Date operation and garden pictures

Tot op heden heb ik nog steeds niet gequilt. Afgelopen zondag was de laatste dag dat we gewerkt hebben in ons pap zijn oude huisje. Alles is eruit, opgeruimd en het huis gepoetst. Ik merk aan mijn lichaam dat ik een week goed gewerkt heb, want ik ben moe, echt moe en mijn rug doet zeer. Deze week doe ik niets anders dan goed uitrusten. Ik heb zelfs de fut niet om een quiltblokje te maken.

Till today I still haven't quilt. Last sunday was the last day of working in our dads old home. Everything is cleared out and all the rooms are clean. My body now gives my troubles because of the fibromyalgia, I'm very tired and my back hurts. This week I'm going to give my body rest, I'm too tired to even make a quiltblock.

Wat ik er gisteren niet bijschreef over mijn afspraak met de anesthesie, was dat ik zelf contact had opgenomen, omdat het al 4 weken geleden was dat ik de uitslag van de biopsie kreeg. De arts had mijn afspraak bij anesthesie op "on hold" gezet, omdat ze eerst de uitslag van de biopsie wilde afwachten. 

What I didn't write yesterday was, that I called the hospital myself, asking why I didn't had a date for my appointment. Because it was 4 weeks ago that I got my results of the biopsy. The doctor had my appointment for meeting the anesthesia set on "on hold", because he first wanted to wait for the results of the biopsy.

Toen op 15 juni bleek dat dit tijdens dezelfde ingreep kon plaats vinden, hadden ze het "on hold" weer weggehaald, maar de afdeling anesthesie heeft dit niet opgemerkt. Dat is ook de reden dat ik nog steeds geen oproep gekregen had. Ze kwamen daar maandag dus achter doordat ik zelf belde en daardoor werd ik met spoed ingepland voor aanstaande dinsdag.

 Then when my results showed that it could be done in the same operation, they remove the "on hold" in the computer, but the department anesthesia didn't notice that. So that was the reason why i didn't have a date for that appointment. They saw this error on monday because I called and ask about a date and that's why they urgently scheduled me for  coming tuesday.

Maar gisteren ging opnieuw de telefoon en dit keer was het de oncologie gynaecoloog zelf.  Hij belde me persoonlijk op om excuses aan te bieden over hoe het gelopen was. Hij vond het heel vervelend voor me en heeft me ook met spoed ingepland voor de ingreep. Deze is de dag na mijn gesprek met de anesthesie. De ingreep zal dan zijn op woensdag 22 juli 's morgens, zodat ik later op de dag naar huis mag. Daarom deze week maar even goed uitrusten.

But yesterday I also got a call from my oncology gynecologist and he apologized about the way everything has go wrong with the appointments. He found it very annoying for me and has also rushed to scheduled the procedure. This is the day after my conversation with anesthesia. The procedure will be on wednesday 22 july in the morning, so that I may go home later in the day. So another good reason to give my body a good rest this week.

Summer Pincushion and hospital news

Het speldenkussen dat ik voor de give away gemaakt heb (zie bericht gisteren), is  een gratis patroon van SubRosa (klik). Het heet Summer Pincushion 1 en ik borduurde het op 28 ct. in thee geverfd evenweave met 1 draadje. Onder de foto is te lezen welke kleuren ik gebruikt heb.

Dit patroon staat helaas niet op haar blog, maar op een speciale groep op facebook. Op haar blog vind je wel heel veel andere mooie freebies.

 The pincushion I made for my give away (see message yesterday), is done with a free pattern from SubRosa (click). Its called Summer Pincushion 1 and I stitched it on 28 ct. tea-dyed evenweave with 1 thread. Under the picture you can read what colors I used.

This pattern you can't find on her blog because she posted it on a special facebook group. But if you look at her blog, you can find many beautiful patterns.

Dan heb ik gistermiddag eindelijk bericht gekregen over mijn afspraak met de anesthesist. Ik kan daar volgende week dinsdag, 21 juli, om 9 uur 's morgens terecht. De ingreep zelf zal spoedig daarna plaats vinden, hierover krijg ik nog bericht

Yesterday afternoon I finally got a message from the hospital about my appointment with the anesthetist. This will be at july 21 at 9 am. The operation itself will take place soon after that, they will send me a message then.

Give Away July

Not much quilting

Al enige dagen heb ik niet gequilt, dat komt omdat we mijn vader aan het verhuizen waren. Hij woont sinds gisteren in een zorgcentrum omdat hij teveel hulp nodig heeft met alles. Gelukkig wilde hij er zelf ook graag heen.
Nu moeten we de komende dagen nog zijn oude woning uit gaan ruimen, dus de rest van de week zullen er ook niet veel quiltsteekjes gezet worden.

For some days I haven't quilted, that's because we were moving my father. He lives since yesterday in a care center/retirement home, because he needs to much help with everything. Fortunately, he also wanted to live there.
Now we have to go clear out his old home for the next few days, so the rest of the week there will be not many quilt stitches be made.

Another new project

Wat is het toch heerlijk om af en toe stout te kunnen zijn, komt vast door de hittegolf ;-) Ik had me namelijk voorgenomen om de kinderquilt eerst helemaal af te maken voordat ik aan een nieuwe begon, maar daar is een streep door getrokken.

Toen ik van de week de stofjes aan het knippen was voor blok 4, zag ik de twee blauwe lappen liggen waar ik nog meters van heb en bedacht me ineens dat die perfect waren voor de randen en sashings van The Amish Circle Quilt. Een boek dat ik ergens in 2009 al gekocht had.

What is it wonderful to occasionally being naughty, I think it is because of the heat-wave;-) I promised myself to finish the children's quilt first before I started a new one, but that is not going to happen.

While I was cutting out the fabric for block 4, I saw my two blue fabrics lying and I thought those would be wonderful for the borders and sashings of The Amish Circle Quilt. A book which I bought in 2009.

Al heel vaak heb ik dit boek doorgebladerd en ik geniet van de verhalen bij elk blok.  Het boek gaat over 11 Amish vrouwen (Rachel, Lydiann, Martha, Rebecca, Lavina, Edna, Frieda, Lavern, Ida, Regina en Miriam) die al jaren elkaar een kettingbrief sturen en nu hebben zij besloten dat, wanneer ze hun brief door sturen, zij er een 6" quilt blok bijvoegen, met betrekking tot iets dat in hun leven gebeurd tijdens die week. Meer dan 2 jaar doen ze dit, zodat er 121 quiltblokken gemaakt worden.

Many times I read in this book and I enjoy the stories. The book is about 11 Amish women (Rachel, Lydiann, Martha, Rebecca, Lavina, Edna, Frieda, Lavern, Ida, Regina and Miriam) who send a circle letter to each other for many years and now they have decided that when they sent their circle letter, they will enclose a 6" quilt block pertaining to something that happened in their lives during the week. They do it for more then 2 years, so there are 121 quilt blocks to be made.

 

Ik ga ongeveer hetzelfde kleuren schema aanhouden en gebruik alleen kleur op kleur stofjes.  Ik kon het gewoon niet laten om al een koffertje vol te stoppen met de stofjes die ik ga gebruiken en nu blok 4 af is van de kinderquilt, ga ik alvast een paar blokjes van deze quilt maken.  Daarna ga ik afwisseld werken aan de kinderquilt en The Amish Circle Quilt. Stout hé, maar wel erg leuk ;-)

I go for about the same color scheme and use only tone on tone fabrics. I  could not help myself  and filled  a suitcase with all the fabrics that I'm going to use. And now that block 4 of the children's quilt is done, I'm going to make a few blocks of this quilt. After that I will switched between the children's quilt and The Amish Circle Quilt. I'm such a naughty girl, but what fun this will be ;-)

Patch and Stitch (klik) heeft 3 open dagen met flinke zomerse korting. Korting die gelijk staat aan de temperatuur. Gistermiddag gingen wij erheen en toen was de korting maar liefst 36%. Ik kocht alvast een 100% katoenen tussenvulling voor de kinderquilt en een groene stof voor de randen. Ook kocht ik al meteen de 100% wollen tussenvulling van Quilters Dream voor The Amish Circle Quilt, want dat scheelde nu behoorlijk, ik moest tenslotte de King size maat hebben (309 x 309 cm). Dit is gewoon DE allerfijnste tussenvulling die er bestaat.

Patch and Stitch had 3 open days with a lot of discount. Discount that was equal on the outside temperature and yesterday that was 36% (it's hot here). So yesterday we went and I bought a 100% cotton batting for the children's quilt and green fabric for the borders.   I also bought a 100% woolen batting from Quilters Dream for The Amish Circle Quilt, because now I got a lot of discount and I had the have the King size (120" x 120"). This batting is the MOST wonderful batting there is.

Ik zocht nog een paar kleurtjes voor The Amish Circle Quilt  en ook daarin slaagde ik goed, maar helemaal blij was ik met de grote snijmat (90 x 60 cm), want ook die kreeg ik met 36% korting. Ik had deze al langere tijd op mijn verlanglijstje staan en ik zou wel gek geweest zijn, als ik hem nu niet had gekocht.

I also wanted to look for some colors for The Amsih Circle Quilt and I found some beautiful ones, but my treasure for that day was the big cutting mat (36" x 24"), because this also had the discount of 36%. I wanted such a cutting mat for a long time now and now I had a wonderful change for buying one at a very good prize.

En gisteravond? Toen heb ik lekker op mijn gemak het eerste blokje in elkaar gezet van The Amish Circle Quilt. Ik geef bij elk blok steeds een hele korte beschrijving uit het verhaal en de naam van de quiltster die bij dat blok hoort. De verhalen bij elk blok zijn natuurlijk veel langer, maar in verband met copyright ga ik die hier niet opschrijven.

Blok 1 De Picknick

Rachel stelt voor aan haar vrienden om voortaan bij elke brief een quiltpatroon toe te voegen. Zij maakt het blok De Picknick, omdat ze die week een gezellige familie picknick bij de vijver hebben gehad.

And last night? I began with the very first block of The Amish Circle Quilt. With each block I give a very short summary of the story and the name of the quiltster. The stories with each block are much longer, but due to copyright I don't write them here.

Block 1 The Picnic

Rachel comes with the idea to enclose a quilt pattern with each letter they send to each other. She has made the block The Picnic, because they had a family picnic by the pond.

All Around the Town block 4 - part 2

Natuurlijk wist iedereen meteen om welk liedje het ging, tenslotte komt een boze wolf niet in veel liedjes voor ;-)

Ofcourse the Dutch readers knew which song this second part of block 4 was, after all, there are not much songs with a wolf in it.

The song is about Red Riding Hood, she is going to bring her grandmother some cookies, but she has to be careful for the wolf in the woods.

Dark and scary woods

Met het 2e gedeelte van blok 4 zijn we aangekomen bij het donkere enge bos. Het is nog niet helemaal af, maar ik denk dat iedereen wel kan raden om welk kinderliedje het hier gaat ;-)

With the second part of block 4 we come to the dark and scary woods. It isn't finished yet, but I think the Dutch readers all know what children's song this will be ;-)

Happy Birthday Bowy and All Around the Town block 4 - part 1

Vandaag hebben we een verjaardags jongetje in huis en die wordt 10 jaar. Bowy gefeliciteerd !

Today we have a birthday boy and he is now 10 years. Bowy congratulations !

Het eerste kinderliedje van blok 4 was niet moeilijk te raden en dat kwam natuurlijk door de gebroken sleutel die te zien was. Gisteren kwamen daar een witte en zwarte zwaan bij geappliceerd.

The first song on block 4 wasn't difficult to guess because of the broken key. Today I added a white and black swan.

Ook wel toepasselijk die zwanen in het veld, want onze achternaam is Zwaneveld ;-) Aan de rechterkant van het blok komt liedje twee.

Very appropriate these swans in the field, because our last name is Zwaneveld (translate: Swansfield). The song is about white and black swans who want to go to England, but they can't, because the key is broken and now they are wondering if there is a smith that can repair the key.

On the right side of the block comes children's song 2.

Working on block 4

Blok 4 is weer een hoekblok van de All Around the Town quilt en dat betekent dat ik er weer 2 kinderliedjes op ga maken. Het eerste kinderliedje is nog niet helemaal af, maar wie weet kunnen jullie al raden om welk liedje het dit keer gaat.

Block 4 is again a corner block of the All Around the Town quilt and that means that I'm going to make two children's songs on this block. The first song isn't ready but maybe the Dutch readers can guess what song this will be.

De aankomende dagen wordt er een hittegolf voorspeld. Ik denk dat ik dan meer binnen dan buiten zit, want binnen is het koel en dan kan ik toch  blijven werken aan deze blokken.

The next few days they announced we are going to get a heat wave. I think that I'm staying indoors because that is much cooler than outside, so I can still work on my blocks.

All Around the Town - block 3

Let op de ramen had ik in het vorige bericht gezegd en zoals je kunt zien brandt overal het licht in huis. Behalve in het linker bovenraam, daar is het licht uit en het gordijntje dicht.

Look at the windows I said in my precious post and as you can see in all the windows you see light on. Except for the window in the left corner, there the light is out and the curtain is closed.

In dit huis wonen zoveel kinderen, dat zelfs op de 2e verdieping kinderkamers zijn en in eentje daarvan ligt een kindje te slapen. Als ik nu zeg dat buiten ook nog een schaap loopt met witte voetjes, dan raden jullie meteen om welk kinderliedje het gaat ;-)

In this house are living so much children that even on the second floor are children's rooms and in one of them is sleeping a child. Outside is a sheep with white feet and the Dutch readers now know which children's song this is.

It is a Dutch nursery rhyme about a baby that is sleeping, while outside is a sheep with white feet that drinks his milk.

Links onderaan komt nog een auto als alle blokken af zijn. Nu mag ik door met blok 4 waar ik ook al een leuk idee voor heb.

At the bottom in the left corner comes a car when all the blocks are made. Now I can start with block 4 and I already have an idea for the next children's song.

One strange window

Nadat de ramen er opnieuw opgezet waren, moesten er nog twee dakkapellen gebouwd worden. Nu deze klaar zijn, kunnen jullie misschien wel raden om welk kinderliedje het gaat? Ik zeg alleen, ... kijk goed naar de ramen ;-)

After I made the new windows, I had to make two dormers. Now they are finished the Dutch readers can start guessing which children's song this will be. They have to take a good look at the windows ;-)

Miscommunication

Maandag lag alles klaar om aan blok 3 van All Around the Town te beginnen, ...

On monday all was ready to start block 3 of the All Around the Town, ...

alle onderdelen netjes uitgeknipt en al snel was ik bezig met de vele raampjes die in dit blok komen. 

all parts where cut out and soon I was busy with the many windows that are in this block.

Je zou dan denken dat ik dit blok inmiddels wel af heb, maar nee hoor, ... er gebeurde namelijk iets ...

Miscommunicatie met mijn quiltnaald (Miscommunicatie ontstaat op het moment dat de ontvanger een boodschap anders ontvangt dan dat de zender deze bedoeld heeft.), ... dat was hier aan de hand ;-)
De quiltnaald begreep maar niet wat ik wilde en daardoor kwamen de meeste van mijn raampjes er scheef op te staan. Over en weer werden er harde woorden gesproken, maar beide bleven we eigenwijs, tot ik inzag dat deze relatie zo niet verder kon.
Ik heb hem de deur uit gezet en zijn vriend gevraagd of hij me gezelschap wilde houden. Deze nieuwe vriend begrijpt wat ik bedoel en nadat ik alle ramen verwijderd had, hebben we er samen nieuwe ingezet, tot ieders tevredenheid.
Ik wist niet dat een relatie met een quiltnaald zo intens kon zijn.

You should think that I finished the block by now, but that is not the case, because something happend ...

Miscommunication with my quilt needle (Miscommunication occurs at the time that the recipient receives a message other than that the sender intended.), ... that was going on here;-)
The quilt needle didn't understood what I wanted and as a result, most of my windows where crooked. There were harsh words spoken over and over again, but we both remained pigheaded, until I realised that this relationship didn't work anymore.
I send it out the door, and asked his friend if he wanted to keep me company. This new friend knows what I want and after I had removed  all the windows, we put new ones in, to everyone's satisfaction.
I did not know that a relationship with a quilt needle could be so intense.

Vandaag kreeg ik hele leuke post van Trini (klik) uit Spanje. Ze nam vorige week contact met me op en zei dat ze me iets wilde sturen. Zomaar, ... omdat ze mijn blog zo leuk vindt.

Ze stuurde me een prachtig naaldenmapje wat ze zelf gemaakt had. Het is schitterend gemaakt en ik ben er heel erg blij mee. Trini nogmaals bedankt !

Today I got some wonderful post from Trini (click) from Spain. She contacted me last week and said she would love to send me something because she loves my blog.

She send me a beautiful handmade needlecase. It is so beautiful and I'm realy happy with it. Trini thanks again !

All Around the Town block 2 - part 2

Sommige hadden inderdaad geraden om welk kinderliedje het ging. Er kwam namelijk nog een beer bij en wat zijn die beren aan het doen? Aan het smeren natuurlijk ;-)

Some people guessed which children's song I meant. I added another bear and what are they doing? They smear jam ;-)

In the song the singer finds it a miracle that bears can smear jam on their sandwiches.

What's the bear doing?

Op het 2e gedeelte van blok 2 komt eigenlijk alleen een groene heuvel met een auto, maar ik vond dit een te leuke plek om ook daar iets te appliceren wat een kinderliedje uitbeeldt.

Tja, ... en welk kinderliedje zou dat dan zijn?

On the 2nd part of block 2 is actually only a green hill with a car, but I found this a fun place for something to applique what a children's song too.

I'm curious of the Dutch readers can guess which song it will be.
