Happy birthday little princess

En voor je het weet is ook je middelste kleindochter 1 jaar geworden. Yara geniet van je taart 🎂 op deze mooie zonnige dag. Dit is de kleindochter die regelmatig hier in huis is als papa en mama werken zijn en we hebben altijd dikke pret samen. Gefeliciteerd lief klein prinsesje.

And before you know it, your middle granddaughter turned 1 too. Yara enjoy your cake 🎂 on this beautiful sunny day.  This is the granddaughter who is regularly here in the house when mom and dad are at work and we always have a lot of fun together. Congratulations sweet little princess.

De Heks van Limbricht was een boek dat ik super graag wilde lezen, dus afgelopen vrijdag meteen naar de boekwinkel om het te kopen. De boeken van Susan Smit zijn tot dusver altijd erg goed geweest en ik denk dat het met dit boek niet veel anders is. Haar eerste boek "Heks" in 2001 gaf me een heel andere kijk op het leven en de natuur.

De heks van Limbricht (The Witch of Limbricht) was a book that I really wanted to read, so last Friday I immediately went to the bookstore to buy it. Susan Smit's books have always been very good so far and I don't think it's much different with this one. Her first book "Witch" in 2001 gave me a very different view on life and nature. I don't know if any of her books are translated.

Een paar dagen geleden kwam ook mijn bestelling van Maschenatelier binnen en wat zijn de kleuren weer schitterend. Dat worden weer (hoofdzakelijk) mooie sokken.

My order from Maschenatelier also arrived a few days ago and the colors are beautiful again. These will be again (mainly) nice socks.

Ze had een nieuw basisgaren erbij gekregen, waarvan ik 1 streng liet meekomen. Het is Triologie en bestaat uit 75% schurwolle, 15% zijde en 10% linnen. Het is geverfd in de kleur Sea Grass.

She had received a new basic yarn, of which I had 1 skein come along. It is Triology and consists of 75% wool, 15% silk and 10% linen. It is dyed in the color Sea Grass.

Omdat mijn Opal sokken af zijn (foto komt volgende keer), heb ik gisteren meteen deze streng opgedraaid en ben begonnen aan een nieuw paar sokken. Ik gebruik het patroon Oakworth socks, dat in 2019 aan hun patreons gegeven werd tijdens de Knitting University van de Bakery Bears. Het patroon is dus nergens te koop. Het garen zelf breid heerlijk.

Because my Opal socks are finished (picture coming next time), I immediately wound up this skein yesterday and started on a new pair of socks. I'm using the Oakworth socks pattern, which was given to their patrons in 2019 at the Bakery Bears' Knitting University. The pattern is therefore not for sale anywhere. The yarn itself knits wonderful.

Mees 5 months

Mees is vandaag 5 maanden jong. Wat zijn die maanden omgevlogen.

Mees is 5 months young today. Those months have flown by. 

Hij is echt goed gegroeid. Zijn eerste mand begon te klein te worden zoals je hieronder ziet.

He has grown really well. His first basket was getting too small as you can see here below.

Dus afgelopen week gingen we naar de plaatselijke dierenwinkel waar we een grotere mand voor hem kochten. Een die ook ritsen heeft zodat de binnenkussens eruit gehaald kunnen worden als de hoes gewassen de wasmachine in moet.

So last week we went to the local pet store where we bought him a bigger basket. One that also has zippers so that the inner cushions can be taken out when the cover needs to be washed in the washing machine.

Nu heeft die weer de ruimte om te liggen en heerlijk te dromen van ..... ?

Bij een "5 maanden" verjaardag hoort ook een cadeautje en aangezien Mees dol is op speelgoedbeesten kreeg hij nu een roze vogel die inmiddels door heel de kamer mee rond gesleept wordt.

A "5 months" birthday also comes with a present and since Mees loves toy animals, he now got a pink bird that is now being dragged around the room.

Ik wil even een misverstand uit de wereld helpen. In mijn bericht op 19 mei laat ik de nieuwe button zien waarmee je je kunt abonneren op email alerts omdat de oude button in juli gaat verdwijnen. In dit bericht stond een link naar Follow.it voor diegene die zelf een blog hebben en deze email alert button ook op hun blog willen. Deze link is NIET om je op de email alerts te abonneren, daarvoor klik je op de button die je rechts op mijn blog kunt vinden en die ziet er zo uit:

Ik zag van de week ook dat het 15 jaar geleden is dat ik begon met bloggen. Mijn eerste blog schreef ik op 5 april 2006 en ging over een wandeling met onze toen 3 jack russels Bob, Sinto en Bowy. Mijn fotocamera van toen gaf niet de beste foto kwaliteit. In totaal schreef ik tot nu toe 1734 berichten, dat is ongeveer 115 jaar per jaar, wat neerkomt op iets meer dan 2 per week.
Het is me wel opgevallen dat ik de laatste 2 a 3 jaar iets minder blog dan voorheen, maar dat komt omdat ik sneller iets op facebook en instagram plaats en hierdoor maak ik dan een soort van dagboek berichten die soms berichten van een maand lang laten zien.

Last week I also saw that it is 15 years ago that I started blogging. I wrote my first blog on April 5, 2006 and was about a walk with our then 3 jack russels Bob, Sinto and Bowy. My photo camera back then did not give the best photo quality. In total I wrote 1,734 posts so far, that's about 115 messages per year, which equates to just over 2 per week.
I have noticed that the last 2 to 3 years I blog a little less than before, but that is because I post something more quickly on facebook and instagram and because of this I make a kind of diary messages that sometimes show messages of a month long.

Afgelopen woensdag kon ik dan eindelijk mijn eerste vaccinatie gaan halen. Over 5 weken op 23 juni, krijg ik de tweede prik.

Last Wednesday I could finally get my first vaccination. In 5 weeks on June 23rd, I'll get the second shot.

 Inmiddels heb ik deel 2 van de Oh Happy Wrap van Maliha Designs - Lisa Hannes ook af.

Ook zijn er nog een aantal garen zendingen binnen gekomen die ik niet heb laten zien.
Twee weken geleden kwamen deze 3 prachtige strengen van Atelier Sopra binnen waarvan ik sokken ga breien.

Afgelopen woensdag kwam ook de mei Mysterie set van Harry Potter van Nicole C Mendez binnen. Dit is een 3 maanden abonnement met zelfstrepend garen. De kleur deze maand is The Burrow en  het heeft maar liefst 6 kleuren (oranje, bruin, blauw, groen, grijs, beige).

Last Wednesday also the May Mystery set of Harry Potter from Nicole C Mendez arrived. This is a 3 month subscription with self-striping yarn. The color this month is The Burrow and it has a whopping 6 shades (orange, brown, blue, green, grey, beige).

Ik heb het garen tot een bol opgedraaid zodat je een beetje ziet hoe het streeppatroon verloopt.

En donderdag kwam mijn Opal abonnement weer binnen, al voor de 6e keer mocht ik 6 prachtige bollen ontvangen. Ik blijf vragen krijgen over wat het Opal abonnement is.
In het kort: Je krijgt 4 keer per jaar (in maart, mei, septenmber en december) 6 bollen die alleen voor het abonnement gemaakt zijn. Het kan zijn dat na lange tijd een bepaalde kleur in het assortiment opgenomen wordt als daar veel vraag naar is. Je abonnement loopt gewoon door tot je het per email opzegt. Je kunt alleen per bankoverschrijving betalen en niet met paypal. Omdat ik indertijd wat vragen hierover had, heb ik me ook aangemeld per email en niet via de website. Je kunt ze in het Duits of Engels mailen. Ik weet niet naar welke landen ze allemaal verzenden, in elk geval niet naar Amerika. Geen idee of ze naar Engeland versturen. And on Thursday my Opal subscription came in again, for the 6th time I received 6 beautiful balls. I keep getting questions about what the Opal subscription is.
In short: 4 times a year (in March, May, September and December) you will receive 6 balls made only for the subscription. It may be that a certain color is included in the range after a long time if there is a lot of demand for it. Your subscription will continue until you cancel it by email. You can only pay by bank transfer and not with paypal. Because I had some questions about this at the time, I also registered by email and not via the website. You can email them in German or English. I don't know which countries they all ship to, at least not to America. No idea if they ship to England. HERE you can find the Opal Abo.

Van de week laat ik een paar sokken van Opal garen zien die ik af heb. Ik moet alleen de draadjes nog instoppen.

Caladenia shawl finished

Wat een leuk patroon was dit om te breien. Elke week kregen we een gedeelte en dan heb je zomaar na 5 weken een sjaal af.

What a fun pattern this was to knit. Every week we got a part and then you just finished a shawl after 5 weeks.

Caladenia shawl - Ambah O'Brien
Yarn: - Irish Fairytale Yarns (color Woodland, Leprechaun and Very Berry)
- Marianthi Yarns (color Parfait)
Both 100% merino
Both skeins are 100 gr. (400 m/437 yards) - In total used 219 grams = 875 m/957 yards
Circular needle 3.25 mm (US 3)

De Caladenia sjaal is gebreid met 100% merino van 2 verschillende indie dyers. Drie kleuren (2 groenen en 1 paarse) van Irish Fairytale Yarns en 1 kleur van Marianthi Yarns. Beide uit Duitsland.

The Caladenia shawl is knitted with 100% merino from 2 different indie dyers. Three colors (2 greens and 1 purple) of Irish Fairytale Yarns and 1 color of Marianthi Yarns. Both from Germany.

Alle strengen waren 100 gram (400 m / 437 yards). Van de lichtgroene en paarse kleur gebruikte ik 40 gram (160 m / 175 yards). Van de donkergroene werd 65 gram (260 m / 285 yards) gebreid en van de lichte ecru kleur werd 75 gram (295 m / 323 yards) gebruikt.

All skeins were 100 grams (400 m / 437 yards). I used 40 grams (160 m / 175 yards) of the light green and purple color. 65 grams (260 m / 285 yards) of the dark green color was knitted and 75 grams (295 m / 323 yards) of the light ecru color. 

De sjaal is gebreid op naald 3.25  en hij is 255 cm x 60 cm.

The shawl is knitted on needle 3.25 (US 3) and it's 255 cm x 60 cm (100" x 24").

 Ik ben even aan het testen of de nieuwe button ook werkt.
In mijn vorig bericht schreef ik dat de widget "Follow by email" gaat verdwijnen.
Vond jij het handig om een email te krijgen als er een nieuw bericht geschreven was, dan kan dat nu weer wel, want ik heb een andere button geplaatst. Deze is van "Follow it" (aan de rechterkant te vinden). Voor diegene die een email willen ontvangen,  moeten zich wel even opnieuw abonneren via de button.
Ik zie verder geen gegevens van jullie, het is alleen voor jezelf om een email te krijgen bij een nieuwe post van mij.

Diary April 12 - May 10

Ik zag dat mijn laatste blogpost op 11 april was, de weken lijken voorbij te vliegen. Elke dag neem ik me voor om een berichtje te schrijven en steeds komt er iets tussen. Maar vandaag ga ik even alles noteren wat er zoal gedaan is de laatste weken.

I saw that my last blog post was on April 11, the weeks seem to fly by. Every day I promise to write a message and something comes up every time. But today I'm going to write down everything that has been done in recent weeks.

De widget FollowByEmail (Feedburner) gaat verdwijnen. Dit betekent dat iedereen die zich aangemeld heeft om een email met update te krijgen als er een nieuwe blogpost wordt geschreven, dit vanaf juli 2021 komt te vervallen. Wat best wel jammer is, want ik vond het wel handig dat ik een email kreeg als iemand een nieuwe post geschreven had.

The FollowByEmail (Feedburner) widget will disappear. This means that anyone who has signed up to receive an update email when a new blog post is written will expire from July 2021. Which is a shame, because I found it useful to receive an email when someone wrote a new post.

12 april:

Onze vorige honden trokken zich er niets van aan als de tv aan stond, maar we zijn er achter gekomen dat Mees het juist heel interessant vind. Vind hij het programma leuk, dan blijft hij gewoon zitten kijken (de lichtbruine strook onder de tvkast is karton zodat Mees zijn speelgoed er niet onder kan rollen).

April 12:
Our previous dogs didn't care if the TV was on, but we found out that Mees finds it very interesting. If he likes the program, he will just sit and watch (the light brown strip under the TV cabinet is cardboard so that Mees cannot roll his toys under it).

Vandaag kwam het prachtige garen van Maschenatelier uit Duitsland binnen, super mooie kleuren. Kan niet wachten om deze te gaan gebruiken in sokken of sjaals.

Today the beautiful yarn came in from Maschenatelier from Germany, such wonderful colors. Can't wait to knit socks or shawls with these.

 

15 april:

Vandaag mag mijn zoon Niels 37 kaarsjes uitblazen. Waar blijft de tijd !

Ook kreeg ik het tweede verrassingspakket binnen van The Log Cabin. Alles zit in het pakket om deze quilt te maken, zelfs de tussenvulling en achterkantstof. Ook een prachtig boek waar het patroon in staat en nog vele andere mooie patronen.

I also received the second surprise package from quilt shop The Log Cabin. Everything is included to make this quilt, even the batting and backing fabric. Also a beautiful book that has the pattern in it and many more.

19 april:
De April Harry Potter Mysterie set van Nicole C Mendez kwam ook binnen. Dit is een 3 maanden abonnement met zelfstrepend garen. De kleur deze maand is Vault 687 en ik vind de kleuren weer heel  mooi.

26 april:

Een paar keer per week gaan we naar de honden uitlaatplaats waar Mees even kan rondrennen en soms speelt hij daar met andere honden. Hier met Tess, een Duitse herder, die tegenover ons woont.

A few times a week we go to the dog walking area where Mees can run around and sometimes he plays with other dogs. Here with Tess, a German Shepherd, who lives across the street from us.

Het was een paar dagen heel mooi weer en waar is Mees dan te vinden? Juist ... buiten op zijn deken.

Mees is vanmiddag voor het eerst naar de kleuterklas bij Hondenschool School4Dogs geweest. Dat wordt nog heel veel oefenen.

Mees went this afternoon to the puppy course for the first time. That will be a lot of practice.

 

2 mei:
De dag van het dubbelfeest. 16 jaar getrouwd en dochter Lindy mag vandaag 35 kaarsjes uitblazen.

May 2:
The day of the double party. Married for 16 years and dear daughter Lindy can blow out 35 candles today.

 

 

3 mei:
Deel 4 van de Caladenia Shawl MKAL is nu ook af en inmiddels ben ik druk bezig met het laatste deel, wat de nodige tijd in beslag neemt.

 

May 3:

Clue 4 of the Caladenia Shawl MKAL is  now also finished and now I'm busy with the last clue, which takes some time.

 

 7 mei:
Bezig met een picot afkanting van de Caladenia Shawl MKAL. Het einde is in zicht.

Ik heb onder de tafel een voetenbankje staan waar ik mijn voeten op zet als ik zit te breien. Maar soms is dit voetenbankje al bezet door iemand.

I have a footstool under the table were I put my feet on when I'm knitting. But sometimes this footstool is already occupied by someone.  

 

10 mei:

Waar ik overdag zit, daar is Mees ook te vinden. Afgelopen vrijdag zijn we voor de 2e keer naar de kleuterklas geweest en hij begint het nu  te snappen. Thuis oefenen we elke dag en sinds vandaag doet hij nu ook op handcommando zitten en liggen. Hij leert best snel deze deugniet.

 

Where I sit during the day, Mees can also be found there. Last Friday we went to the puppy course for the 2nd time and he is now starting to understand. At home we practice every day and since today he now also sits and lies down on hand command. He learns pretty quickly  this rascal.
