Last 2 blankets

Inmiddels heb ik de laatste 2 dekens af en ik heb ze ook al weggebracht naar de mevrouw van De Zonnebloem stichting, die ze op haar beurt weer af geeft voor het project "De Grootste gehaakte deken van de Wereld". Ik heb er 7 in totaal in elkaar gezet.

I put together the last 2 blankets and already gave them the the lady of the Dutch foundations De Zonnebloem. She will give it to the people of the project "The largest crochet blanket in the world" (click). In total I put together 7 blankets.

Door al die lapjes aan elkaar te haken tot dekens, kreeg ik weer enorm veel zin in quilten. Sinds mijn Tia anderhalf jaar geleden, heb ik dit amper gedaan. Voornamelijk omdat ik de draad heel moeilijk in de naald krijg. Het gaat gelukkig iets beter, maar helemaal beter wordt dit niet meer. Ik zal het er mee moeten doen en dat doe ik dan ook ;-) Ik ben terug bezig met mijn Pippi Langkous sterretjes !

By crocheting all those squares together, I wanted to quilt again.  Since my Tia a year and a half ago, I have hardly done this. Mainly because I get the thread very hard in the needle. Fortunately, it has improved, but it will not be like as it was before the Tia . Oh well, I will have to do with it and I will do that ;-) I'm working on my Pippi Longstocking stars again !

Ik weet dat er hulpmiddelen bestaan om de draad door de naald te krijgen en de meeste heb ik ook allemaal geprobeerd, maar helaas. Het beste wat nu voor me werkt is door de loep erbij te pakken, zodat alles vergroot OF ik zet een 2e leesbril over mijn eerste (werkt ook als loep) en kan dan het oog van de naald beter zien. Daarna zet ik die 2e leesbril weer af, want het patchen gaat verder prima, hiep, hiep hoera, ik helemaal blij !!! Ik mag me echt gelukkig prijzen ! Zo en nu ga ik nog wat sterretjes naaien. Allemaal een fijn paas weekend !

I know there are many tools to put that thread in the needle and I almost tried them all.  I now use a magnifying lamp so I can see the eye of the needle better, this works for me. With patching the pieces of fabrics I have no trouble, it is only to put the thread in the needle. So I'm a very lucky girl, I can really praise myself. I wish every body a wonderful Easter weekend !

Blanket 4 and 5

Precies 1 week geleden bracht ik de dekens terug naar De Zonnebloem stichting en nam meteen genoeg granny squares mee terug om nog eens 4 dekens in elkaar te zetten voor hen. Mijn lijf werkte niet echt mee de laatste dagen, maar de volgende 2 dekens staan weer in elkaar.

Exactly 1 week ago, I brought back the crochet blankets to the Dutch foundation De Zonnebloem and they gave me enough granny squares back home to put together 4 more blankets for them. The next two are crocheted together ;-)

3 blankets put together

Afgelopen woensdag bracht stichting De Zonnebloem Nederweert mij genoeg granny squares om 3 dekens in elkaar te zetten voor De Grootste Gehaakte Deken van de Wereld (klik) in Park Vijversburg in Tytsjerk (Fr) op 14 en 15 Juli 2018. Inmiddels staan alle 3 de dekens in elkaar. Ze zijn elk 140 cm x 200 cm.

Last wednesday a Dutch local foundation brought me enough granny squares to put together 3 blankets for The Largest Crochet Blanket In The World in Park (click) Vijversburg in Tytsjerk (Fr) on July 14 and 15, 2018. I already have put them together. Each are 140 cm x 200 cm (55" x 79").

De dekens met de kleine lapjes van 10 x 10 cm haakte ik in elkaar door steeds 3 losse en dan 1 vaste te haken. 

The blankets with the little squares of 10 x 10 cm I crochet together with 3 chain stitch and than a single crochet (US term).

Voor de rand haakte ik steeds afwisselend 1 losse, 1 vaste. Voor elk van deze 2 dekens gebruikte ik 160 gram (385 meter) Royal van de Zeeman (241 m - 100 gram) met haaknaald 5 voor ze in elkaar te zetten en voor de rand.

For the border I crochet alternately 1 chain stitch, 1 single crochet (US term). I used for each blanket 160 gram (385 meter) of Royal - Zeeman (241 meter - 100 gram) with hook 5 mm (US 8) for putting them together and the border.

Om de deken met de dichte grannies in elkaar te zetten, haakte ik steeds 1 losse, 1 vaste.

To put together the blanket with the closed granny squares, I crochet alternately 1 chain stitch, 1 single crochet (US term).

Voor de rand gebruikte ik ook afwisselend 1 losse, 1 vaste. Voor deze deken gebruikte ik 112 gram ( 269 meter) van Royal van de Zeeman (241 m - 100 gram) voor het in elkaar zetten en de rand met haaknaald 5

For the border I crochet alternately 1 chain stitch, 1 single crochet (US term).  For this blanket I used 112 gram (269 meter) of Royal - Zeeman (241 meter - 100 gram) for putting it together and the border with hook 5 mm (US 8)

World largest blanket

14 en 15 Juli 2018 ligt De Grootste Gehaakte Deken van de Wereld in Park Vijversburg in Tytsjerk (Fr).
De Zonnebloem Nederweert was druk op zoek naar mensen die granny squares aan elkaar wilde haken tot dekens. Tuurlijk wil ik daarmee helpen en vanmiddag kwamen 2 dames 3 zakken brengen met lapjes voor 3 dekens. 

I'm helping a Dutch local foundation with crocheting the granny squares together so it will be blankets. On July 14 and 15 another foundation are going to display the world largest blanket in the Dutch province Friesland. This afternoon they brought me 3 bags with granny squares, so I can make 3 blankets.

Artemis shawl

Dit was ook weer zo'n ontzettend fijn patroon om te breien. Begonnen op 19 februari en op 1 maart afgekregen, dus in 10 dagen tijd weer een sjaal erbij ;-)

This was such a wonderful pattern to knit. I started on February 19 and finished it on march 1, so in 10 days I can add another shawl to the pile :-)

Artemis shawl - Madeleine Windsor
Yarn: Diva Sock Delight from Dutch Wool Diva (color Ensalada)
(80% Wool, 10% Cashmere goat, 10% Nylon)
Skein is 100 gr. (400 m/437 yards) - Used 320 m/350 yards
Yarn: Merino Singles from Martin's Lab 

(5 colors from  mini bundle Number Fifteen and Ten)
(100% merino)
Mini skein is 20 gr. (73 m/80 yards) - Used in total 365 m/400 yards

De Artemis sjaal is gebreid met 2 verschillende garens. De groene hoofdkleur is de Diva Sock Delight van Dutch Wool Diva (klik) in de kleur Ensalada. De 5 kleuren zijn mini strengen merino singles van Martin's Lab (klik) uit 2 verschillende bundels.

The Artemis shawl is knit with 2 different yarns. The green main color is Diva Sock delight from Diva Dutch Wool (click) in the color Ensalada. The 5 colors are mini skeins merino singles from Martin's Lab (click) from 2 diffirent mini bundles.

Het patroon ziet er misschien moeilijk uit, maar in werkelijkheid is het best een makkelijk patroon om te breien.

Although the pattern looks maybe a bit different, it is really a easy pattern to knit.

De groene streng was 100 gram (400 m.) en ik had nog 20 gram over. Dat betekent dat er 320 m. in de sjaal zit. De 5 mini strengen waren samen 100 gram, en 366 meter (elk 20 gram/73 meter). Ik had daar amper iets van over.

The green skein was 100 gram (400 m.) and I had 20 gram left over. That means that I used 320 m. in this shawl.  The 5 mini skein was together 100 gram and were 366 meter (each was 20 gram/73 meter). I had so little left over that I didn't weight it.

De sjaal is gebreid op naald 3.75  en hij is 160 x 65 cm.

The shawl is knitted on needle 3.75 (US 5) and it's 160 x 65 cm.

Lamina wrap

Alle draadjes van de Lamina wrap zijn ingestopt, dus mocht hij op de foto.

All the threads of the Lamina wrap are woven in, so I could make pictures.

Yarn: Zwerger Garn Opal Adventskalender (24 multi colors)

De Lamina sjaal is gebreid met 2 verschillende garens. Allereerst heb ik de 24 kleuren gebruikt van de Opal advent kalender 2017. De roomwitte kleur is van Mrs Robinson's Hand-dyed Yarns, maar heeft geen kleurnaam. 

The Lamina wrap is knitted with 2 kind of yarns. First are the 24 colors of the Opal advent calendar 2017. The off-white color is from Mrs Robinson's Hand-dyed Yarns, it has no color name.

Hoewel het garen van de advent kalender een kombinatie is van wol en nylon en de roomwitte 100 % merino, zijn ze heerlijk om samen te breien voor een sjaal. Het Opal garen wordt heel zacht na het wassen.

Although  the yarns of the advent calendar is wool with nylon and the off-white is 100 % merino, they work perfect together. The Opal yarn got very soft after washing.

De advent kalender heeft 24 kleuren en elke bal was 15 gram (63 m.), daarvan hield ik ongeveer 9 gram over per bal. Dat betekent dat er 24 x 25 m. = 600 m. in de sjaal zit. De room-witte streng was 100 gram en had 440 meter. Ik had daar 30 gram van over, dus daar is 308 m. van gebruikt. Het totaal aantal meters voor deze sjaal was 908 meter.

The advent calendar had 24 colors and each little ball was 15 gram (63 m.) and I had 9 gram left over from each one. That means that I used 24 x 25 m. = 600 m. in this shawl.  The off-white skein was 100 gram but had 440. I had 30 gram left over, so I used 308 m. In total I used for this wrap 908 meter.

Door de vele kleuren die in elk Opal bolletje zat was ik even bang dat de sjaal veel te bont zou worden, maar door steeds een roomwitte baan er tussen te breien, is dit verzacht. Ik ben er super blij mee! Mijn 2e project voor de 2018MakeNine (klik) lijst is af.

Because of the multi colors in each little Opal ball, I was afraid that the wrap would be way to much colorful. But because I knitted a off-white between each of them it has soften up. I'm so happy with this wrap ! My second project for the 2018MakeNine (click) list is finished.

New shawl and yarn

Nog steeds zijn niet alle draadjes ingestopt van de Lamina wrap, maar het einde is in zicht.  Ondertussen ben ik begonnen met de Artemis sjaal (klik) van Kingfisher Knits. De groene hoofdkleur is Diva Sock Delight van Dutch Wool Diva en de mini strengetjes zijn van Martin's Lab.

I still haven't woven in all the ends of the Lamina wrap, but it is almost done. I already started with this new pattern, the Artemis shawl (click) by Kingfisher Knits. The green main color is Diva Sock Delight from Dutch Wool Diva and the mini skeins are from Martin's Lab.

Er zijn ook wat nieuwe garens binnen gekomen. Deze 2 sock blanks die Bollekeswol speciaal voor mij geverfd heeft in Schotland kleuren (geel voor de Brem, Paars voor de heide en distels, groen en bruin voor de rest van het landschap). Ik ga er de Caraid wrap (klik) van Lina Knits mee breien die haar ajour patroon op het Schotse landschap gebaseerd heeft.

I also got some new yarn. These 2 sock blanks were especially dyed for me by the Dutch indie-dyer Bollekeswol in Scotland colors (Yellow for the common broom, purple for the heath and thristle, brown and green for the rest of the landscape). I'm going to knit the Caraid wrap (click) from Lina Knits with this yarn because that design is based on the Scottish landscape.

Wat is een sock blank: een sock blank is een lap die gebreid is en daarna geverfd wordt. Als je dan aan je eigen werkstuk wilt beginnen, dan trek je al werkend de sock blank uit en je krijgt een hele ander kleurenschema. Je kunt ook de sock blank voor je begint, uittrekken en oprollen tot een bal of cake.

What is a sock blank: A sock blank is knitted and then dyed. When you start with your project you unravel it or you can unravel it first and wind up as a ball or cake.

Ook kwam het garen binnen van Marianthi Yarns. De kleuren zijn in het echt zoveel mooier. Dit garen ga ik gebruiken voor de Goldfish memory wrap (klik) van Casapinka.

Poppies for knitters shawl

Deze sjaal was een testknit, dat betekend dat ik van de ontwerpster het patroon gekregen heb en ik brei het dan om te zien of het patroon klopt. Eventuele fouten geef ik dan aan haar door.

This shawl was a testknit, that means the designer gave me the pattern and I knit it to see if the pattern is correct. If there are any errors in it, I will let her know.

De sjaal is gebreid met 3 verschillende garens in 4 kleuren. De 2 teal kleuren zijn 100% merino van Irish Fairytale yarns (klik) in de kleuren Ice Princess (licht) en Petrol (donker). De bruine kleur is Cloud van Nina Hand Dyed Yarns (klik) in de kleur Brown Rust. De hoofdkleur is een 4 ply merino van Ratty Yarns (klik), dit was een OOAK kleur (one of a kind, dus wordt niet nogmaals geverfd).

The shawl is knit with 3 different yarns in 4 different colors. The 2 teal colors are 100% merino from Irish Fairytale yarns (click) in the colors Ice Princess (light) and Petrol (dark). De strengen van Irish Fairytale yarns waren 100 gram (400 m.) en ik had van de lichte nog 82 gram over. Dat betekent dat er 65 m. in de sjaal zit. Van de donkere had ik nog 70 gram over, dus daar is 120 meter van gebruikt. De bruine streng was ook 100 gram, maar had 500 meter. Ik had daar 96 gram van over en daar is dan 20 m. van gebruikt. De hoofdkleur was ook 100 gram en 400 meter en daar had ik 30 gram van over. Gebruikt is er 280 meter.

The skeins from Irish Fairytale yarns were 100 gram each (400 m.) and from the light I had 82 gram left over. That means that I used 65 meter in this shawl. From the dark color I had 70 gram left over, so I used 120 meter. The brown skein was also 100 gram but had 500 meter. My left over was 96 gram and I only used 20 meter. The main color was 100 gram and 400 meter and from that I had 30 gram left over. Used was 280 meter.

De sjaal is gebreid op naald 3.25  en hij is 190 x 45 cm.

The shawl is knitted on needle 3.25 (US 3) and it's 190 x 45 cm.

De sjaal moest je afwerken met een picot rand, dit was wel even wat werk, maar het resultaat is erg mooi.

I had to bind off the shawl with a picot edge and although it was a lot of work, the result is beautiful.

Planina wrap and carnival

Ik moet nog steeds de draadjes instoppen van mijn Lamina wrap, maar ik ben wel al aan een nieuwe sjaal begonnen. Ik liet 4 dagen geleden deze foto al zien op facebook, het is de Planina wrap van Shara Lambeth Designs (klik) en ik ga hem breien met de garens van de Advent kalender 2017 van Herbstblatt Regina. De eerste kleur was: It’s beginning to look a lot like …

I still have to sew in all the threads of the Lamina wrap, but in the meanwhile I started this new wrap. I showed this picture 4 days ago on facebook, it is the Planina wrap from Shara Lambeth Designs (click) and I'm using the  Herbstblatt Regina advent calendar 2017 yarn. The first color is called: It's beginning to look a lot like ...

De Olympische Spelen zijn ook begonnen en als je steeds een andere kleur moet breien dan gaat het best wel snel. Nu tijdens het kijken van de short track speed skating ben ik bezig met kleur 4 (Candlelight in the dark). De namen van kleur 2 en 3 waren: Under the mistletoe en Dreaming of a white Christmas.

The Olympic Games also started and when you have to take a new color each time, the knitting is going fast. While watching the short track speed skating I'm knitting color 4 (Candlelight in the dark).  The names of color 2 and 3 are: Under the mistletoe and Dreaming of a white Christmas.

Gisteren hadden we ook de carnavals optocht in ons dorp, hier enkele foto's.
