Garden table

Sommige vroegen of ik nog een foto van de zelfgemaakte tuin tafel wilde plaatsen als de bloemen erop stonden. Inmiddels staan deze erop en hier dus de beloofde foto van de tafel die Michiel enige tijd geleden maakte.

Some ask if I could post a picture of the garden table when I have put on the flowers. So as promised is here the picture of the garden table that michiel made with the flowers on.

Zoals jullie zien hou ik van (oude) zinken teilen en emmers. Op de tafel staat ook de nieuwe emmer die Michiel voor zijn verjaardag kreeg van mijn petekind Amy.

As you can see I love (old) zinc bowls and buckets. On the table is the new bucket that Michiel got for his birthday from my godchild Amy.

Friends

Het speldenkussen dat ik voor de give away gemaakt heb (zie bericht gisteren), is  een gratis patroon van Cosmic Handmade (klik). Het heet Friends en ik borduurde het op 28 ct. in thee geverfd evenweave met 1 draadje. Onder de foto is te lezen welke kleuren ik gebruikt heb.

The pincushion I made for my give away (see message yesterday), is done with a free pattern from Cosmic Handmade (click). Its called Friends and I stitched it on 28 ct. tea-dyed evenweave with 1 thread. Under the picture you can read what colors I used.

Give Away May (closed)

Eigenlijk wilde ik gisteren al de Give Away van mei posten, maar Michiel was jarig en daardoor vergat ik het. 

I wanted to post the Give Away of may yesterday, but my husband had his birthday and I forgot to post it.

 

De Give Away is open voor iedereen. Laat onder dit bericht een reactie achter als je mee wilt doen. Lukt dit niet, stuur me dan een email (adres te vinden aan de rechterkant).

Deze maand ga ik weggeven enkele buttons en charms, met daarbij 2 strengen zijden garens van elk 5 yard.

Erbij een zelfgemaakt, in primitieve stijl, speldenkussen (meer over dit speldenkussen morgen op mijn blog).

Sunny day

Ook vandaag is het weer een heerlijke zonnige dag. Michiel is begonnen met het gras los te steken, omdat dit aan vervanging toe is. Bowy vindt het maar niets dat er nu geen gras is om op te liggen, maar tot die tijd ligt hij daarom gewoon op het zand ;-)

Today we have again a beautiful sunny day. Michiel is busy to remove all the grass in the garden because it has to be replaced. Bowy does not like that, but till the new grass is here, he is lying on the sand ;-)

Voor wie zich afvraagt waar de update blijft over de Natures Journey, ... mijn wijsvinger waarmee ik patch heeft een wondje en nu is patchen even pijnlijk. Ik hoop dat ik volgende week verder kan gaan met de quilt. Voor nu ben ik bezig met het breien van een vestje, patroon Penny van Drops (klik). Ik brei hem met BabyAlpaca Silk, een heerlijke zachte draad.

If someone is wondering where the update is of Natures Journey, ... I have a little wound in my finger and I can't patch now. It has to heal and I hope that I can quilt again next week. Till that time I'm knitting a jacket, pattern Penny from Drops (click). I'm knitting it with BabyAplpaca Silk, a delightful soft thread.

Ook heb ik afgelopen maandag een klacht ingedient over hoe het gelopen is met mijn afspraak in het ziekenhuis in Maastricht. Ik heb bericht dat de klacht ontvangen is en doorgestuurd is aan het oncologie centrum. Ik ben benieuwd of ik hier nog iets over hoor.

Last monday I also send a complaint tot the hospital about how they handled my appointment. I'm curious if I got a reply about that.

Nu de zon zo heerlijk schijnt, zie je steeds meer plantjes in de tuin die aan het bloeien zijn, zo ook de akelei.

Now the sun is shining so bright, you see more and more plants that are blooming, such as this aquilegia.

New appointment

Nou lekker dan, .... krijg je vrijdag na 5 uur een telefoontje of je vandaag om 10 uur kunt komen in het ziekenhuis i.p.v. 12 uur. Waarop ik zeg dat dit hoogstwaarschijnlijk niet gaat lukken (omstandigheden op Michiels werk). Geen nood zegt de assistentie, lukt het niet, bel me dan op maandagmorgen om half 9 en dan kunt u alsnog om 12 uur komen.
Vanmorgen meteen gebeld en ik krijg te horen dat er inmiddels iemand anders om 12 uur ingepland is. Resultaat nieuwe afspraak op 1 juni. Balen zeg !

No hospital for me today, ... I got a call last friday and they ask if I could make it at 10  instead of 12 o'clock. I said that this maybe not would work (due to Michiels work), but she said that I could call on monday morning if I couldn't make it at 10 and then I could come at 12.

I called immediately this morning to say that 10 would not work and then they told me that the appointment for 12 was now for someone else. So they made me a new appointment and now I have to wait till june 1.

The sky and hospital news

Een paar dagen geleden zagen we vanuit onze tuin een prachtige dubbele regenboog. Ik heb geprobeerd er een foto van te maken, helaas zie je de 2e (buitenste) niet zo goed.

A few days back we saw from our garden a double rainbow. I tried to make a picture of it, but you can't see the second (on the outside) not so very clear.

Voordat de regenboog in zicht was, leek het of de hemel in brand stond. Prachtig om te zien en ik kon het niet laten om hier enkele foto's van te maken.

Before the rainbow, the sky looked as if it was burning. it was so beautiful that I took some pictures.

Vorige week kreeg ik weer te horen dat er opnieuw onrustige cellen bij me zijn gevonden. Ze blijven maar terug komen na mijn baarmoederverwijdering in 2010. Mijn gynaecoloog heeft me nu doorgestuurd naar Maastricht waar ik me maandag om 12 uur moet melden bij het oncologie centrum. Afwachten maar weer wat er gedaan gaat worden.

Last week I got the news that again bad cells are found. They keep coming back after my hysterectomy in 2010. My gynecologist now has me redirected to another university hospital. Monday I have to be there in the oncology center. Have to see what they are going to do now.

Bottom applique border

De onderste applicatie rand heeft links and rechts op het uiteinde een blok zitten, dat bestaat uit een rondje gemaakt van scraplapjes. 

The bottom applique border has on the left and right at the end a block that contains a circle of scraps.

Persoonlijk vond ik die niet mooi en ik koos daarom voor 2 andere blokken die op de uiteinden zitten van de bovenste applicatie rand, de hexagon bloem en de ster.

Personally I didn't liked those blocks and that's why I choose 2 other blocks that are on the end of the top applique border, the hexagon flower and the star.

Om ze ook een scrappy uiterlijk te geven, maakte ik ze van allemaal verschillende stofjes, zodat ze er toch anders uit zien dan die van de bovenste applicatie rand.

To give them a scrappy look I made them with different fabrics, so they look totaly different than the ones from the top applique border.

Dit waren de laatste blokken voor de onderste rand en dus kon de hele rij aan de quilt gezet worden. Er komen nu nog 2 randen rondom en dan is de quilt klaar.

These where the last blocks for the bottom border and so I could sew them onto the quilt. Only 2 borders goes around the quilt and then it is finished.

Afgelopen dinsdag zijn we ook naar Patch and Stitch geweest. Daar kocht ik alvast de tussenvulling (100% katoen) en de achterkant stof, zodat ik meteen met doorquilten kan beginnen als hij helemaal af is. Ook kocht ik nog een paar stofjes die ik nog niet had.

Last tuesday we went to Patch and Stitch. I bought there the batting (100% cotton) and the fabric for the back, so I can start quilting when the quilt is finished. I also bought some fabrics I didn't have.

Beauty in the garden

Op deze mooie zonnige bevrijdingsdag, een aantal foto's uit de tuin die verder geen tekst nodig hebben. Behalve de eerste foto, ... het heeft lang geduurd eer ik er achter kwam dat deze bloem nagelkruid heet, want mijn moeder noemde ze altijd Juliaantjes (naar Koningin Juliana). Ik denk omdat ze oranje waren en zij zelf ook niet wist hoe de werkelijke naam was ;-)

On this sunny liberation day, a few pictures from our garden, which don't need any text. Except for the first picture, ... it took me a long time to realize that the name of that flower was geum, because my mother called them Juliaantjes (after the name of Queen Juliana which was our queen at that time). I think because they are orange and she didn't know the real name of those flowers ;-)

Top applique border

De laatste 7 blokjes voor de bovenste applicatie rand waren ook zo af, ...

The last 7 blocks for the top applique border were done in no-time, ...

... en daardoor kon ik alle 14 blokjes weer aan de quilt zetten. Nog 1 applicatie rand te gaan ;-)

... and then I could sew all 14 blocks onto the quilt. Just 1 applique border to go ;-)

De blokjes voor de onderste applicatie rand liggen inmiddels klaar om geappliceerd te worden.

The blocks for the applique border at the bottom are ready to be applique.

Happy Birthday Lindy

2 mei is de dag dat we dubbel feest hebben, want dochter Lindy wordt vandaag 29 jaar. Gefeliciteerd met je verjaardag lieve meid !

May 2 is a day that we have double feast, because daughter Lindy is turning 29 years. Happy Birthday sweet girl !

En vandaag is het ook de dag dat Michiel en ik 10 jaar getrouwd zijn. Gefeliciteerd lieverd !

And today it is also the day that michiel and I are married 10 years. Happy anniversary sweetheart !

 

7 ready, 7 to go . . .

De eerste 7 blokjes van de bovenste applicatie rand zijn klaar. In totaal moeten er 14 gemaakt worden, dus nog 7 te gaan.

The first 7 blocks are made for the upper applique border. In total I have to make 14 blocks, so still 7 to go.

Als het geregend heeft, dan kun je altijd mooie foto's maken in de tuin. De regendruppels, die op de planten liggen, lijken dan net steentjes van glas.

When it has rain, you can always make wonderful pictures in the garden. The raindrops that are lying on the leaves, just look as stones of glass.
