Sheep Day

Na de Twelve Days of Christmas gaf The Little Stitcher ons nog een freebie als dag 13. Dat is de Sheep Day (schaapjes dag).  Dit kleine borduurtje was zo af en ik heb het als ornamentje afgewerkt dat inmiddels in de boom hangt. De freebie kun je HIER (klik) vinden.

After the Twelve Days of Christmas The Little Stitcher gave us a freebie for day 13. That is the Sheep Day. I finished this as an ornament and hang it in our tree. You can find the freebie HERE (click).

Vandaag ga ik even kijken of ik de tijd vind om een pinkeep af te maken zodat ik hier morgen een tutorial over kan schrijven. Er kwamen namelijk verschillende over hoe je nu zo'n pinkeep maakt.

I'm going to look if I have time today to finish a pinkeep, so I can post a tutorial about it tomorrow. I got some questions about how to make such a pinkeep.

Quilt of Love

Bij het maken van deze quilt spelen meerdere mensen een hoofdrol. Het begon allemaal vorig jaar toen Ingrid (Supergoof) me deze jellyroll cadeau deed voor mijn 50e verjaardag.

When making this quilt  multiply people played a leading role. It all started when Ingrid (Supergoof) gave me this jellyroll for my 50th birthday last year.

Ik wilde er iets leuks mee maken maar een idee bleef uit, tot afgelopen week. Ik zag een filmpje op youtube over het maken van een jellyroll quilt in 1 uur en ik vond het patroon superleuk. Woensdag nam ik de jellyroll en haalde hem helemaal uit elkaar, flink husselen die strips en ik kon begonnen ...

In korte tijd stonden alle strips aan elkaar en kon ik banen aan elkaar gaan naaien. Maar toen ik de eerste baan had gedaan en ik even een rustpauze nam, klonk er ineens die harde knal en kwam er veel witte rook uit de machine. De machine had het begeven ...

In no-time the strips where sewed together and I could sew rows. But when I had sewed the first row and I took a break, I heard a big Bam and white smoke came out of the machine. The sewing machine was dead ...

Ik schreef het op facebook en meteen belde vriendin Trees me op, om te zeggen dat zij nog de naaimachine van onze overleden vriendin Gerry bij haar had staan. Die kon ik komen halen om de quilt af te maken en als ik de machine goed vond naaien, dan mocht ik hem zelfs houden.

De volgende dag reden we naar Trees en 's avonds ging ik verder met de quilt. De naaimachine van Gerry naaide geweldig, nog beter als de machine van mezelf die in rook was opgegaan. Ik weet zeker dat Gerry vanaf haar wolkje heeft zitten glunderen. De banen stonden diezelfde avond nog aan elkaar.

I wrote on facebook about my sewing machine and my friend Trees called me to say that she had the sewing machine of our passed away friend Gerry in her attic. I could have that machine so I could finish this quilt and if I liked sewing on this machine I could have it for all the time.

The next day we went to Trees to pick up the machine and in the evening I started again with the quilt. The sewing machine was wonderful, it even sewed better then my old one that went into smoke. I know Gerry has smiled from her cloud above. That same evening I finished all the rows.

Gistermiddag reden we dan ook naar Stitch and Patch omdat ik een stofje wilde als smalle border zodat ik de volgende rand erom kon zetten. Het werd een blauw stofje want dat paste er het mooist bij. Ook nam ik een heerlijke katoenen tussenvulling mee voor deze quilt.

's Avonds ging ik verder en het blauwe randje stond er weer zo aan. Daarna nam ik 2 charmpacks van dezelfde serie die ik nog had liggen en naaide rondom blokjes als border.

 Diezelfde avond stond de quilttop, waar meerdere mensen een hoofdrol in hebben gespeeld, dan ook helemaal in elkaar en ik vind hem geweldig geworden. Ik heb hem dan ook Quilt of Love genoemd.

Yesterdag afternoon we went to Stitch and Patch because I needed a fabric for making a small border, so I could make the last border. I bought a blue fabric for that and I also bought some wool batting for this quilt.

In the evening I sewed tha small blue border and I took 2 charmpacks of the same series adn sewed that as big blocks around it.

That same evening my quilttop was finished, the quilt where multiply people had played a leading roll and because of that I have given it the name: Quilt of Love.

Zoals je ziet vind Bowy hem ook mooi. Vanavond ga ik de quilt top dubbelen zodat ik met de kerstdagen heerlijk aan het quilten kan beginnen ;-)

As you can see, Bowy also loves this quilt. This evening I'm going to sandwich the quilt, so I can start with the quilting.

Twelve Days of Christmas - Pillows finished

Wat ben ik blij dat ik gistermiddag mijn 3e kussen in elkaar heb gezet, want toen ik 's avonds aan een nieuw project begon op de naaimachine en ik nog geen uur bezig was, klonk er ineens een keiharde knal. 

Witte rook kwam daarna uit de machine en hij stonk enorm. De naaimachine heeft het dus begeven na ruim 20 jaar. Nu mocht ik vorig jaar voor mijn 50e verjaardag al een nieuwe machine halen, maar het kwam er maar niet van. Ik stelde het steeds uit omdat ik niet wist wat voor machine ik wilde. De oude naaimachine heeft nu voor mij beslist ... het is tijd voor een nieuwe !

Maar goed, ... kussen 3 met de laatste 4 borduurtjes van de Twelve Days of Christmas is in elkaar gezet.

I'm glad I sewed my 3th pillow yesterday afternoon, because when I started last night on a new project on the sewing machine and I was only busy for 1 hour, suddenly there was a Big Bang !

White smoke came out of the sewing machine and it stank terribly. After more then 20 years my sewing machine is dead. When I had my 50th birthday last year, my present from my DH was that I could buy a new sewing machine. I still hadn't done that because I didn't know which one to buy. Now my old machine has decided for me, ... its time for a new one !

But luckily I had finished my 3th pillow with the last 4 pieces of the Twelve Days of Christmas.

De patroontjes zijn niet speciaal voor de kerst, ze hebben meer een winter thema en zodoende kunnen de kussens nu nog een paar maanden blijven liggen op de banken. Ik ben er blij mee want ze zijn erg leuk geworden !

The patterns are not especially for Christmas, they have a winter time and that way they can be on the couches for months. I'm happy with how they turn out !

Twelve Days of Christmas Day Twelve

De laatste dag is aangebroken van de Twelve Days of Christmas, een (2 delig) patroon van The Little Stitcher, dat HIER (klik) en HIER (klik) te koop is in haar Etsy-shop. Ik heb ontzettend genoten van het borduren aan deze werkjes en vind het haast jammer dat ik het laatste deel nu klaar heb. 

The last day has come of the Twelve Days of Christmas, a (2 part) pattern from The Little Stitcher, which you can buy HERE (click) and HERE (click) in her Etsy-shop. I so much enjoyed stitching these pieces and I'm almost sad that I finished the last one.

Afgelopen jaar borduurde ik van haar de Fairytale Advent Calendar, die je HIER (klik) kunt zien en dit jaar de Twelve Days of Christmas. Ik hoop dat ze komend jaar weer met zo'n fantastisch patroon komt. Dat zou een leuke traditie kunnen worden en dat komt goed uit, want dag 12 is de Dag van traditie.

Last year I stitched from her the Fairytale Advent Calendar, which you can see HERE (klik) and this year the Twelve Days of Christmas. I hope next year she will have another fantastic pattern. That could be the beginning of a wonderful tradition and thats fine by me, because day 12 is the Day of Tradition.

Ook al vind ik het jammer dat alle delen nu geborduurd zijn, het leuke is wel weer dat ik kussen 3 in elkaar kan gaan zetten ;-)

Although its sad that I stitched the last piece, the good thing is that I can begin with sewing pillow 3 ;-)

Twelve Days of Christmas Day Eleven

Het einde is in zicht. Vandaag dag 11 van de Twelve Days of Christmas met daarop een rendier in het bos.

The end is almost there. Today day 11 of the Twelve Days of Christmas with a reindeer in the forest.

Wederom voorzien van een stoffen rand. Deze dag staat voor Dag van de Afwerking. Misschien een goede dag om aan wat UFO's te werken of om de laatste kerstversiering aan te brengen.

This one got a fabric border as well. Day 11 stands for Day of Finishing. Maybe a good idea to work on a couple of UFO's or to put the last christmas decoration in place.

Nog 1 deel borduren en dan kan het laatste kussen gemaakt worden.

Only 1 piece to stitch and then I can sew the last pillow.

Twelve Days of Christmas Day Ten

Het was wat druk afgelopen weekend, daarom vandaag pas verder met dag 10 van de Twelve Days of Christmas van The Little Stitcher. Op deze dag zien we dat er een heerlijke pot winter thee gezet wordt.

It was a bit busy last weekend, so I didn't post anything, but now its time for day 10 of the Twelve Days of Christmas from The Little Stitcher. On this day we see that a delicious pot winter tea is brewing.

Zoals te zien is, is dit de Dag van de Thee. Ik zelf hou ontzettend van Venkelthee.

As you can see, this is the Day of Tea. My favorite one is Fennel tea.

En dan staan er weer 2 stukjes aan elkaar, de helft van kussen 3 ;-)

And then there are two together, the half of pillow 3 ;-)

Afgelopen zaterdag waren we de hele dag bij vriendin Trees, want daar ging ik uitleggen hoe er een pinkeep gemaakt moest worden. Het borduurwerkje Seven Pines is van Little House Needleworks en het is een freebie die je kunt vinden op haar blog. Allerlei dingen gingen er mee ...

Helaas kan ik het uiteindelijke resultaat niet laten zien, want die is bij Trees gebleven als  presentje en ik ben helemaal vergeten om een foto ervan te maken. Wel kan ik de pinkeep laten zien die tussendoor nog eventjes gemaakt is naar een patroon van Country Cottage Needleworks, het patroon komt uit de Just Cross Stitch Ornaments 2008.

I can't show the end result because I gave it to Trees as a present and I forgot to take a picture. But I can show the pinkeep I made in between all the other things. The pattern is from Country Cottage Needleworks and was published in the Just Cross Stitch Ornaments 2008.

Twelve Days of Christmas Day Nine

De patronen van de Twelve Days of Christmas heb ik gekocht als PDF file, maar vanaf vandaag zijn ze ook te koop als een gewoon papier patroon. Op het blog van The Little Stitcher (klik) lees je er alles over.

Ik ben vrolijk verder gegaan met dag 9, hierop zien we rendieren in de sneeuw.

I continue with day 9, where we see reindeers in the snow.

Dit borduurwerkje dat in kussen nummer 3 komt is weer voorzien van een stoffen rand. Dag 9 staat voor Dag van het Spelen.

This piece is the first for pillow 3 and I gave it a fabric border. Day 9 stands for Day of Playing.

Gisteren heb ik ook meteen het 2e kussen in elkaar gezet.

Yesterday I sewed pillow 2.

Twelve Days of Christmas Day Eight

Wat gaat dat toch snel met zulke kleine borduurtjes. Dag 8 is inmiddels weer klaar, nog 4 te gaan. Op deze dag zien we een leuke sneeuwpop staan.

It goes so fast with these little stitchings. Day 8 is finished, only 4 to go. On this day we see we wonderful snowman.

Dag 8 is de Dag van de Dwaasheid/Gekheid.

Day 8 is Day of Folly.

Met deze dag erbij zijn er weer 4 borduurwerkjes af, dus kan ik kussen 2 in elkaar gaan zetten.

With this day I have 4 cross stitch pieces finished, so I can sew pillow 2 together.

Twelve Days of Christmas Day Seven

Ik krijg nog steeds vragen over waar het patroon Twelve Days of Christmas te bestellen is. Dat kan in de Etsy-shop van The Little Stitcher. Het patroon bestaat uit TWEE delen, elk bevat 6 patroontjes. HIER (klik) vind je deel 1 en HIER (klik) vind je deel 2. 

Op dag 7 zien we twee eekhoorntjes in de sneeuw.

On day 7 we see two squirrels in the snow.

Day 7 is Day of Stories.

Twelve Days of Christmas Day Six

Op dag 6 van de Twelve Days of Christmas sneeuwt het zo hard dat een paraplu nodig is ;-)

On day 6 of the Twelve Days of Christmas it is snowing so hard that an umbrella is needed ;-)

Ook deze dag kreeg weer een randje stof en dag 6 staat voor de Dag van het Feest.

This day also got a border of fabric and day 6 stands for Day of Feast.

En dan heb je weer een half kussen aan elkaar gezet.

And then you have again half of the next pillow ready.

Special Stars

We zijn nog steeds druk bezig met de kerstboom, er kwam van alles tussendoor gisteren, dus vandaag gaan we vrolijk verder. Geborduurd heb ik gisteren niet omdat ik alles aan de kant had gelegd, maar wat er wel lag is dit ...

We are still busy with the Christmas tree, things got in the way yesterday, so we will continue today. I didn't do any cross stitch yesterday, but there was something else ...

Dit is het stoffenpakket dat ik vorig jaar in oktober won bij Quilterspalet. Ik had het nog steeds liggen omdat ik nog geen leuk idee ervoor had ... tot 2 weken terug. Ik zag de mooie sterrenquilt van Trees en na het meten van de stroken stof zag ik dat ik er precies 12 malletjes uitgesneden krijg. Ik ga steeds 2 stofjes combineren en maak die dan contra in kleur.

These are the fabrics I won last year by Quilterspalet in a give away. I didn't use them because I still hadn't any idea for which quilt I wated to use them ... till 2 weeks ago. I saw the beautiful star quilt from Trees and I measured my fabric. I saw that I can cut 12 pieces on each piece of febric. I'm going to combine each time 2 fabrics and make them contra in color.

Met de 60 stroken kan ik natuurlijk geen grote quilt maken, dus ga ik er stofjes uit eigen kast bij doen. Zo vond ik ook nog de restanten blauwe stofjes van mijn overleden vriendin Gerrie en daarvan ga ik ook 2 sterren maken. Toen ik bij Trees was, gaf zij mij ook 2 stroken stof die bij elkaar passen (zie bovenstaande foto) en daar heb ik nu de eerste 2 sterren mee gemaakt. Op deze manier wordt het een zeer bijzondere sterrenquilt en daarom ook de naam Special Stars. Wie weet welke stofjes ik nog tegen kom in mijn kast die speciaal voor me zijn.

With the 60 pieces of fabric I can't make a large quilt, so I'm going to take fabrics from my stash. I found some blue fabrics from my friend Gerrie who is passed away, and now I'm going to make 2 stars with it. When I was visiting Trees, she also gave me 2 pieces of fabric (see upper photo) and I made the first 2 stars with it. This way it will be a very special quilt and thats why I gave it the name Special Stars. Who knows what kind of special fabric I will find more in my closet.

De sterren quilt wordt een project voor tussendoor. Steeds als ik even tijd heb, zal ik een paar sterren maken ;-)

The star quilt will be a project on the way. Each time when I have a bit of left over time, I will make some stars ;-)

Twelve Days of Christmas Day Five

Op deze mooie zondag is dag 5 aan de beurt, hierop zijn te zien bomen met vogels.

On this beautiful sunday its time for day 5, here you see trees with birds.

Dag 5 staat voor Dag van de Vogels en kleine Dieren.

Day 5 stands for Day of Birds and little Animals.

Gisteren hebben we een kerstboom gehaald, maar omdat die nat was van de regen, hebben we hem even in de garage gezet zodat hij kon drogen. Vandaag halen we hem binnen en kunnen hem dan gaan versieren. Zodoende had ik gisteravond tijd om het eerste kussen in elkaar te zetten.

Yesterday we bought a christmas tree, but because he was wet, we put it in the garage so he can dry. Today we are going to take him inside so we can decorate it. Thats why I had time last night to sew the first pillow.
