Simplicity - Little Sheep Virtues

Het was de hoogste tijd om weer eens een schaapje te borduren. Simplicity (Eenvoud) is het 6e schaapje uit de Little Sheep Virtues van Little House Needleworks.

It was high time to stitch another sheep. Simplicity is the 6th sheep from the Little Sheep Virtues from Little House Needleworks.

Het schaapje is weer met chenille garen geborduurd, dit koop ik altijd bij Hand Dyed Fibers (de FINE versie). Ook komen er 2 bijen knoopjes opgenaaid.

The sheep is again stitched with chenille thread, which I always buy at Hand Dyed Fibers (FINE version). It also has 2 wee mosey bee buttons.

Dit keer vond ik een mooi citaat van Charles Dudley Warner (1829 – 1900). Hij was een Amerikaans essayist, schrijver en vriend van Mark Twain, met wie hij samen de roman The Gilded Age: A Tale of Today schreef.

This time I found a beautiful quote from Charles Dudley Warner (1829 – 1900). He was an American essayist, novelist, and friend of Mark Twain, with whom he co-authored the novel The Gilded Age: A Tale of Today.

De bloem/plant die bij de deugd Eenvoud hoort is de Egelantier.

Cubby Organizer

Soms kom je iets tegen op internet, dat je maar niet uit je hoofd krijgt. Dat had ik met de cubby organizer (klik). Steeds weer ging ik naar die site terug, ... zucht, zo mooi.

Sometimes you see something on the internet, that you don't get out of your head. I had that with the Cubby Organizer (click). I kept getting back to that site, ... sigh, so beautiful.

Calendar Girl series - Little House Needleworks

Ik zag hem ook al eens verschijnen op de blog van Diane van Little House Needleworks (klik) en op de blog van Hilda (klik). Hoe vaker ik keek, hoe mooier ik hem vond.

I saw it also once on the blog of Diane from Little House Needleworks (click) and on the blog of Hilda (click). The more I saw it, the more beautiful I found it.

Maar om zo'n zware kast nu vanuit Amerika te laten komen, dat zag ik niet zitten.  Je zit met verzendkosten en invoerrechten, dat zou een dure kast worden.

But I didn't feel like to order such a heavy cubby organizer that had to be shipped to the Netherlands. Too many shipping costs and import duties, that would be an expensive cubby organizer.  

 

Toch kreeg ik hem niet uit mijn hoofd, want in zo'n kast zou ik mooi wat ornamentjes, speldenkussens en ander kleine spulletjes kwijt kunnen. Leuk om hem elke maand met een ander (maand) thema in te richten, zucht ...

But I didn't get it out of my head, because in such a cubby organizer I could put in a lot of ornaments, pincushions or other little things. How nice it would be to decorate it each month with a different (month) theme,  sign ...

Cottage of the Month series  - Country Cottage Needleworks

Hilda vroeg of ik niet iemand wist die handig was, want zo'n kast was uiteraard ook zelf te maken. Dat ik daar zelf nog niet aan had gedacht, ... ik belde meteen mijn zus en vroeg of Johan, haar handige man, zo'n kast kon maken. Ik stuurde meteen wat foto's per email door, zodat hij die kon bekijken. En wat denk je?

Hilda ask me if I didn't know anyone who was handy, because such a cubby organizer you can make yourself. I didn't thought of that, ... I called my sister who is married to Johan, a very handy man, and ask if he could make me such a cubby organizer. I send some pictures by email so he could take a look. And what do you think?

 

Johan belde me al snel terug, om te vragen wat de maten moesten zijn, wat voor hout ik wilde etc. Diezelfde week nog ging hij samen met Michiel hout halen en 2 dagen erna belde hij al dat de kast klaar was !

Johan called me back to ask me what the size has to be, what kind of wood I would etc. The same week he went with my husband to a DIY store to buy the wood and 2 days after, he called me back to say the cubby organizer was made !

Hij was prachtig geworden en ik hoefde niet eens verzendkosten en invoerrechten te betalen, bovendien was hij voor de helft van de prijs klaar. Ik hoefde hem alleen nog maar een beitslaag te geven, want ik wilde wel een donkere kast.

The cubby was beautiful and now I didn't had to pay any shipping cost or import duties, it was made for half the price. I only had to give it a stain layer, because I wanted it to be a dark color.

Sampler Months series - Little house Needleworks

Ik heb er  geen cijfers opgeschilderd, want dat hoefde ik niet perse en de vakken heb ik ietsjes groter laten maken, namelijk 15 x 15 cm.

I didn't paint any numbers on it, because that I didn't need not necessarily. I also let him made the boxes a slight bigger, namely 15 x 15 cm. (almost 6" x 6").

Nu is hij dan eindelijk klaar en Michiel heeft hem afgelopen weekend opgehangen. Ik heb hem meteen ingericht met een februari thema: Valentijn en ik ben al druk aan het nadenken over hoe ik hem volgende maand ga inrichten.

And now it is ready and Michiel has hanged it last weekend. I decorate it immediately with a february theme: valentine and I'm already be thinking of how I'm going to decorate it next month.
 

Heerlijk om verliefd te zijn op een vakkenkast ;-) Johan nogmaals bedankt voor het maken van deze kast, ik vind hem G*E*W*E*L*D*I*G.

Helaas zijn sommige foto's een beetje licht vanwege de flits, maar jullie krijgen toch een idee hoe die geworden is. Trouwens, mijn Give Away (klik) is nog 1 dag open om mee te doen.

Peacock Squared

Het speldenkussen dat ik voor de give away gemaakt heb (zie bericht gisteren), is  een gratis patroon van Trillium Creates (klik). Het heet Peacock Squared en ik borduurde het op 28 ct. in thee geverfde lichtblauw evenweave met 1 draadje. Ik gebruikte 3 kleuren, maar het is ook mooi om het in 1 kleur te borduren.

The pincushion I made for my give away (see message yesterday), is done with a free pattern from Trillium Creates (click). Its called Peacock Squared and I stitched it on 28 ct. tea-dyed light blue evenweave with 1 thread. I used 3 colors but it's also beautiful to stitch it only in 1 color.

Give Away February

Vandaag op valentijnsdag is het tijd voor de maandelijkse Give Away.

Today on valentines day its time for the monthly Give Away.

Love Cubes finished

De borduurwerkjes van Love Cubes heb ik afgewerkt als kubussen. Zo staan ze ook als voorbeeld op het patroon en ik vond dat wel een leuk idee. Je kunt ze op allerlei manieren opstapelen of naast elkaar plaatsen.

The stitchings of Love Cubes I finished as cubes. This was also to see on the pattern and I found that a nice idea. You can pile them up in all sorts of ways or next to each other.

Love Cubes - The Primitive Hare

De kubussen staan nu nog op de kamerkast, maar in het weekend hangt Michiel een grote vakkenkast voor me op. Een kast die gemaakt is door mijn schoonbroer en waar ik veel ornamenten en andere dingen in kwijt kan. Na het weekend zal ik hier foto's van plaatsen ;-)

The cubes are now on the room cabinet, but over the weekend Michiel will hang up a cubby organizer, which is made by my brother-in-law. Then I have a lot of room for ornaments and other little things. After the weekend I will post pictures of the cubby organizer ;-)

Terwijl ik bezig was met het afwerken van Love Cubes, lag Bowy heerlijk te slapen op de bank. Over 2 dagen is het trouwens weer tijd voor de februari give away.

While I was busy finishing Love Cubes, Bowy slept on the couch. Saturday it is again time for the february give away.

 

 

 

Love Cubes - letter E

Vandaag is de 4e en dus laatste letter aan de beurt. De letter E van het patroon Love Cubes van The Primitive Hare (klik).

Today I show you the 4th and also the last letter. The letter E of the pattern Love Cubes from  The Primitive Hare (click).

 Alle vier de letters vormen het woord LOVE. Ik ga ze vandaag afwerken zodat ik ze morgen kan laten zien hoe ze zijn geworden.

All four letters together show the word LOVE. Today I'm going to finish them off, so I can show them you tomorrow.

Love Cubes - letter V

Dan zijn we nu bij de 3e letter aangekomen, de V. Nog 1 letter te gaan en ik kan de 4 letters gaan afwerken. Love Cubes is een patroon van The Primitive Hare (klik).

Now we have come to letter 3, the V. Only 1 letter to go and then I can finish them off. Love Cubes is a pattern  from The Primitive Hare (click).

Ik hou de DMC nummers aan die op het patroon staan, alleen voor het rood en donkerbruin heb ik ander garen gebruikt. Ik borduur dit met Chilli (rood) en Espresso (bruin) van Nina's Threads (klik). Van de week kreeg ik weer een aantal kleuren van haar binnen en ze blijven heel fijn om mee te werken.

I stitch with the DMC numbers that are on the chart, I only use some other threads for the red and dark brown. I stitch this with Chilli (red) and espresso (brown) from Nina's Threads (click). Last week I got some colors I order, I love working with these threads.

Vorige week kwam The Primitive Hare met een nieuw patroon: Love Cubes (klik). Ik vond dit erg mooi en bestelde het bij haar. De eerste letter is inmiddels geborduurd op 32 ct. linnen dat een theebadje heeft gehad.

Christmas Cookies

Ook dit borduurwerkje van Country Cottage Needleworks had ik al even af, maar ik moest er nog een ornamentje van maken. Christmas Cookies is het 4e ornamentje uit de Country Cottage Ornaments serie.

I had finished the stitching some time ago of this piece from Country Cottage Needleworks, but I had to made it into a ornament. Christmas Cookies is the 4th ornament from the Country Cottage Ornaments series.

Er werd weer een button bevestigd, ...

I attached a button, ...

... en rondom afgewerkt met touw. Voor de achterkant gebruikte ik een stofje met gingerbreads dat ik enkele jaren geleden kocht. Het heet Christmas Treasures by Susan Winget for Benartex.

... and I sewed a piece of string all around. For the back I used a fabric with gingerbreads that I bought years ago. Its called Christmas Treasures by Susan Winget for Benartex.

Sophie Squirrel

Sophie de eekhoorn staat bij dag 12 van de Advent Animals,  freebies van Brooke's Books (klik). Sophie denkt dat ze een van de rendieren is van de kerstman.

Lamb pin pillow

Vorige week kocht ik een aantal patronen van Teresa Murgida - Primitive Acorns (klik). De eerste die ik maakte was Lamb pin pillow en die werd geborduurd op een lapje linnen met zachte bruine stipjes, dat ik een tijdje terug kocht bij Atelier Soed-Idee (klik).

Om er een eigen draai aan te geven, heb ik een paar kleuren veranderd. Verder heb ik aan de bovenkant een aantal oude knopen bevestigd.

For my own task I changed a few colors. I also added some old buttons on top.

Ik vond het speldenkussen zo leuk geworden, dat ik hem nogmaals maakte en gisteren aan mijn zus gaf, die vandaag jarig is. Yvon nog van harte gefeliciteerd !

I so much liked the pin pillow, that I made it twice and I gave one yesterday to my sister who has her birthday today.
