisingly tasty and I think the bio of DM is great, so far there were delicious products in it. Then the tea calendars, the one with the loose teas from the Tea Specialist has so far been recommended, I find the English Teashop tea disappointing. But Mees's calendar is amazing, we are always surprised what is in it, bags that are really well filled with 3 to 4 beautiful, delicious large snacks.

Advent day 7

 Gisteren is Nathalie geweest voor de oedeemtherapie en ze had nog wat zoekwerk verricht naar hoe het zat met moeilijk kunnen lopen na een corona besmetting. Nu blijkt dat corona, net als je reuk en smaakorgaan, ook je gevoelszenuwen kan aantasten en als dit is dan sturen de zenuwen verkeerde info naar de hersenen waardoor je moeilijk loopt en niet goed je evenwicht kunt houden. ze denkt dat dit bij mij ook het geval is.

Yesterday Nathalie came for edema therapy and she had done some research into how it could be that you walk difficult after a corona infection. Now it turns out that corona, just like your sense of smell and taste, can also affect your sensory nerves and if this is the case, the nerves send wrong info to the brain, making it difficult to walk and unable to keep your balance. she thinks this is the case with me too.

Vandaag achter het raampje van de kalender gekregen van mijn petekind Amy een foto van heel wat jaren geleden. Te zien is Sinto, onze jack russel die we tegelijkertijd met Bowy en Bob hadden. Helaas is Sinto maar iets meer dan 5 jaar oud geworden.

Pa is vlees aan het roken en gebruikt daarvoor Hickory chips (Dit rookhout geeft een sterke, zoete, rokerige bacon smaak).

Dad is smoking meat and uses hickory chips (This smoking wood gives a strong, sweet, smoky bacon flavour).
