I love those cupcakes

Yesterday I finished the cupcakes after making the last stitches and the french knots

Stitch on 28 ct. jobelan with DMC
Pattern to be find in the cross stitch gold number 63
On 8 cupcakes there where french knots and I love how it looks

I found a beautifull pink fabric for making this cushion

When I was looking for the pink fabric I saw in the same webshop this beautiful quiltkit and after the good news I got from my doctor (everything is okay and I can start with doing the things I did before the surgery, over 1 year I must be back for a checkup) last wednesday I orderd it.
The fabric is from Moda, called Rouenneries.

Suzanne had a beautifull give away

Quilting updates

This week I didn't do much cross stitching but I made some quiltblocks of the quiltclub quilt.
Last week I made the 3th block and its called bearpaw
This is the favorite block of Chrissie and she chose this one because of her love for bears.

Yesterday we got the pattern of the favorite block of Karin.
She chose for the twisted logcabin and her story of why this is her favorite block:
She find this a dynamic block with so much movement in it and because the logcabin is one of the oldest quiltpatterns.

Last week I also got my order from a Dutch quiltshop.
I saw in her webshop that she had 3 Moda bakeshop boxes with 2.5 " squares and I bought them because I have a quiltpattern in my head I want to make and I need alot of small squares for it.

I also orderd some creme background fabric (6.5 yard) and a medium green fabric (2 yard) for this quilt. I don't know when I will be working on this one, but when I do I will make some progress pictures.

Here you see the creme background fabric and on the left the green fabric. On the creme background fabric you see the little squares I'm going to use (this is from 1 box only but I'm going to use all 3 boxes). The serie is called Vine Creek.

The little time I spend on cross stitching I was working on this one.
Its Pear tree from LHN and I hope to finish it today :)

Antique quilt update

On a Dutch group we are working on a replica of an antique quilt. Each border gets different quiltblocks alternated with small solid borders.
This time I made the starblocks, next border will be with flat squares

Close-up of the stars so you can see the colors better
The fabric I use is from the serie Louisa by Moda

Cupcakes and charity quiltblocks

Yesterday I have worked on the cupcakes and I have now 6 cupcakes completed, only 3 to go.

On a Dutch website of a quiltshop you could buy fabric for making a quiltblock.
They send you some fabric and you can make a quiltblock which you chose yourself.
After you finish it you send the quiltblock back to the shop and they are going to make charityquilts with these blocks. They money is for a Dutch charityfoundation, called KIKA, that does research for treatment with kids with cancer. The charity quilts are going to give to these kids with cancer.

I have bought this fabric and I have made this block from it

My husband Michiel, who also quilt, have also made a quiltblock for this charity foundation.

Thank you all for your comments !

Quiltclub block 1

On a Dutch quiltclub was the question: What is your favorite quiltblock
Then we must send it to one person and tell her why this was our favorite block.
Now she gives us once a week a quiltblock pattern that is favorite of a member and the story why.

This week it was the favorite block of Jacqueline: Hands all around
Her story:
this block comes from my favorite quilt, the Sylvia Bridal Quilt and it represents friendship and solidarity and that is what we find here in this Dutch quiltclub.

I have made this block with some Moda fabric: nostalgia

Januari calendar is hanging

Since today the calendar is hanging. The only thing I must do is write down the names of the ones who have there birthday this month.

I have printed out a calendar which I glue to the green cardboard and the stitching part I have made into a pinkeep.
Last night we had some snow again and this morning the world was white again
On the callicarpa there are still a few purple berries
I love snow !!!
On our small pond there is a thick layer of ice

Happy New Year

I wish you all a Happy New Year
and I hope that all your dreams come true in 2010 !

I did make some stitches on the cupcakes sampler. This is going to be a birthdaypresent for my son's girlfriend Mayke (they are living together). She likes bright colors and is crazy about anything from the 50-60's (Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe etc.) AND everything with cupcakes on it, so I'm going to make her a pillow with these cupcakes.

My husband did make some new candles from old ones who where almost burned up.
I like the colors, aren't they brightfull ?
