Enjoy the long post

Precies 1 maand geleden schreef ik mijn laatste berichtje. Ik was zo druk met van alles en nog wat dat ik het steeds uit bleef stellen, maar vandaag ben ik er dan toch voor gaan zitten. Ik schrijf alles op in dagboek vorm zodat ik niets vergeet.
29 april
Samen met een vriendin bestelde we afgelopen week elk 2 verrassingszakken bij @knit.and.love. Een zak met 2 strengen alpaca sock en een zak met 2 strengen high twist sock. Omdat ze bij elkaar zaten, hebben vriendin en ik steeds om en om een kleur gekozen. Dit zijn mijn strengen, links de alpaca sock en rechts de high twist. De streng die bovenaan ligt had ik er apart bij besteld.
Er zat zelfs een super leuk projecttasje bij dat ik aan mijn vriendin gaf en ik kreeg de snoepjes steekmarkeerder.

Exactly 1 month ago I wrote my last message. I was so busy with all kinds of things that I kept putting it off, but today I finally sat down for it. I write everything down in a diary form so that I don't forget anything.
April 29
Together with a friend, we each ordered 2 surprise bags from @knit.and.love last week. A bag of 2 skeins of alpaca sock and a bag of 2 skeins of high twist sock. Because they were together in the bag, my friend and I chose a color alternately. These are my skeins, on the left the alpaca sock and on the right the high twist. I had ordered the skein at the top separately. There was even a super nice project bag that I gave to my friend and I got the candy stitch marker.

Gisteren een fijne wandeling gemaakt bij ons in de buurt, heerlijk genieten van de zon. Met de jas uit was het nog warm.
Voor stukken langer dan 10 minuten ben ik wel aangewezen op de rollator. Ik loop dan rechter op en daardoor doen de schouders en rug minder zeer. Ook qua benauwdheid loopt dit veel prettiger en hoef ik niet te stoppen.
Vorige keer zonder rollator dit stuk gelopen maar dat was geen feest. Veel pijn nadien en constant moeten stoppen vanwege de benauwdheid.
Ik heb nog een oudje  die erg zwaar is, maar ik ga nu op zoek naar een hip exemplaar, het liefst in het rood of blauw

We took a nice walk in our neighborhood yesterday, enjoying the sun. It was still warm with the jacket off.
For walks longer than 10 minutes I have to rely on the rollator. I then walk straighter and that makes the shoulders and back hurt less. This is also much more pleasant in terms of shortness of breath and I don't have to stop. Last time I walked this piece without a rollator, but that was no party. Lots of pain afterwards and constantly having to stop because of the shortness of breath.
I still have an oldie  that is very heavy, but I am now looking for a hip one, preferably in red or blue.

De Bakery Bears zijn begonnen met hun Summer of Stitching voor hun patrons. Kay Jones heeft als eerste patroon de Beachcomber sokken ontworpen.
Ik kreeg van de week een aantal strengen binnen van @wolmetverve waaronder ook de kleur Beach en daarmee brei ik de sokken.

This week I received a number of skeins from @wolmetverve including the color Beach and I knit the socks with that.

Vandaag kwam Catootje binnen wandelen en ze voelt zich al thuis. Ze is gemaakt door @pop.geluk of te  wel @_marion_anderson op Instagram. Ik vroeg om rode laarsjes, een rood vestje en een romantisch jurkje. Marion is daarin goed geslaagd.

Today Catootje walked in and she already feels at home. She was made by @pop.geluk aka @_marion_anderson on Instagram. I asked for red boots, a red cardigan and a romantic dress. Marion succeeded well in that.

Elk jaar staat er een prentenboek in de schijnwerpers bij @geefeenboekcadeau voor een kleine prijs. Dit jaar is het Kleine ijsbeer van Hans de Beer. Er zijn weer 4 boeken gekocht, 2 voor mijn kinderen (en kleindochters), 1 voor petekind en 1 voor mezelf.

Every year a picture book is in the spotlight at @Geefeenboekcadeau for a small price. This year it is Little Polar Bear by Hans de Beer. Another 4 books have been bought, 2 for my children (and granddaughters), 1 for my godchild and 1 for myself.

Mijn man was gisteren jarig en toen zijn we samen een middag naar Heinsberg (Duitsland) geweest. Heerlijk gegeten (als je in Duitsland bent moet je gewoon de bradwurst eten) en van de natuur genoten. Als afsluiter dicht bij huis warm appeltaart met slagroom en ijs.
Ik vond in een supermarkt daar ook nog deze 4 mooie bollen sokkenwol. Het was de hele dag schitterend mooi warm weer.

It was my husband's birthday yesterday and we went to Heinsberg (Germany) together for an afternoon. Delicious food (if you are in Germany you just have to eat the bradwurst) and enjoyed nature. To end the day we had warm apple pie with whipped cream and ice cream. I also found these 4 beautiful balls of sock wool in a supermarket there. The weather was beautiful and warm all day long.

En dan krijg je zomaar een aantal prachtige steekmarkeerders toegestuurd van een lief iemand. Anita (@anita.vlijtige.handjes op IG) ontzettend bedankt, ze zijn echt prachtig en de eerste is al in gebruik.

Het begin van de sok hierboven is voor de workshop Sokken breien op de rondbreinaald die een vriendin en ik samen gaan geven bij Tante Tuttebol . Hij start op 30 mei en zal uit 4 avonden bestaan, verspreid over 4 weken. De workshop zat heel snel vol en misschien dat we in het najaar weer een workshop geven.

The beginning of the sock above is for the workshop Knitting socks on circular needles that a friend and I are going to give together at Tante Tuttebol. It starts on May 30 and will consist of 4 evenings, spread over 4 weeks. The workshop filled up very quickly and we might give another workshop in the fall.

Vandaag
De laatste week deze 3 boeken gelezen. Verzoening van @deborahraney en  Het kleine straatje met het grote hart van @manuelainusa, beide boeken in 2 avonden uit gelezen. Boeken van deze schrijfsters kan ik bijna niet wegleggen 😂.
De patchworkfamilie van @cathybramley was ook een mooi boek om te lezen, uitgelezen in 3 avonden.

Read these 3 books in the last week.
Bridges by @deborahraney and Het kleine straatje met het grote hart by @manuelainusa (no English translated), read both books in 2 evenings. I can hardly put down books by these authors 😂. @cathybramley's patchwork family was also a nice book to read, finished in 3 evenings.

Vanmorgen vroeg ook al begonnen met een nieuwe sok (ik stond om 5.45 uur op). Ik brei hem samen met mijn internet vriendinnetje Else, want zij kocht dezelfde kleur (Opal Regenwald 18, nummer 11202) toen ze naar de opening van Tante Tuttebol kwam. We spraken toen af dat we het samen zouden breien als we een patroon gevonden hadden. Het gaan de Just add Magic sokken worden.

Started a new sock early this morning (I was up at 5.45 AM). I knit it together with my internet friend Else, because she bought the same color (Opal Regenwald 18, number 11202) when she came to the opening of Tante Tuttebol. We then agreed that we would knit it together when we found a pattern. It will be the Just add Magic socks.

Begin april maakte ik de Christmas Tree socks af. Het patroon is de Heel toe do si do van The crazy sock lady en het garen kwam uit de Countdown to Christmas box 2021 van Nicole C. Mendez.
De naam van de kleur is Christmas Tree en de contrast kleur is Orchid van Lamingtonlass.

At the beginning of April I finished the Christmas Tree socks. The pattern is the Heel toe do si do by The crazy sock lady and the yarn came from Nicole C. Mendez's Countdown to Christmas box 2021.
The name of the color is Christmas Tree and the contrast color is Orchid from Lamingtonlass.

Op 9 april mochten we ook de extra cadeau's open maken die in de paas wol swap zaten en ik werd goed verwend door Liane en Yvon. Ze waren vergeten mijn naam te delen met een swap partner en toen hebben zij beide dit voor mij samengesteld.

On April 9, we were also allowed to open the extra gifts that were included in the Easter wool swap and I was spoiled by Liane and Yvon. They forgot to share my name with a swap partner and then they both put this together for me.

Ook mocht ik het eerste bolletje wol openen, de start van mijn paas wol swap sokken. Ik heb eerst de zalm kleurige bol van de cadeau's genomen en een paar naalden boord gebreid, daarna de boord afgemaakt met de kleur Lime van Irish Fairytale yarns. Vanuit daar heb ik alle 14 bolletjes wol, waarvan ik er elke dag 1 opende, in de sok gebreid. Het is een vrolijk paar geworden en ik ben er super blij mee.

I was also allowed to open the first ball of wool, the start of my Easter wool swap socks. I first took the salmon-colored ball of the gifts and knitted a few needles cuff, then finished the cuff with the color Lime from Irish Fairytale yarns. From there I knitted all 14 balls of wool, of which I opened 1 every day, into the sock. It has become happy socks and I am very happy with it.

Begin april kwam ook de Opal Abo binnen van maart, dit is het 4e jaar dat ik meedoe en ik ben elke keer weer verrast hoe mooi de kleuren zijn.

At the beginning of April the Opal Abo also arrived from March, this is the 4th year that I participate and I am surprised every time how beautiful the colors are.

In de winkel van Tante Tuttebol kwamen ook de Vincent van Gogh kleuren van Opal binnen. Ik had er 3 uit deze serie en kocht de ontbrekende 5 er meteen bij.

The Vincent van Gogh colors of Opal also arrived in Tante Tuttebol's shop. I had 3 from this series and bought the missing 5 immediately.

Op 5 april heb ik ook nog de super leuke workshop Dubbel breien gevolgd van Mr. Knitbear, gehouden bij Tante Tuttebol.
Anja, de eigenaresse, had zelfs een Mr. Knitbear thee samen laten stellen die bijna zo zwart is als motorolie. Het moest tenslotte een stoere mannelijke thee zijn en hij was me toch lekker. We kregen ook allemaal een zakje mee en het mooie boek.

On April 5th I also followed the super fun Double Knitting workshop from Mr. Knitbear, held at Tante Tuttebol.
Anja, the owner, even had a Mr. Knitbear tea put together that is almost as black as engine oil. After all, it had to be a tough masculine tea and it taste really good. We all got a bag of tea and the beautiful book.

De opzet vond ik even moeilijk, maar de volgende dag nog even flink geoefend en ik had het daarna snel onder de knie. De rest ging me goed af, maar ik zag wel dat ik naald 2 verkeerd had gebreid. Al met al ontzettend genoten.

I found the set-up difficult for a while, but I practiced a lot the next day and I quickly mastered it. The rest went well for me, but I saw that I had knitted row 2 wrong. All in all really enjoyed it.

Een week of twee terug won ik ook nog een streng bij Nicole C. Mendez. Je kunt elke maand meedoen aan haar year long knit-along. Heb je een paar sokken met haar garen gebreid dan gebruik je een bepaalde hashtag op instagram en zij kiest elke maand een winnaar uit. Ik was met bovenstaande Christmas Tree sokken gewonnen. De kleur die ik als prijs uit koos heet Celebrations en heeft een 8 kleuren streep patroon.

A week or two ago I also won a skein from Nicole C. Mendez. You can participate in her year-long knit-along every month. If you have knitted a pair of socks with her yarn, you use a certain hashtag on Instagram and she chooses a winner every month. I won with the above Christmas Tree socks. The color I chose as a prize is called Celebrations and has an 8 color stripe pattern.

Waar ben ik nu nog mee bezig? Ik had deze kleur uitgekozen uit de Vincent van Gogh serie van Opal om daarmee de Chicky Lace sokken te breien van Pien Roggeveen, een freebie te vinden op Ravelry. Ze is ook bekend als @sokkenvanpien op instagram. De kleur is nummer 5437 en heet Das Restaurant de la Sirène in Asnières.

What am I still doing? I chose this color from the Vincent van Gogh series by Opal to knit the Chicky Lace socks by Pien Roggeveen, a freebie which you can find on Ravelry. Inmiddels is de eerste sok af en tijdens het breicafe afgelopen dinsdag bij Tante Tuttebol startte ik de tweede sok. Ik wil deze graag af hebben voor 2 mei want dan begint de Summer of Stitching bij de Bakery Bears en Kay Jones heeft een mooi sok patroon voor ons in petto.

The first sock is now finished and during the knitting cafe last Tuesday at Tante Tuttebol I started the second sock. I would like to finish this before May 2, because then the Summer of Stitching starts at the Bakery Bears and Kay Jones has a nice sock pattern in store for us.

Verder ben ik ook begonnen aan de Owl and Hare Hollow quilt, een blok van de maand, die 6 maanden lang verschijnt in het Homespun magazine. De ontwerpster is Natalie Bird. Ik maak deze quilt tussen het breien door en heb er geen haast mee.

I also started the Owl and Hare Hollow quilt, a block of the month, which appears in Homespun magazine for 6 months. The designer is Natalie Bird. I'm making this quilt in between knitting and I'm in no rush to do it.

 

Crunkled socks and Easter eggs finished

Ik was in februari al aan de Crunkled socks begonnen, maar na sok 1 heb ik 2 paar sokken voor de winkel van Tante Tuttebol gebreid. De laatste paar dagen ben ik bezig geweest met sok 2 die nu ook af is.

I had already started the Crunkled socks in February, but after sock 1 I knitted 2 pairs of socks for Tante Tuttebol's store. The last few days I've been working on sock 2 which is now also finished.

De sokken zijn gebreid met kleur Saloon 11293 uit de serie Country van Opal. Het patroon is van Kay Jones.

Ook zijn al mijn paaseieren af en inmiddels hangen ze in de takken.

All my Easter eggs are also finished and now they are hanging in the branches.

Wat waren deze heerlijk om te maken. De eieren komen uit het patroon Bunny Bowl dat gratis op Ravelry staat.

These were wonderful to make. The eggs are from the Bunny Bowl pattern that is available for free on Ravelry.

In totaal heb ik 17 eieren gehaakt met Opal garen.

In total I crocheted 17 eggs with Opal yarn.

Afgelopen week kwamen er ook nog een paar strengen binnen van Knit and Love, een verfster uit Duitsland met een mooi project tasje.

Last week a few skeins arrived from Knit and Love, a dyer from Germany with a lovely project bag.

De komende dagen hou ik me bezig met het afmaken van de Christmas Tree socks. Dat wordt tijd want ik was er july 2022 al mee begonnen.

The coming days I will be busy finishing the Christmas Tree socks. It's about time because I had already started it in July 2022.

Rye Light socks finished

Op 16 maart kwamen weer verschillende mooie sokwolletjes binnen in de winkel van Tante Tuttebol. Nadat ze in de kasten lagen koos Anja er een uit en gaf me die mee. Hier ga ik weer een voorbeeld van breien voor in de winkel. De boord had ik 'savonds al af.

On March 16 several beautiful sock wools arrived again in the store of Tante Tuttebol. After they were in the cupboards, Anja chose one and gave it to me. I'm going to knit an example for the shop with it. I already finished the cuff that same evening.

Twee dagen later was ik bij het breicafe bij Tante Tuttebol en kon ik al aan de hak beginnen.

Two days later when I was at the knitting cafe at Tante Tuttebol I could start with the heel.

Op 20 maart kon ik beginnen aan sok 2.

On March 20 I could start with the second sock.

Op 23 maart waren beide sokken af en kon ik ze in  een badje doen. De sokken zijn gebreid met Patagonia van Rellana voor de winkel van Tante Tuttebol. Dit zijn qua kleuren echt voorjaarssokken. Het patroon dat ik gebruikt heb is de Rye Light socks, te vinden op Ravelry.

On March 23 I had finished them and I gave them a bad. The socks are knitted with Rellana's Patagonia for Tante Tuttebol shop. These are really spring socks in terms of colors. The pattern I use is the Rye Light socks on Ravelry.

Ook heb ik weer een mini sok van het garen gebreid wat aan de waslijn in de winkel komt te hangen.

I also knitted a mini sock of the yarn that will hang on the washing line in the store.

Toen bovenstaande sokken lagen te drogen, kon ik verder gaan met mijn 2e Crunkled sok.

Het afgelopen weekend stond in het teken van eieren haken met Opal garen.

Last weekend is was all about crocheting eggs with Opal yarn.

Elk jaar staat er een boek in de schijnwerpers bij "Geef een boek cadeau" voor een kleine prijs. Dit jaar is het Dolfje Weerwolfje van Paul van Loon. Ze lagen in februari al in de winkel, maar doordat ik steeds ziek was, heb ik dit totaal over het hoofd gezien.
Gelukkig lagen er vrijdag nog in de winkel, dus ik heb weer 4 boeken gekocht, 2 voor mijn kinderen (en kleindochters), 1 voor petekind en 1 voor mezelf.

Every year a book is in the spotlight at "Give a book as a gift" for a small price. This year it is Dolfje Weerwolfje by Paul van Loon. They were already in the store in February, but because I was always sick, I completely overlooked this.
Fortunately, there were still in the store on Friday, so I bought 4 books again, 2 for my children (and granddaughters), 1 for my godchild and 1 for myself.

Afgelopen week kwam ook het pakje aan van de paasswap. Ik doe mijn pakje deze week op de post.

Last week the package of the Easter swap also arrived. I will post my parcel this week.

Orange socks and feeling better again

 De sokken die ik maakte voor de winkel van Tante Tuttebol zijn eindelijk af. Ik gebruikte het garen Twin Silk van Lang Yarns, een heerlijk zachte draad in de kleur Scorpio.

The socks I made for Tante Tuttebol's shop are finally finished. I used the yarn Twin Silk from Lang Yarns, a wonderfully soft thread in the color Scorpio.

Ze waren allang afgeweest, ware het niet dat de dag nadat ik mijn vorige blogje schreef ik weer flink ziek werd. Koorts, hoofdpijn, hoesten, misselijk, te ziek om uit bed te komen. Ik bleef dan ook van maandag tot zaterdag boven in bed liggen. Op zaterdag at ik voor het eerst een droogkoekje. Daarnaast was het alleen een paar koppen thee per dag. Maar toen werd ik er ook weer heel benauwd bij, dus de volgende dag, zondag 5 maart, maar de huisartsenpost.

They would have been done for a long time, were it not for the fact that the day after I wrote my last blog I got sick again. Fever, headache, cough, nausea, too sick to get out of bed. So I stayed upstairs in bed from Monday to Saturday. On Saturday I ate a dry biscuit for the first time. In addition, it was only a few cups of tea a day. But then I also became very short of breath, so the next day, Sunday March 5, I went to the doctor's office.

Ze schreef me meteen weer een prednison en antibiotica kuur voor. Dit was nu de 3e keer dat ik prednison kreeg sinds 6 januari. Ze gaf me het advies om contact op te nemen met de longarts en te vragen of ik mijn afspraak eerder kon krijgen want er moet naar gekeken worden waarom de infectie niet echt weg wil gaan. Daar kan ik nu op 3 april naar toe.
Naast de grote sokken heb ik ook weer een mini sok gebreid voor aan de waslijn in de wolwinkel.

She immediately prescribed me another course of prednisone and antibiotics. This was now the 3rd time I have been given prednisone since January 6th. She advised me to contact the pulmonologist and ask if I could get my appointment earlier as they need to look into why the infection is not really going away. I can now go there on April 3.
In addition to the large socks, I also knitted a mini sock for the washing line in the wool shop.

Op 6 maart werd onze jongste kleindochter Loïs 2 jaar en op die dag mocht ze ook voor het eerst naar de peuterspeelzaal. Ze zit in dezelfde groep als haar 3 jarig zusje Lana, heerlijk samen aan het knutselen.

On March 6, our youngest granddaughter Loïs turned 2 years old and on that day she also went to preschool for the first time. She is in the same group as her 3-year-old sister Lana, having fun crafting together.

En dan ineens 2 dagen later begon het te sneeuwen en het bleef sneeuwen. Wat een mooi gezicht was dat.

And then suddenly 2 days later it started snowing and it kept snowing. What a beautiful sight that was.

Sinds een paar dagen gaat het gelukkig weer iets beter, ik heb weer meer lucht. Gelukkig maar, want zodoende kon ik weer op de fiets naar het breicafe. Ik had mijn Crunkled socks meegenomen die ik brei met kleur 11293 Saloon van de serie Country van Opal.

Fortunately, things have improved a bit since a few days, I can breath more easily again. Fortunately, because that way I could cycle to the knitting cafe again. I brought my Crunkled socks that I knit with color 11293 Saloon from the Country series by Opal.

Vorige week ontving ik ook mijn prijs die ik gewonnen had op Instagram bij Anna Knitter. Elke maand heeft ze een onderwerp wat je kunt breien. In februari was dat Valentijn kleuren en ik had mijn col die ik gebreid had tijdens Valenvent opgegeven en won daarmee de maand prijs.

Last week I also received my prize that I won on Instagram at Anna Knitter. Every month she has a topic that you can knit. In February it was Valentine's colors and I had given up my cowl that I knitted during Valenvent and won the monthly prize.

Een paar dagen geleden ontving ik ook mijn pakje wat ik besteld had bij Supergoof Quilts.

A few days ago I also received my package that I ordered from Supergoof Quilts.

Ze liet op Instagram 2 hondjes zien van Maileg en ik was verkocht. Puk en Muk voelen zich hier inmiddels al goed thuis.

She showed 2 dogs from Maileg on Instagram and I was sold. Puk and Muk already feel at home here.

Dan wil ik ook nog even het boek De boekenfluisteraar van Carsten Henn noemen, want wat was dit een heerlijk boek om te lezen. Een echt lief boek.

Then I would also like to mention the book The Door-to-Door Bookstore by Carsten Henn, because this was such a wonderful book to read. A really sweet book.

Verder heb ik me ook nog opgegeven voor de Paaswolswap2023. Zoiets als de kerstswap afgelopen december. Alleen doen we nu 14 strengen van 6 gram inpakken met iets lekkers erbij en een cadeau van rond de 10 euro. Je kunt je hiervoor niet meer inschrijven, de termijn verliep afgelopen zondag.

I also signed up for the Easter wool swap2023. Something like the Christmas swap last December. Only now we pack 14 skeins of 6 grams with something delicious and a gift of around 10 euros. You can no longer register for this, the term expired last Sunday.

En gisteren kwamen ook nog de strengen binnen die ik besteld had bij The Woolly Chicken, samen met een paar steekmarkeerders. De kleuren zijn weer prachtig.

And yesterday the skeins I ordered from The Woolly Chicken arrived, along with a few stitch markers. The colors are beautiful again.
